Gotta agree with King on this. People are going into detail with their responses bc this has been talked about for weeks if not months in this very thread. If you want to know where everyone stands, just go back and read through. No reason to restart that back and forth again and I don't think anyone is taking the bait.

Re: The LeBron James Thread
I have no idea what you're even saying. Switching teams should never hurt a players "legacy". That's all I'm saying. I don't care to know where people stand, somebody made a comment basically saying he hurt his legacy just because he left one team for another, how is that true? People can leave teams without it effecting their on court "legacy". It's not about the name on the front of the jersey it's about the name on the back and how much that name can accomplish.
You're grasping for straws with that rationalization.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Actually each players situation was totally different from the next on the list... That was kinda my point, reason should not matter.Comment

As for the legacy talk. LeBron altered his legacy because he shattered his aura of invincibility with what he did. There's a certain status that public figures can reach where they're at a godlike status. Michael Jordan was there at one point, Kobe Bryant was there, Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, Tom Brady was there, etc. LeBron could do no wrong, his image was untouchable. Everything he did was done the right way. He said all the right things, made all the right moves. What he did changed all that. It changed people's perceptions of him, it changed writers' perception of him. The way LeBron's story is written now, will be different to the way it would have been before this. That doesn't even touch the status he would have reached had he made good on his promise and delivered that title to Cleveland. Even now, if he went back in a few years and eventually won it wouldn't be the same feeling. Cleveland would be overjoyed at finally having that title, but it'll be different than it would have been having LeBron and Cleveland go through those pains together and finally reach that goal together. So yes, there's a difference in the situations of Michael Jordan changing teams retiring and then coming back for two years to lead by example with the team he's a part owner of. There's a difference between Scottie Pippen changing teams by getting traded to the Rockets or KG being traded to the Celtics after having to be talked into not blocking the trade from happening.Last edited by King_B_Mack; 01-16-2013, 01:58 PM.Comment

On to something that hasn't been discussed 10,000,000 times.
Bron is 2 assists away from 5k tonight, pretty impressive.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
What was all this nonsense about LeBron and Cleveland again?
Before I left for work this morning, they had all that LeBron stuff on and they put "LeBron to Cleveland?" and then quickly removed it.
I'm sure it was nothing.--

Nothing really. Just some goofball "journalist" trying to get the early jump on the LeBron sweepstakes like they were doing back in 2010.Comment

I guess we disagree.. LeBron left a team for another just as TONS of great players have. Hell even lots of players from the 50 greatest players list. There is nothing wrong with that.
I don't see how him leaving tarnishes his legacy of on court performance. The ESPN segment had nothing to do with what he accomplishes as a player. Zero. Just like Jordan's gambling, and "bad" teammate reputation, Kobe raping a girl, Barkley for starting bar fights, Wilt sleeping with a million girls and never having the winning attitude, plenty of players for drug use, Rodman for everything he did.. Etc... Hell even Jordan quitting on his team in his prime to go play another sport didnt tarnish his legacy in any way.
My point is, anything a player does off the court isn't going to effect their legacy for what they achieved on the court.Last edited by ojandpizza; 01-16-2013, 04:13 PM.Comment

As a LeBron and Jordan fan I can honestly say that I was probably 10times more angry at Jordan for leaving the world champion Bulls for baseball than I was at LeBron for leaving the losing Cavs to a legit contender.Comment
