I think this what we will see him doing more as he gets old. Playing closer to the basket. And only shooting spot-up 3 pointers and less dribbling.

      Spoiler
that is possible, but lebron doesnt really enjoy the contact of playing down low against some of the real bangers in the league. for example he said he wasnt too thrilled about having to bang against pfs. right now its cool because he's mostly taking advantage of wings when he's on offense.

i think the caveat here is, in the future, does lebron slow down enough where for whatever reason opposing coaches are able to start putting pfs on him. and if so as he ages will he be willing to go into the post and bang against true pfs

if in 5yrs or so he's still too fast/quick for pfs to keep up with, then that would be a nice late career transition option for him...

I don't know about LeBron ever being a PF lol.... That's a joke. I see him more becoming a old version of Magic Johnson. His handle is too good to ever be covered by a big man. And I'm not saying his handle is Kyrie crazy. But it's just too solid for any big men to say in front of him.

i assumed you meant that as he got older he would transition to a more low-post/postup game.

None of us that ever had the ability to play on the wing want to bang with anybody... but old man father time makes that tune change quite often.

true, but its a different mentality, takes a different kind of mindset. do you thik that lebron could get there. what if in 5 yrs, there is a more athletic reggie evans and lebron has slowed down just enough to where this type of player can hope to deal with him.

do you believe that lebron mentally can get to that place to deal with this type of player down low?

I can't even believe your questioning if he can get there. People make it seem like one day LeBron is just going to be a bum on the bench lol.

edit: But basically I was saying LeBron would probably look a lot more like Magic Johnson/Mark Jackson type of wing player.

edit2: This is a side question. But what do you guys value LeBron James at? I can't believe Kobe makes 27.7 million this year while LeBron makes 17.5. Can anyone direct me to the list of other players?

i think we are kinda miscommunicating abit.

im saying theres no way opposing coaches just let lebron magic his way to the finish line if they can help it. if there is a counter they are going to try to use it.

i will be very disappointed in all the nba coaches if they allow lebron to just magic his way out the door, atleast try something right?

And I totally agree with you.

But right now... What weakness does LeBron still have (for coaches to attack)? In my opinion I think he either going 2 ways once his quickness starts to go. He either starts moving better off of screens (off the ball). He handles the ball even more in a point guard situation. But in more of a magic/mark jackson post-up style.

It's either that or LeBron just becomes a better Joe Johnson ha.

We all get better at the game mentally as we get older. We get a better understanding of what we can and can't do and how to take advantage of it... I'd say players learn more about how to work before getting the ball, or working to get to their spots. I don't see why James would be any different. Hell, he's improving in that area now and when "this is what I'm going to do, try to stop me" doesn't work anymore, it'll get even better. He's a very smart basketball player. I don't think he had full confidence in certain areas of his game, knew how to fully take advantage of areas he knew he was good at and hadn't gotten past the fear of failure. Over the years he's been growing in all aspects and I'd expect that to continue.

Isn't it usually as you get older, the farther you get pushed away from the basket? Look at Kobe, Pierce etc. Taking more jumpers than ever.

I don't see LeBron maintaining those numbers at the rim as he gets older. He'll still get his, just off of sheer talent, but yall act like he's going to be scoring at will in the paint, and that's not going to happen.

Most of those baskets at the rim come from him penetrating from the perimeter, not playing in the post. So I'm not sure where this assumption comes from that is trying to lead people to believe that he'll be the second coming of Kareem when he becomes an elder in this league. Not happening.

Brons jumper is right on schedule too...I for one, did not think it would come this far..but by the time he starts to go downhill as far as athleticism, it'll be there waiting for him...

He needs to teach his teammate the same...

I just never thought of Kobe or Pierce as guys who got to the rim. I always felt they were jump shooters first.

edit: Also maybe I shouldn't say "jump shooters first". Maybe more like they never seen a jumper they didn't like lol jk
