It's annoying we are going to have to keep dealing with this again. First with Kobe being the next MJ and now LeBron. At least Kobe played pretty similarly to MJ but he definitely was no MJ at the end of the day.
LeBron is a different player and tries to be more all-around. MJ did whatever it took to win better than anyone and was the most skilled, talented player ever.
And I feel like most everyone especially young people remember MJ when he was at the tail end of his career. Because he was still great then in the late 90's and still the best player in the NBA, we think that's how he always was in his career.
How LeBron is so physically and athletically superior now, MJ was that and even crazier when he was LeBron's age. If you watch those games in the late 80's and early 90's of MJ it's simply breathtaking to watch. The way he elevates and the speed he has it's like if you combined Rose and Westbrook's athleticism and then put it in a 6'6'' body.
My point with that is it seems easier to compare LeBron to MJ when we think of the athlete LeBron is now which everyone classifies as "biggest freak ever" and then compare to what we saw when MJ was winning titles. There was a time when MJ was younger and was a better athlete than LeBron in my opinion.
All of that being said, I have always thought LeBron had the best chance to get to MJ's greatness level. I think he'll do it a different way if he does and be more like a Wilt or Magic mold but ultimately, he will be LeBron and the only LeBron ever.
He's no MJ though, espcially not yet. Needs to win at least 4 titles to get in the conversation.
