In a way in does hurt Adidas because now you're paying a ton of money to two players that are in the same market. Where as you have two top players in different markets expanding your product. Rose already owns this market with his Adidas shoe. Bringing Howard here doesn't bring them anymore business. Where as if Howard was sponsored by Nike then Nike would be all over the deal since it would allow them to compete directly against Adidas in a Adidas market (hoops wise).

This is all based on rumor and speculation since no one has officially come out and said this.

I'm sure there's positives and negatives. Adidas will never officially come out and say anything.

And I'm sure if it was an issue, Dwight could switch sponsors easily and continue to get paid the same amount.

The problem is nowadays there's no way for this kind of stuff to remain in house without the Media getting it.

The thing about that is...this isn't some leaked report about what happened in the locker room, Dwight TOLD the media about all this. If Dwight isn't trying to get out of Orlando it's a different story calling his guys out, but dude has a foot out the door, he's got no place calling anybody out about they're desire to suit up for the Orlando Magic. That's why he needs to just stop talking about this.

I'm sure there's nothing easy about switching sponsors. Dwight is under contract to Adidas. For how long? Do not know, but unless they're feeling generous and willing to let him out of his deal early, it's certainly not going to be easy to switch before that deal expires.

you remember that dwight called out his teammates for the EXACT same reasons last year right? when i first read his comments i thought id been put in a time machine ... it does kinda strike me as dumb to say it this year but my guess is he's playing a Public Relations game with magic ownership i.e saying things like this will get him traded sooner rather than later

the really funny thing about this is that he never blames himself for anything, its always his teammates fault.. to hear him tell it, he is the only one on the team who plays with energy night in & night out...

I agree with that...He should definitely take more ownership when making comments....with that said, from what I've seen he IS the only one giving effort lol

The Media is still getting it regardless of whether Duhwight tells them or not, that's the point. You're never going to keep stuff like this from leaking out PERIOD no matter how close WE THINK they are because we'll ALWAYS find out about it either directly from the player's mouth or being reported by our favorite "sources".

If the team is playing bad, then what's he supposed to do? "Oh, I can't talk or criticize my current team's recent play because it's a good chance I won't be here next year"? Now if he was playing as bad as they were then I'd be in full agreement with you in that he's the last person to be saying anything.

They're in the running in that Dwight would sign there. He would be open to playing in New York. But the Magic are not strongly interested in Amare Stoudemire because even though Amare is from that area and he is a star player, he's 29 years old. His knees have been through many surgeries to the point where they can't even get them insured. And let's face it, he's not having a strong season. So some people, the Magic, are concerned with the long-term history. Look, including this year, he has four years, 83 million left. So they, they really want a lot more than Amare Stoudemire if they wind up having to trade Dwight Howard.

They might want to come to a mutual agreement. Who knows. It's ridiculous to think that a sponsorship deal would stop a trade but this is the age we live in.

hahaha, let me clear, i dont think its wrong for the best player on a team to say his teammates need to play harder (especially if hes the hardest worker on the team) but to always throw them under the bus is something different , now i dont like anyone on the magic's roster but show just a lil more solidarity dwight hahaha
