      Re: CBA/Lockout Discussion Thread

Heard an interesting topic on Mike and Mike:

Which lockout will be over first?

I think it'll be the NFL lockout just because of the head start it has/had (meaning that they've had more time to negotiate than the NBA has), but who knows? Which one does OS think will be over first?

The NFL one, because that season is closer than the NBA one.

Yea once the season starts players will start to lose money with each passing game. When was the last time a season was comptelely canceled?

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I think the NBA lockout will last a while. Probably into the season IMO.

I think so too. It seems like the owners are cut throat for cutting back on the players.

I still can't believe that NBA owners are actually losing money after the season we just had.

I don't recall the last regular season being all that great as far as ticket sells were concerned.

I would like it if they cut the season down like 12-18 games and start the season later. Sometimes too much is a bad thing. Less games would mean more affordable season tickets, less competing with the NFL, and most likely less losses for owners. I'm sure for most dual fans like myself the basketball season doesn't really start til the football regular season ends.

                    Re: CBA/Lockout Discussion Thread

Tickets arent affordable and they dont really appeal to the average guy anyway. The NBA has been all about the business for some time now, and business just aint that great or as great as it was I should say

That slime Robert Sarver came in and immediately cut overhead no matter what it cost the fans meaning he brought the pain (heartbreak)... guy is like a model owner at this point to some of them

As I said before, Stern or no Stern this is the owners only chance of getting what they want so they're going to go hard, even if they dont end up getting all they want.

Right now all we're getting are PC answers from guys like BK and Fish because theyre in the middle of the fight but still I always laugh at the fake "this is our highest rated and watched series ever" talk becuase its nothing but a bad case of a Corp. reporting fabricated numbers to investors off of assumption and forecast.

                      Re: CBA/Lockout Discussion Thread

Well, whatever the case may be. A lockout is not going to help the situation financially. And canceling games and ultimately the season is going to put the NBA in a financial hole for a while after operations resume.

                        **sigh**

And the interesting thing is, for the most part, he's spent surprisingly well. It's just the STUPIDITY of some of the things that's happened during his time that really bothers me.

Rumors have been swirling since April that summer league would be canceled and the NBA just confimred it. Who else is bummed about this? What are yall going to do? Play 2k11 some more or what?

2004-05 NHL Season, completely lost and although a little different MLB strike of 1994 having the season cancelled mid-season in August resulting in the cancellation of the Playoffs and World Series which in my view is even worse than losing the entire regular season beforehand or the first half of a regular season and eventually having a postseason. Could you imagine having to stomach Pre-All-Star Break basketball only to have no payoff to that season afterward?

It sucks. I watch quite a bit of Summer league right after my basketball tournaments each year. I would watch till I passed out. Fortunately I've bought some new NBA collections on DVD/blu ray to keep me busy. Plus as you mentioned, there is 2K as well.

A real pity as the league is flying at the moment...
