    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

Yeah cuz there were a few analysts predicting this guy to be a franchise changer. I would assume that's like LeBron/Duncan/Durant type aspirations.

Now any of those three guys could change a franchise on their own, with little help. I don't see Davis in that caliber. Now pair Davis with a guy like Deron Williams or Kryie, for example, and I think that'd be pretty good going forward.

      Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

Anthony Davis literally had one of the most remarkable freshman/college/whatever seasons in that he literally got better game by game. I mean I know that's a cliched statement but you could easily see the difference from the beginning of the season to the national championship game. His offensive game is pretty polished, he's got a good touch in the post as he has pretty good handling for his size and he's got a deft touch around the rim.

Also he's clearly got those shoulders than can add another 30 lbs or so without taking away from his game. His game won't be predicated on strength anyways, it'll be more on smarts. Sort of like Brandon Roy in his All-Star years, he wasn't this fast athletic jump out the gym Shooting Guard but he used his I.Q. and strength basically.

On defense it's obvious dude is an absolute ****ing monster. Not even a question asked from day 1 I can picture him at least making All Defensive 2nd Team with his natural ball instincts and smart contests.

So if Davis got drafted to a team, say the Bobcats or Raps, do you see that team instantly contending for the playoffs? Or soon after?

The Bobcats god no that team is just downright awful. Even my brightest expectations they're still awful.

The Raptors I could see with the potential of Jonas Valnciunas coming from overseas this upcoming season (was really high on him and felt he was worth the pick besides of how good he is and hopefully translates).

But the Bobcats just no...no...just ugh no.

I'd love to see the Raptors get him. They haven't had a legitimate big that can defend the rim in I don't know how long. No, washed up Jermaine O'Neal doesn't count.

Also, Bargnani and Davis would be an interesting front court combo. They'd finally have someone that could cover up Bargnani's deficiencies when it comes to defense and rebounding.

Yeah that would be a nice fit.

I personally don't see Davis being true superstar like a LeBron, Dwight or Durant but I think he'll be a nice second tier allstar and a great defender / rebounder / DPOY candidate every year.

Don't see how you can't love Davis. From athleticism to IQ to attitude he has it all. He's Kevin Garnett part 2. He's going to be a first team all defensive player, he already has above average ball skills for his size, he has good touch. He grew 8 inches two years ago, and he's already more polished and fluid than half the big men in the league. He is literally everything you could ask for. His back to the basket game isn't amazing but its still respectable, definitely ahead of the curve for where he should be in his development. He has proven to be a selfless player who doesn't care about scoring while also showing he's capable of more than lobs and putbacks.

He's KG except hell likely average more blocks per game. Find it insane people aren't in love with this guy. He's in that Lebron/Oden/Durant level of prospects.

You think he's going to be a 20+ ppg'er like KG in his prime? That the only part I don't see but other than that I love his game.

I also wonder how long til a stylist gets hold of him and weed whack's that monobrow.

I think it's reasonable to project him as a KG-level player offensively. He was a guard before his growth spurt, has very good form on his shot but he's still adjusting to being 6'11. He started to look more comfortable with his shot and offense as the year went on. He's a kid that will develop more offensively for sure IMO and he has a high offensive ceiling.

Surprised so many people are so quick to ignore his frail frame. Outside of KG(who I think was stronger and more skilled than AD will ever be) what PF in the last dozen or so years has been an all-star as slender as Davis? Are better yet how many productive 4's in the league at all that slight of frame?

                              Chris Bosh?

You're really reaching on this and I don't understand how his "slender frame" keeps him from being a top 5 prospect in your eyes. IMO it seems like that was just for shock value more than anything.

Chris Bosh isn't that much bigger than Anthony but he has the same type of body frame and he seems to be doing well for himself.
