But it was over until that dude came in and responded to every post in the thread. Let this **** die lol. The consensus is the Dream Team would win. Now people are arguing whether it would be by 10 points or 20 points.

So basically people are arguing whether it would be worse to get spanked by your Parents as a kid(in a non freaky way of course)or getting your *** beat with the belt as a kid.

It's gonna be a long 2 months I can tell already.

Shut down juan carlos navarro from scoring before claiming they'd neuter hof players lol

Come on man a 40 year old mj averaged 20ppg

          That says alot

Outside of the barrage of quotes, and people coming in just to say things "this shouldn't even be a question" there's actually been good discussion...

But I guess they should probably lock this up at this point

I don't need nostalgia to tell me that the Dream Team would have some obvious mismatches over this team.

I mean we just seen what this team looks when there 3s are not falling in and it wasn't pretty.

That's probably why no one has said the 2012 team could beat the Dream Team, lol..

acting like '85 Magic and Bird were on this tram is definitely nostalgia kicking in, or call it what you want to call it....it's as ridiculous as not recognizing what version of Kobe is on this 2012 team

I'm not sure I've seen too many people here claiming Larry Bird and Magic Johnson to be their '85 selves (or any form of prime). It seems mostly everyone is writing off Bird right from the start, due to the back issues he was suffering from at the time.

And in Magic's case, it seems most folks are acknowledging he'd taken a year off, but still averaged 19, 7 and 13 and led his team to the NBA Finals in that final season prior to his HIV announcement. And considering he'd eventually take four seasons off and still return to average 15, 6, and 7 in '96 means he probably had a fair amount left in the tank in '92. Even if we wanted to meet those two statlines in the middle (which wouldn't be terribly scientific), it'd seem to insinuate he'd have been a 17, 7, and 10 guy in '94, two years after the Olympics concluded. Basically, we weren't exactly dealing with an Orlando era Patrick Ewing here. Not to mention, he was never really a player who was overly reliant on freakish athleticism, so I think his decline was tempered as a result.

Def agree....there have just been exaggerations on both sides the Magic conversation

Except nobody said this. They were talking about Magic retiring and then coming back 2 years later and still being productive as if he never left in the 1st place. People already acknowledged Bird wouldn't really contribute much due to his Back Issues.

I've read this entire thread plenty of times and not one person said anything about "Oh if this was 85 Magic and Bird on the 92 team...". It's all been about Magic coming back from HIV and Bird and his back issues.

Now the most ridiculous thing said in here was that this Kobe would slow down '92 MJ.

I think its safe to say we know who would win

Trying to pick out a weakness in the dream team's lineup would be fruitless because they had so much of everything fundamentally, they never had to rely on things like jumping high or running really fast to win, and I don't think these guys today would make them change their playing style either

Magic was Magic for a reason, and unless someone was going to shut down his brain, Chris Paul, Deron nor Westbrook was going to negate his impact on the game

There were some arguments being made that it would be equal on both sides with matchups and I disagree, because as I stated earlier, this team would be battered in the post on both ends, and not just from the centers

Well if you want to continue to play the "no one said that exact thing" game....no one said this either, lol

Sounds like your essentially saying the team is flawless here, and as much as I love these guys, I just don't agree with that...

Like you said though, at the end of the day we all know the answer to the question at hand.

I said they did so many things so well its useless to try to pick out one or two things to build up your argument for the current team
