Re: 2014 Draft Class
I don't think the Kings take Smart. They just drafted Ben and already have a scoring guard.. I think someone to play along side Cousins like Vonleh, or Randle if he's there.. Also I think Rudy's contract is up, so it might make the most sense for them to draft McDermott, since he's the only decent SF in the draft outside of the guys who will go top 5.

Re: 2014 Draft Class
They would have 10 future pros on their team if they do come back.
Harrison-Harrison-Booker-Poythress-Lee-Lyles-Towns-Cauley-Stein-Johnson-Willis (I think he'll be a pro one day).
Easily best team in the country next year imo, considering they would have their whole core minus Young & Randle back from a team that just went to the title game + adding 4 top 30 recruits.
That's also not counting Tyler Ulis who I think could be one when his 4 years area over at UK. Him being 5-9 really hurts him though.Last edited by redsrule; 04-24-2014, 01:56 PM.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Draft Class
Also:
@APSE_sportmedia: One-and-done: Silver working with #NBA players assn to raise minimum age to 20. Could take effect for 2015.
I hope this happens so bad. It would help the NBA & College a lot. With the way a lot of AAU/High School basketball is nowadays, a lot of these "hyped" kids need more than a year in college to develop their fundamentals. It will obviously hurt the "phenoms" like Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Wall, etc but one extra year in college isn't a bad thing. There's always oversees/the D-League as well.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Completely disagree that it helps anything.. But we have a whole separate thread for that talk.

Re: 2014 Draft Class
2015? How is that possible? I thought the NBAPA was against any type of age limit. I wonder what concessions Silver is willing to compromise on in return.
It will help the college game more than it helps the NBA, though that somewhat indirectly is helping the NBA lol."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

2014 Draft Class
If the age limit moves to 20 I think it's fair to let teams use their draft picks on high school players, and stash them in the D-League until they are 20 years old, then bring them up.. That way any kid that doesn't want to go to college doesn't have to and they can earn a living..
Forcing a kid who doesn't want to go to school in the first place to stay an extra year is a waste of time and scholarship money that would otherwise go to someone who actually wants to go to college to earn a degree and better themselves outside of sports.

A lot of these "phenoms" come into college with no fundamentals and little understanding of the game. This would end up hurting the true one and done type players like I said, but there is normally maybe 1-2 of them a year.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Draft Class
You don't have to have a degree to play basketball.. Basketball is their JOB.. Just forcing them to go to college for two pointless years doesn't make any sense at all.. Neither does saying "move to another country".. How's that logical?

Re: 2014 Draft Class
I don't exactly remember, but Jennings made like 1mil + or so I believe + some endorsements and got experience playing against pro guys.
Another negative I see is situations like Nerlens Noel. He tore his ACL and missed all of this year. Under the 2 year rule, he has to rehab in college while still going to class and not playing. Since he left and got picked in the draft though, he got paid 3 million to rehab his knee.

Nobody is forcing them to go oversees either. You can go straight to the D-League and play instead of College.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals
