Re: Coach of the Year: Gregg Popovich

NBA is 2 for 2 so far in their regular season awards.

Congrats to Pop. Much deserved and he continues to get the most out of guys who wouldn't even be contributors on most of the teams out here. The amazing part is that you know his priority is to have his guys healthy for the playoffs and you know he's going to rest his key guys during stretches of the year(or they'll get hurt )and yet they keep on moving as evidenced by their 19 game win streak. Can't find too many more impressive things than that.

Pretty sure he'd have won it whether it was sportswriters, players, other coaches or aliens from Mars voting.

He is one of the names on the list that are completely acceptable choices. Pop is absolutely amazing. Well deserved.

Let's also not forget that the Spurs had a lot of injuries this year.

Pop or Thib... It's really close. Both did an amazing job.

                Thib third? Kidd that low?

                Surprising.

I'm not even mad at that list at all. The Jackson thing could go and Kidd could be higher, but overall, not a problem with it.

Re: Coach of the Year: Gregg Popovich

Popovich deserved to win considering the age of the Spurs and that it's their 2nd best season with him as coach(and they were best team in league too), but I'm abit surprised Suns and Bulls were so high up. Suns did improve more than anyone, but they didn't make playoffs. Bulls improved by just a few games over last year, and both seasons they didn't have Rose, so it's not like they suddenly improved this year after losing Rose to end last season.

Not saying that Pop didn't deserve it, but I thought Thibs and Hornacek were more deserving this season.

Not bad progress considering the **** he was dealing with earlier in the season.

I don't think Scotty Brooks is a good coach & he has the perceived MVP on his squad but to finish 2nd in the West with injuries to Westbrook, Perk, and Thabo is good enough to earn 1 vote.

Hornacek might've been considered more highly had his team made the playoffs.

I can't be mad at Pop but I wouldn't be mad if Thibbs won it either. Sadly only one guy can win it, but I'd say pick one from each conference and that would be a nice change of pace

You can't look at it in black and white terms like that. Yes, they finished about the same as they did last year without Rose, but with an entirely different team. Joakim Noah, Kirk Hinrich and Carlos Boozer are the only starters from last years team that were still here not counting prior to the Deng trade. This is yet another example of why just looking at a number on a piece of paper with no context is useless.

As a biased Bobcats fan, I was pulling for Clifford to win it, but Pop is certainly deserving. Best coach in the league. Congrats to him.
