Well I was half kidding lol. But KD was clearly the reason for the Thunder doing so well despite Westbrook's absence. This is a players league first and foremost. I haven't seen brooks do anything in particular to say he earns any kind of credit for this season. Maybe you watched more of OKC than I did.

If it was all Kevin Durant OKC would only be slightly better than the Knicks. OKC is a great team and Brooks is part of the reason they are who they are. They play great defense and the bench comes in and contributes. Brooks definately has flaws especially offensively but he does a lot right too. He's no pringles or Woodson in the way he manages people. You don't hear players complaining about him do you?

Right but he's still an awful coach and nowhere near deserving of a CotY vote. His only good move he's made was putting Thabo on Parker in 2012. His late game offense is just "let WB or KD bail me out" his defense relies heavily on athleticism of his players, rather than sets. IMO if the Thunder lose this year he'll be out as coach.

I sure hope you don't lose your mind(slight hyperbole) if Dirk doesn't even get an honorable mention for MVP.
Of course it doesn't, it would just be nice to see him get some recognition in these award things.

And I don't expect Dirk to get an honorable mention for MVP at all.

I don't agree with awfull coach. He's no COTY that's for sure. But awfull coach? That's Mike Brown.

I'm team Brooks yes his offenses aren't things of beauty but I think he's a heck of a coach.

People act like he's Mike Brown or something it's ridiculous imo

“Why don’t we just give him coach of the century,” Carlisle said. “He’s the greatest. And obviously, very well deserved. They were almost a wire-to-wire top seed in the league. He’s the best.”

I honestly haven't seen much progreess in OKCs offense over the past few years really. I've seen it happen with Spo, but not Brooks.

Gotta love the mutual respect the Spurs and Mavs have for each other from the players to the coaching staff to the management, two class act organizations from top to bottom.

I still hate the Spurs though.

I don't think people are comparing him to Woodson lol. Just to be clear, I'm not on the side that's saying he's an awful coach. I think he's just in the middle of the pack. Not really adding much, but not taking much away from the team. I wouldn't say he deserves credit for being a mediocre coach. But that's just my opinion of course.

Brooks' Offense actually showed improvement during the season....I think most even acknowledged that he was "finally evolving" as a Coach.

Not sure what's happened thru the first 2 games so far. But this thread isn't about Brooks so I won't take it too far OT.

Memphis has a lot to do with how OKC has looked so far in the playoffs. I think we can all agree that they're not your typical 7 seed.

Brooks has a done a better job this year than any years in the past IMO, including the one's where OKC made the leap from young team with immense talent to playoff team of the future (losing to LA) to their Finals appearance.

Losing your 2nd best player for significant time and then gradually bringing him back all-the-while getting the #2 seed in what's been one of the most competitive seasons ever in the West is nothing to frown upon, even with KD's ridiculous season.

And btw, I've seen him use KD in better ways, getting him the ball in areas where he can either see the double-coming or he can get a shot before it comes.

It's always Westbrook and KD. That's the point nothing has really changed.

You say that as if it's some sort of detriment to them. What else would you want to see them or him more specifically do?

We've been through this before man.

I also see they still run the same old down screen play for Durant as well.
