You could have made an argument for any of those top 5 guys.

At the end of the day, it's not like we are going to think less of those other guys because they weren't named COY.

well deserved. Pop kept everyone on the roster under 30 minutes per game and still ended up with the best record in the league. Amazing job done this year.

I though Hornacek had a good chance with the +23 wins year over year which was the best in league, but missing the playoffs probably hurt his chances. Only time a coach won not making the playoffs was Doc Rivers in 2000 with Orlando.

Thibodeau was amazing as well with the roster to work with after losing Rose and Deng.

Clifford for just changing the culture deserves alot of credit.

Well deserved to one of the best coaches in NBA history. Lots of great coaches in the NBA this year that did a great job as well.

The list went exactly how I thought it should have.

Pops and Hornacek by a wide margin deserved it

            Then Thibbs

            Then everyone else

I can't be mad at the choice or the order, to be honest. A worthy selection among a fairly large field of candidates. Pretty impressive what Coach Pop, and the Spurs organization, does every year. It does feel like there are more legitimate selections this year, which is not a bad thing, but maybe not.

Honestly I think those top 5 or so guys are exactly who I would have chosen and in that exact order.. And I think most would agree with that order, or something similar to it.

We can complain about the media getting the votes but thus far I think they've done a great job. I don't think this outcome would have changed regardless of who voted.

Glad to see Kidd get a little recognition. I think once the second half of the season started and he had a better sense of his game plan and what line ups he liked most he did a really great job. Night and day difference between the first and second half of the season.

Pop deserved it but i'd thought Casey would've ended up being closer than 5th place.

Thibs did more? I'm not sure how you could possibly quantify how Thibs did "more" considering the Spurs had the best record in the league by far and were 14 games better than the Bulls.

If you want to argue for the job Thibs did with the Bulls and their injuries, go for it, he was definitely a deserving candidate, but don't say he did MORE than the best team in the league.

One game away from making the playoffs and winning coach of the year.

                          Too bad.

Indeed, plus the Spurs had a lot of injuries, too. Parker, Leonard, Green, Ginobili, Splitter, etc. all missed a decent amount of time.

And then, of course, there's the games Pop rests the Big Three.

                              Games played/Percentage of Games Missed:

                              Parker: 68/17%
                              Duncan: 74/10%
                              Leonard: 66/20%
                              Ginobili: 68/17%
                              Green: 68/17%
                              Splitter: 59/28%

Bonner, Baynes, etc. also missed a decent amount of time, but they aren't regular rotation players.

                              -------

Also, remember that this year's Spurs squad is the first team since the ABA/NBA merger that a team has gone an NBA season with no player averaging 30+ minutes per game.

Wow I didn't even notice that Carlisle didn't get a single vote. It's laughable when you see Mark Jackson and Scott Brooks there.
Anyways, Pop deserved it. I know people like to pick their own coach, but I can't see an argument that anyone else is more deserving.
