He's worth maybe 14 but not in Cleveland as his skillset is pretty redundant with other players

14 sounds like too much for Thompson. Maybe in the last year of a deal, but a deal starting at 14 mil a year? Nah, not in old NBA money anyway. That may be too much in new money too though.

Stuckey resigns with Indy, 3 years 21 mil. Cuts into our cap space quite a bit...

Dunno. We have a lot of guards... must be really wanting to go with this small ball idea Bird was talking about.

Which would be fine if Tristan were actually worth anywhere near 16 million. At this point the Cavs should just go back to their original offer and dare him to find a better deal in free agency. They wont do that because they're scared of Lebron, though.

Damn, would have liked to get Stuckey. Need the guard depth. Might be a good landing spot for a Taj Gibson?

Isn't lebron part owner of the agency that represents TT?

Windhorst said Lebron has held off signing his deal until Cavs finalize with TT.

Supposedly irked that Cavs are talking about pursuing West while TT isn't locked up.

When Cavs were winning in the last third of the season, wasn't it TT that got crunch time minutes for his defense and rebounding rather than Love?

Wonder if Lebron would have played Love or TT more in the playoffs.

It's ridiculous honestly, if there are people who actually believe he's worth that then this whole playoff push thing overrated him more than it did Delly.

He's a decent overall rebounder, though he's very good on the offensive boards. Has almost zero offensive game. I believe he was averaging like 1-2ppg the first couple games before they started going to a "hack a Thompson". He's a decent defender, mostly just a hustle defender. Not tall enough or long enough to really protect the rim, not keen enough to always be in the right spots in help, though when he is forced to switch to a guard he's quick enough to not be a liability which is a plus.

He's a good rebounder for a guy who's only 6'8"-6'9" ish, but not a great rebounder for a guy who's game relies on being inside and spends lots of minutes at center. For example, if someone like Deandre was playing 40 minutes a night he would be grabbing damn near 18-20 rebounds, Thompson didn't even average as many as LeBron, and wasn't really even a double double threat until they started fouling him intentionally.. Yet he needs 15-20 a year price tag?

Honestly as far as his skill set, and his play style goes he reminds me a lot of Thomas Robinson. One will make 15-20 mil a year and the other 1 mil a year. Obviously there are reasons that Thompson is a better fit for Cleveland and a better player than Robinson is, but skill/talent wise they aren't far apart. Tristan shouldn't make over 10 mil a year, and honestly even if he had the exact same season he just had if LeBron wasn't there and they weren't contenders he would probably be in the 7-8 mil range next year.

That's the NBA for you though. Team "fit" and opportunity play such a huge role basketball. And TT could still develop into the type of player who is worth that kind of money. He just has lots and lots to develop. That's a lot of cash to spend on a hustle guy, but Cleveland definitely needs that's type of player and he's LeBron's boy.

Definitely agree that he's not worth anywhere near a max contract, but I think he has more of an impact for the Cavs than given credit for, and that can't be easily replaced....

Some other team should just make him an offer. Force cavs to pay him alot, even if they might not want to.

Definitely. His chemistry with LeBron alone makes him worth more to the Cavs than half the forwards in the league.

You still don't pay 15-20 mil for a 6th/7th man lol.

Even if the Cavs don't resign TT, they still don't have any room to sign anyone right? He's probably worth an overpay, just not that much, lol

This is first offseason maybe ever in franchise history that Raptors are making abunch of moves which isn't making the team worse. Can't blame me for getting excited about all the possibilities for the team.
Last year they re-signed Lowry and he made the all star game and they traded John Salmons for the 6th man of the year in Lou Williams and another player... And this is the 1st offseason they didn't make their team worse???

He's definitely worth an overpay for them. And if that's how much they have to pay to keep him then I guess that's what they have to do. He'll just never be able to give them an on court value worth anything close to his pay check.. I'm not mad about it though, I love what he brings to that team.

Rumor that the Cavs would trade Haywood's contract and Varejao for Joe Johnson? Pack have you heard anything on this?

I know BK wants rid of his contract, and I know Cleveland likely wants rid of Andy's since I'm sure they want Mozgov and TT long term.
