    @ESPNSteinLine
    Hearing that the Heat now expect Luol Deng to opt for free agency and join Dwyane Wade on the open market come Wednesday

    @WallaceNBA_ESPN
    Best read on Wade amid midnight option deadline is nothing's changed. Seems he'll let opt-in deadline pass and roll into free agency July1

    Miami gonna be busy this summer

      What is the realistic market for Wade?

      Can he command more than what Paul Pierce is likely to get, that is a minimum contract for a chance to play with a contender?

      Can he get a bigger, longer deal than what Miami was offering him?

        Like a Mo Williams or someone. They are in desperate need of bench scoring. If they can manage to get Williams and bring JR Smith off the bench next year, the bench scoring problem will be mostly solved between those two, Thompson and Varejao.
        Plus you have whoever they get from the Haywood trade

          Who are they going to get for Haywood on a 10 million contract. It will honestly be a protected 2nd round pick. For instance they send Haywood and a first to Philly for a 2nd rounder that is protected in the top 50.

            I'm still waiting to hear from him what has changed in this "situation" from what we already supposedly knew. All that's happened was that the Bulls got the brakes beat off them in game 6, then Bernstein (who's been grinding an axe against Rose for about 2 years at least) comes out with Rose was being passive because of tension with Butler. Tension that apparently suddenly developed in one game, on the last game of the season because nobody including this dude reported **** about any sort of issue between them all year even though Jimmy "emerged" as the best player on the team way back in October when the season started, but yet that's where the issues are from, Jimmy becoming a star.

            I have a pretty good idea where this is coming from with TK today, because I saw the latest ball of crap that came out too, but I just wanna see what he says before I blow it out of the water.

              I think they can take someone's contract for $12m back. That's a pretty significant amount. I just don't know whos available, and what teams are looking to cut cap space

                Yahoo Sports

                Chicago Bulls restricted free-agent guard Jimmy Butler has plans to pursue shorter-term offer sheets this summer, resisting the Bulls’ initial plans to offer him a five-year, maximum contract extension, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

                As the NBA’s salary cap is set to dramatically rise beginning with the 2016-17 season, Butler has become far less interested in locking himself into the five-year, $90 million-plus deal the Bulls are expected to present him on July 1, league sources said.

                Besides the QO, what does he want a 2 year deal?

                    A lot of players are smart to take shorter deals now.

                    They'll get paid in the short term, but then they'll REALLY get paid once the TV money rolls in and the cap goes up. And if they're still young, that plays right into their hands.

                      I wonder who Memphis would've sent over in such a deal?

                      I know Johnson's contract is expiring after this year so that should hold some value.

                        Haywood's contract holds value because it's completely unguaranteed, meaning that a team can cut him with no penalty. It's pretty valuable for a team looking to cut their cap to either get under the cap for free agents or to avoid the tax.

                        I'm not expecting a game changer from that trade, but a solid backup isn't unreasonable

                            Of course they could suffer a serious injury while on these short term deals and then not get offered as big a long-term deal after the cap goes up.

                              A team in the process of rebuilding would trade a 8 or 9 mil guy just to get it off their books.

                                @ByTimReynolds: Luol Deng's agent Herb Rudoy says his client is staying with the Heat for the 2015-16 season. "He opted in 2 minutes ago," Rudoy said.
