Let's say a team wins the lottery and gets the rights to Zion, what else would they need to add to the package?

In my opinion they would have to give up a lot. The Pelicans aren’t trading him for something un-proven no matter how much of a “can’t miss” he seems to be. Every year the top prospects are a “can’t miss”. Just like Pack posted in the other thread, this year DLo and Towns (2015 class) is the first 1 and 2 pick to both make an All-Star game since the 1999 class. There are no certainties at the top of the draft, it’s extremely rare that everyone you think will be a star is actually a star.

That’s part of the reason why Boston’s assets aren’t that attractive to me. You can’t even guarantee the top 2 picks will be All-Stars.. you’re going to tell me 3 picks that could all very realistically land outside the top 10 (in the Clippers case likely a 2nd round pick) is worth giving up a top 5 player with hopes that they are All-Stars, or even one of them is.. that’s a LONG shot.

You also have the whole one year rental aspect. Which out of any team with a shot at Zion means only New York has a shot.. I think Zion, plus some combination of Smith Jr, Robinson, Knox.. which at that point do you even give that up for Davis? New York would have to be banking on another star coming. Phoenix has the pieces, they could trade Zion and Ayton/Booker, or Zion, Jackson, Bruges.. but he’s not going to stay there.

I’m not saying that wasn’t an offer but it’s funny how the lowball one is the one that leaked. I think either someone in Pelicans/Celtics, leaked this info to make LA look bad so Pelicans can say they’ll just wait till the summer.

We’ve went from they haven’t talked & Pelicans not picking up, to Magic sent in 100 different trades to this lowball offer.

Well I find it funny that ever one wants the lakers to like give away to much and do like the opposite of lowball by giving away both BI and Kuz. If they give like ever one away its going to be two great players and a bunch of crap around them. It kind of reminds me of years ago when Knicks gave up like there 3 best players at the time for Carmelo to the Nuggets and has a result nuggets where not really any worse with out Carmelo and Knicks where not really better with Carmelo even though he was a allstar at the time because they gave the nuggets to darn much for him.

“Reports” now that the Pelicans are expected to offer the Lakers a counter offer taking back one of their contracts and adding a 2nd pick. Not sure which of the 7 offers this is countering though [emoji23]

The veteran players raised their voice on topics of Walton’s playing time distribution and rotations, sources said. Hope afterward among players and coaches was that this helped cleanse issues within the team.
