    "That's it"

You say that like losing Nurkic wasn't a big deal. Lol

That was huge. You could make the argument that Nurkic was their second best player, as in, more important than McCollum to the team (numbers say he was their best player. But I obviously wouldn't go that far [emoji23]). That's a big loss.

So Denver losing to them while at the same time being at full strength with the homecourt advantage is a bit of an upset in my books. 🤷🏾*♂️

      Denver was at full strength?

I think the only way you can underrate the impact of this move and still see Nuggets as the team to beat is if you also underrate Mike Conley.

The Jazz offense will improve big time. Their defense should also be even better than it already was. And he brings a "clutch" element that they were sorely missing. When the Grizzlies were a playoff team, I remember him being one of, if not the most, clutch players in the league backed by statistics.

This is a MAJOR upgrade over what they had in Rubio and immediately puts them into the title picture next year...ahead of the Nuggets.
The nuggets are deep and like I said young if just 1 or 2 of those young guys improves a little bit that will help and yes lost to the Blazers but they didn't have much playoff experience and with having several game 7 this year that is only going to help them next year.

Just saw Thunder may trade Adams I wonder who might want him and what they would have to give up. I would take Adams on my team any day of the week.

Yh true. Maybe the Nuggets still ahead, but only by a really slim margin now imo. I feel like Conley add's alot more to the team than some think...especially defensively. They are gonna be a nightmare on the defensive side of the ball. Only time will tell tbh though.

Man I hope not. Who they gonna replace a good rim protecting center with? I'll take Horford maybe, but don't see that happening. Plus, I love Steven Adams lol. If he leaves i'll be hurt just like when KD left smh.

That would be a pure salary dump but im not sure it happens.

They'd have no real rim protection at that point.

Might make sense for them.. Find someone who can defend at a cheaper rate, because they basically went away from utilizing him at all on the offensive end.. Might as well get away from that contract if you only use half his service.

All's I know is Utah beat Denver 3 out of 4 games last year. And they've gotten much better with the addition of Conley. And that they too have young guys that can get better.

Not that that matters I guess. Lol

This is a really long read but if you're interested in just how much of a mess the Lakers FO (and other tidbits) is, this is all from a verified insider. https://old.reddit.com/r/lakers/comm...der_who_posts/

                      Some tidbits:

                      - Kurt Rambis has more power than most would probably like.
                      - Jeanie doesn't know what she's doing
                      - NBA lost a lot of revenue with the Lakers/LeBron missing out on the playoffs, so there's NBA executives basically holding Jeanie's hand to help her out because the Lakers are so important to the NBA's success
                      - Kobe is lowkey recruiting Kyrie as a favor to Pelinka but wants his name kept out for his brand's purposes
                      - AEG (a very powerful media company) is working on a relationship with New Balance to try and attract Kawhi to the Lakers
                      - Steve Ballmer paid for a lot of media time to make the LAC look like an attractive destination
                      - Kawhi's brand will go much further with LAL than LAC

Just to add on to this...

Gobert also has historically neutralized Jokic's impact in their games. People say Denver wasn't at their full strength in the postseason, who all were they missing exactly? If you're expecting to get a meaningful contribution from Michael Porter Jr., then that's just silly.

If the question people are asking about the Jazz right now is that they have poor spacing, is that not what they are currently addressing right now by swapping out Crowder and Rubio for Conley? We relied on Crowder and Rubio all season for three-point shooting and we saw how that turned out in the playoffs. It's not like the Jazz have some more cap space to sign a few more shooters or anything like that...

So the year GS is going to be hobbling, OKC is worrying about the luxury tax and going to trade away their Center to get below the cap?

I find this really hard to believe.

I think most teams out West are going to go for it rather than dial it back.

You forget I'm a Portland fan so I'm well aware of the ramifications of Nurkic being out but that was also the series that Kanter stepped up and performed unlike the series against Golden St when his minutes dwindled into nothing while Collins and Leonard got more minutes. Nurkic wouldn't have provided much more then Kanter did so realistically him not being there in the Denver series wasn't a huge deal, now had Kanter not stepped up and abused Denver on the boards at times then yes his absence would have been felt but that wasn't the case. I still don't see how it can be labeled as an upset unless you just go off seeding alone I suppose.

Yeah they may not but they were talking about this long before the season ended, before those injuries to GS.

Sounds as strange then as it does now
