Trading Crabbe and renouncing DLo gets them two max slots. Their highest paid player going into next season is Dinwiddie lol..

I'm not sure how contract timing works, but if they can sign DLo after the fact using his bird rights, they should be able to land 2 guys in that 30-40 mil range and still sign DLo after.

Unless I'm just way off on that, they were only on the books for like 54mil with Crabbe's 18.5 included. They are only taking back around 3 mil with Prince

Renouncing Dlo means giving up his bird rights.

This likely hurts the Nets chances of landing AD as they cant offer this years 17th pick or next year 1st. They also don't have Crabbe to add in just to make the math work.

Their pick is 1-14 protected. They still have Demarre Carroll who's more expendable with Prince there.

Renouncing him would give up his bird rights, but singing him after they've already signed other players wouldn't, or would it?

All they would have to do is use their cap space for whoever then sign DLO to a new deal using his bird rights

I might be off but if my math is right, keeping DeAngelo = roughly $43 million in cap space. Letting him go gets them up over $60 mil but once he’s gone he’s gone.

So basically it’s either Max Contract, DeAngelo, and decent role player, or two max contracts.

I guess I'm a bit confused on the timing aspect of all this. DLo's contract is up this year, is there any sort of rule that says he has to be signed or renounced first? Like before signing other free agents? Because if not couldn't they sign their two guys and then offer DLo his new deal using bird rights?
