      Re: 2019 Offseason Thread

Seeing the Warriors struggle due to their lack of depth really makes me think twice about if I want the Lakers to sacrifice all their young players to acquire AD.

It's all fun and games when you're healthy but if one guy goes down, it can end in a flash. I mean we saw it in 2014 with the Heat, we saw it in 2015 with the Cavs, we're seeing it now with GS.

LeBron + AD + another max FA like Kyrie or Jimmy Butler would be great. But if it means losing Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, and Hart to get those 3...not sure it's worth it. Especially when Kyrie/AD/Jimmy Butler aren't exactly the most durable guys, plus LeBron just getting older and older.

        Tony Parker is retiring.

SAN ANTONIO — Smiling as he sat down in a hotel suite in the “Alamo City,” Tony Parker looked at peace. After 18 NBA seasons, it was only fitting he was going to make an important announcement in San Antonio, where he was raised from a teenager to a man after coming over from France […]

David Griffin telling teams that multiple teams are likely gonna be needed to complete a deal for AD. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...eam-davis-deal

He's stated he wants draft picks before draft day to better evaluate the talent, so meaning he wants the trade done days before the draft. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that take the Lakers' max slot away? I thought I read they have to sign a max FA first and then trade for AD after cause you only have to match 80% of the salaries.

Why don't they scout all over the draft like (presumably) every other team does? They may not get private workouts from every prospect they want but that's not guaranteed regardless of how high a pick they acquire.

Yea I think its better for the Lakers cap space to wait till after FA and they use their cap space. Its obviously a lot better for the other 4 teams also once they figure out who they are going to sign. The lakers are the only team I could see making a deal before the draft.

The Celtics are the team I think are most likely, they aren't waiting for anything in free agency like the rest of the teams are that they can't sign with bird rights.

They are still waiting on Irving unless they are given up any hope of bringing him back. I just don't see why they would give up all the assets / draft picks if Irving is gone.

All-Star, potential All-Star, and two firsts sounds a lot like Hayward, Tatum, and Boston's picks.

Pretty sure no one will want Hayward's awful contract. Boston is stuck with that.

They would have to take his, or Horford's.. Boston is over the cap ever with Kyrie out I believe.. They'll have to get up to that 80% or whatever. Maybe Smart's contract gets them there? But that's not an All-Star guy.

That's not a good enough offer for NO to take even if Boston would be willing to take on either Hill or Moore's contract which I believe they would have to do for the math to work. Boston's pick this year aren't that good and the Memphis pick next year has protections.

Hayward isn't a all star player now maybe he will gain that back closer to the deadline for now he isn't. He makes 32 million next year and 34 million the year after so overall his contract is a negative. I don't think their is a team in the league that would take on his contract even if they didn't have to give up a asset. The other issue that nobody mentions is everyone gets worse once they leave Boston so that has to play a factor in getting Tatum or Brown.

I wouldn’t hang on Griffin trade demands for AD. He’s probably just fishing to see what teams are willing to offer. I’m sure he’ll still take the best deal even if it doesn’t meet his criteria.

Fairly certain that the Cavs will be a part of any multi team deal.

They have an all-star to burn who doesn't have that much value, a very good tradeable contract in JR and the willingness to take on money.

So Shams is reporting that Anthony Davis has now narrowed his list down to the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks.

This dude don't care about winning.
