I don't think many teams will give him a max for 4 years coming off a Achilles when you factor in his age and being 7 feet tall. Even if the Knicks do offer the max I don't see why they would trade everything else for AD with Durant out for the year.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Boogie just tore his Achilles last year and looks like a shell of the player he used to be.
Rudy Gay tore his Achilles in January 2017, had to re-learn how to walk, was 30 years old and doesn't play nearly as many minutes as he used to. His per 36 numbers are the same if that makes people feel better about it.
This injury alters careers. Dominique Wilkins is the only freak of nature to somehow come back and perform better post-achilles injury. I wouldn't expect that from an extremely lanky guy like Durant.Comment

Don't forget Wesley Matthews as well, who was looking like a future star before he blew out his achilles and now his career is basically over. Kobe was a total shell of himself as well.Too Old To Game Club

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Sure, but I promise you that NBA teams will be willing to gamble that he recovers. This isn’t Cousins here who teams openly questioned whether or not he even helped teams win. This is a guy that many view as the best player in the NBA.

Never underestimate the stupidity of NBA front offices. Someone will offer KD a max this summer; my guess is that multiple teams will."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
So if you're Durant, do you opt into the final year of that Warriors deal? Or do you bank on some team being desperate enough to still offer that max and just sign with whomever is willing to offer it?
This also pretty much guarantees that the Warriors will not be playing with KD next season one way or another.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Well, he would know one way or another behind the scenes if a team will offer him the max. At this point, with this injury, if someone offers him the max and the team situation is satisfactory to him then I would take the money.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Another question might be, does GS even want him to opt in? If they sign Klay and he opts in they'll be paying some ridiculous amounts in luxury tax.. I believe Durant was always going to opt out, even if he stayed, but this could change things.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
If someone is willing to give the max, he has to take the money. That can be a career changing injury especially for a 7 footer who is 30. Most players don't come back the same. Boogie only chance at a max is to sign another one year deal and ball out next year. Only way I Think he stays is if he doesn't want to take a paycut if he won't get a max deal.
I rather get on new deal with max money and hope another superstar still wants to pair up. That could change their plans. Some might not want a throwaway year if Durant doesn't playComment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Yeah I doubt KD opts in, most people forget he's already on a discounted contract. Time for him to get the max from someone. Like stated above, there's no shortage of stupidity when it comes to front offices. If Mozgov and Deng can get paid, Durant will too.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
That's tough to gauge. If they keep Klay and KD comes back by the playoffs at even 70-80 percent of himself he's got a decent chance of getting at least one more ring before he decided to leave.
Another question might be, does GS even want him to opt in? If they sign Klay and he opts in they'll be paying some ridiculous amounts in luxury tax.. I believe Durant was always going to opt out, even if he stayed, but this could change things.
Uhh when was GS questioning how hurt he really was and what teammates? Draymond said that when they got into a yelling match with each other. People say **** to each other in the heat of the moment all the time. We really gonna ignore all the other time they've spent together for the last 3 years over one mid game argument? In any event, that's a teammate, not teammates. Sounds like you're exaggerating things quite a bit there.Last edited by King_B_Mack; 06-11-2019, 10:52 AM.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
My guess is the teams that planned to max him out 24 hours ago still plan to max him out today. I would be shocked if anyone passed on him.
