Even if things don't work out with all the FA moves this year, I'll have no complaints. It's good to see the FO make decisive moves after that Kawhi nonsense last year.

A lot of folks were saying the Baynes was a strong probability for Toronto and there it is.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

That’s a good spot for Barnes he will start for them. Toronto should still make that playoff prob the 6/7 seed.

So what’s the lineup looking like for the lakers ?

Did anyone else improve as much as the Lakers? Replaced a $15 mil per year guy with an equal at what, $3 mil? Signed the 6MOY and the runner up. Nabbed a former DPOY center that looks washed (just like Dwight last year).

I’m going to assume - Bron, KCP, Kuzma, AD, Gasol

With Schröder, Caruso, Mathews, Harrell making up about 90% of the rotation.

Only saying that because I think Rob hinted at Kuz getting more more minutes out on the wing, I also think he needs more minutes and needs to learn to coexist with AD on the floor.

Otherwise Wes will start and it would be basically the name line-up as the bubble. Gasol in place of McGee, Wes in place of Green.

But who knows, I wouldn’t be surprised if Harrell wasn’t promised a starting spot and bigger role than he had with the Clips to sign for the MLE. So maybe he starts the 5. I like the idea of a stacked bench though.

Sucks to lose Ibaka, but decent pickup to get Baynes.

Hopefully the Raptors aren't done on the big man front.

Not sure what either of their reputations are as far as working hard to improve, but I would like them both to stay. McKinnie is a strong defender from what I’ve seen, and all they need from Bell is for him to him give some energy like Morris did.

Some contenders likely interested in Batum. Does dude have anything at all left in the tank though? Not caught much of him lately, the little I have he seemed done.

He has seemed done, but someone has to take a flyer on a player who is only about to turn 32 and hasn't had an Achilles or an ACL injury.

I like your lineup I would also start Gasol and let Harrell be the man on the 2nd unit. I’m sure he will still play more minutes. I’ve heard some chatter about Wes starting so that could have been in the sales pitch to get him.

I think you would want to space out Kuzma Schroeder and Harrell and not have all 3 of them on the same unit. I would also throw out THT and see what he has. You might get lucky and him be able it play some in the regular season.

No shade..but does Gasol have anything left in the tank? I didn’t watch too much of him but he didn’t look good when I saw him.

He was still productive his last year with Memphis but clearly not much left. However the Raptors got a lot of big plays out of him in route to a championship. I don’t recall the exact games but lots of “this is why they traded for him” moments. Seemed kinda washed last year when I watched them, but I’m sure the Lakers are banking on those select big plays come playoff time since his work load will be low otherwise. He’s not athletic to begin with, so I don’t expect him to be much more washed than he was 2 years ago, he was slow footed even at his peak.

Personally I like the addition simply because he’s only replacing McGee who likely wasn’t expected to often see more than 20 minutes anyways. And he’s just a much smarter more polished player, and has added that 3 point shot.

Gasol isn’t a rim runner but sets good screens and is a good passer. I’m not blown away with Vogel’s offensive schemes but Gasol setting ball screens and staying high to become the passer into AD or into Bron should add a nice addition for them. He did it for years with ZBo, and though Vogel has been a little bit meh with his sets Hollins did coach Gasol in Memphis and is very familiar with using him as the entry passer. If Hollins stays that is..

Edit: also Toronto fans seemingly wanted to keep him, so he was probably a bit better even last year than what I was remembering him to be as well.
