Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
I feel like the coach thing is only a big deal because it's Kyrie who said it. That said Kyrie saying it is what makes it a bit warranted as far as the "wait a minute" take aways from it. He has now built a track record for kind of going against coaching ideals and schemes that actually work and just frankly been more successful with out him in the fold. He butted heads with Lue when he wanted to make tempo changes, supposedly didn't like being in LeBron's shadow (which also he made the KD comments, and then LeBron made the jealous comments), Boston has now been ECF teams having better seasons twice without him but similar surrounding pieces, the Nets played better this year without him and were coach&exec of the year caliber front office structured and move on from that coach..
IDK, I don't think he and KD will have chemistry issues, and even if there is some on court chemistry/role clashing or overlapping it's something that like ehh mentioned probably won't matter come playoff time.
IDK what to expect from the Nets though. They should be plenty deep this year if they have a similar roster plus Kyrie and KD, that said I also completely understand trying to land a 3rd guy while they have the means to.. Rumors are Dinwiddie could be in trade talks, if all it takes contract wise to swing a star is pairing Harris with him I think it's something they would explore. That said having Harris, LeVert, Dinwiddie in addition to Kyrie and KD to me is a better top end core of talent than the Clippers had with Trez and Lou and everyone was talking that 4some up like they were far and away the best 4-6 man rotation in the league.
I say all that assuming KD is healthy and bounces back. I would expect absolute worst case scenario he's still a top 10 player and elite scorer, best case scenario he's right up there fighting for the number 1 spot with guys like Giannis, Bron, AD.Last edited by ojandpizza; 10-14-2020, 01:47 PM.Comment

He's also well aware he will be the most coveted FA out there so he will explore all options regardless. Too much money and legacy on the line not to at least look when it comes time.Comment

Legacy is overrated and there’s too much money on the table to leave IMO.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

2020 Offseason Thread
Not that I think it’ll change your mind or thought process on him in particular but mainly for context, especially since the entire convo about that subject made some sense and wasn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of the interview.
I imagine if it had been Spence or Joe or LeVert that made the comment, it wouldn’t have gotten the attention it received.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 10-14-2020, 03:28 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
Why do we assume Giannis wants a bigger market?
Whenever I hear these rumors, I always assume it’s fans/media projecting what THEY want onto a player, even though the player hasn’t given us any indication they want to leave.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
I also don't think they really lack "shooters" they were tied for 8th in percentage but they just don't really take all that many, and Ben not taking them at all really shifts that too. But Korkmaz, Burks, Milton all shot 40% or better, and Harris, Horford, Thybulle, Scott all 35% or better, and the next tier down Robinson, Embiid, Richardson, all about 33-34%.. That's pretty solid as a team.
I do think they are missing that deadeye guy because their guys can be streaky, but I don't know if Korkmaz can't be more of that type of guy, but what they are REALLY missing is a guy who can move and get himself open instead of playing off Ben, someone like say JJ Redick that they didn't keep.Comment

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
Heatles did it, Spurs regularly did it. Dino talking about doing it. AD forced a trade out instead of staying for a supermax. Those are just off the top of my head. Rondo said he got offered more recently.
Turning down supermax is a different story but I guess I wouldn't be shocked to see Giannis do it

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
They really need a shooter who's a guard though. Would be a bit redundant to have Simmons, Harris, Gallo, Korkmaz, Scott, Burks, and even Richardson all getting some time at the 3, and Harris, Gallo, Scott, Horford, Simmons getting time at the 4.

Like you said I think the supermax has changed the math on this but you’re not wrong, it could go either way. It’s especially interesting if the pandemic affects the salary cap in a way that the supermax offer goes down, but I’m not betting against a guy taking 5/250 until I’ve seen it.

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
Would love to see Sixers find a way to get rid of Horford. He is better suited for the backup Center role for this team. I don't want to pay max money for a backup. I would even mind trading for another bad contract if that player fits the roster better. I wouldn't mind having to trade someone like Josh Richardson and Shake Milton along with Horford to get a better fit. I know Sixers might be in the luxury tax, so wouldn't mind trading away picks. Sixers haven't been good recently in drafting and developing young talent(I like Thybulle though). So I rather get a young proven player or veteran specialist.
The need a Secondary Playmaker, consistent 40+% 3pt shooter, and a shot creator. You can knock down 2 of those with a guy like Spencer Dinwiddie. I agree they have streaky shooters. They need a guy that night in and night out will give them 40% from 3 and that plays good off the ball. I wouldn't mind going after Hield.Comment
