Re: 2020 Offseason T
I think all 3 are intriguing. Boogie because the Lakers don’t necessarily NEED a 3rd center, it’s insurance more then anything and Boogie is easily the highest ceiling of the group. If he has one playoff game where he comes in and has a big game that could decide a series.
I like Gasol simply for his passing. He’s a gifted passer, big body. I know it’s rare you need someone to “bang inside” in today’s league but he would be ideal for the few times that you might. His big body would be best suited for those high ball screens, and he’s improved his shot enough that he’s a great option to stay high and make entry passes to AD.
Dedmon is probably the safest “best fit”. Boogie might not pan out, might try to do too much, etc.. There are times Gasol is just a bit of a liability at this stage, he would need to have a rejuvenation type of year like Dwight did. I like Dedmon’s mobility, he’s added that 3 point shot, he’s long, he blocks shots, he’s basically the perfect rotation to pair with McGee because he provides similar defensive strengths.
Absolute best option to me is Baynes, but obviously price wise that isn’t happening.

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
So were the Lakers actually interested in a sign and trade for Bogs or was that just a rumor since he was in trade rumors with them at the trade deadline last year? Was there ever a legit source that claimed that. I can’t imagine they would trade KCP and Mcgee to get him. Hard to know how much of an upgrade it would even be.

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
Clippers getting Ibaka and Lakers getting Harrell is a win for the Clippers honestly.

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread
Makes you wonder if the Lakers could've gotten Ibaka since they could've paid him the same, why didn't they? Klutch loyalty?Comment

Re: 2020 Offseason T
I've wanted him on the squad for a couple of years now, but I don't think that there is enough money left to get him though.
IMO, a third center is definitely needed, because I feel like McGee may fall of a cliff this year. He definitely always wears down by season's end even though he doesn't play heavy minutes.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

I was more so assuming Ibaka had built a relationship with Kawhi when he was in Toronto and picked them from the jump.

Yeah the clippers saved their offseason just like that. Ibaka is a huge upgrade over Harrell.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

True.
Oh well, good upgrade for them but as of now, Lakers are still better.

Idk about huge. Just as people were saying not to overrate the guys that were hot in the bubble, I don't think the guys that were more trash should be judged just on their bubble performance either. Harrell won 6th man of the year, he ain't no slouch.

On Dedmon - if he’s waived he could likely be had for the min.
On the 3rd center - I just meant that McGee, Harrell, Davis, Cacok, is enough of a center rotation already on the team to take the gamble on Boogie for now. If he doesn’t work out they get cut ties and repeat with bringing someone else in or from the buyout market the same way they did with Dwight. On that note, Dwight signing elsewhere for the minimum hurt them quite a bit.
Aside from Dedmon I wouldn’t mind the Lakers looking Giles or WCS.. I really thought they would go Noel. Seems like he was paid more than they could offer, but I thought he would have been headed there for the last 2 seasons now and it didn’t happen. He’s the best case defensive addition they could add, he just offers virtually nothing else.
Regardless I feel like adding another point guard is priority 1 right now.. I thought the best case off-season for the Lakers would have been bringing everyone back, adding a player with their MLE, exploring trades for KCP/Kuz, and adding Teague or Augustine.
Now that they are both gone I’m not really sure where the Lakers go for adding another guard to the team. Best case scenario would be Wall causing enough of a scene to eventually reach a buyout agreement, same for someone like Bledsoe.. aside from that, retry with Darren Collison, or hope maybe nobody else wants Reggie Jackson. Idk who else is even available.
