If getting the most money matters to Blake right now, the most each team can offer:

Lakers: veteran minimum worth $810k today

Clippers: Bi-Annual exception worth $3.4M today IF they reduce salary via trade first

      Nets: $5.7M DPE

      Heat: $4.7M DPE

      Warriors: $9.3M DPE
Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

This would be assuming other teams don't show interest as Boston, for example, has a 28mil trade exception from the Hayward move. They could offer 10 of that just to be the high bidder if they wanted.

I would say from that group the Heat would maybe be the best fit. They can offer him the best mix of title chances, money, and role as out of all those teams listed they would probably utilize him the most. Nets are the best chance of title+decent money, obviously if he wants to get paid Golden State.

The Pistons must absolutely lead the league in amount of money paid to guys to not play for them over the past decade or so. Charlie Villanueva, Josh Smith, Drummond (to some extent), Blake Griffin...

At some point, I think it's fair to wonder whether the front office might not know what it's doing in Motown

Hard pass but of course he’ll get linked to the Nets just because.

                Re: 2020-21 Transaction Thread

Blake played really well for the Pistons (when he wasn't injured, which was almost always). I was surprised, actually, how valuable he was for the 'Stones and how professional he was about coming to an NBA backwater like Detroit (these days, anyway....wasn't always like this). In other words, in the right scenario, I definitely think he can be a valuable contributor, albeit not in the same way he used to be in his prime. He reminds a bit of a late-career/post-injury Antonio McDyess, who was hugely valuable for the Pistons but had a distinctively different game than he did when he was in his youth. And he should have won a title with the Pistons in 2005 but that's a whole different rant....

Signing Blake Griffin was always a stupid signing for a stupid amount of money for zero expected impact, and everyone that knows anything about basketball knew it at the time. It's just unfortunate for Pistons' fans (all 10 of them) that one of the few people on earth that DIDN'T know that was Tom Gores.

Gores is the worst owner in Pistons' history. Each passing day is a new opportunity to prove that.

Free agent forward Blake Griffin has agreed to a deal with the Brooklyn Nets for the rest of the season, his agent Sam Goldfeder of @excelbasketball tells ESPN.

I’m surprised it’s for the min figured they would use one of their exceptions.

It obviously wasn't necessary since it seems like he was all in for going there.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

So the Nets can still outbid anyone else on the buyout market too? Like they could still get Drummond if he gets bought out?

****ing ridiculous man. Too bad King and 23 aren't active anymore, cause they would surely complain about all the help KD needs...oh wait that's only reserved for LeBron, my bad...

I know Pack didn’t sound too thrilled about it but I would love this signing as a Nets fan. I don’t think Blake is washed and he’s exactly the type of pick up I would want given that his skill set translates so well to making things better/easier for Harden in particular.

I think they have to be title favorites by a decent margin if they get anything out of Blake. Still can make another move in the buyout market, still have people making offers for Dinwiddie who they might not be hesitant to trade if they don’t believe they are keeping him after this year anyways.

He is washed and has looked washed. It’s ok to say that, I promise he won’t be bothered by folks saying that about him.

                            Low risk/low reward move.

Seems like Lowry could be traded soon. Will suck seeing him leave if it happens, but hopefully Raptors get a good return.
