I’ll be surprised if he’s not on the roster by the season because that would mean his value has really fallen off.
This coming season it is 17.9m, the extension kicks in after that and is estimated to be 21.4m, 23.2m, 24.9m, 26.6m

What’s wild is I feel like we’re 5-10 years away from $23 Mil/per year being average salary for a starting Guard.

That's spotrac's estimate. I always check them because they seem to be the most accurate with player/team salaries. But his last contract was front loaded rather than back loaded, so it paid 19.8, 18.9, 17.9, so unless they already know this 2nd contract is back loaded it could theoretically be reversed like his last deal. Either way the amounts should be roughly correct regardless unless any portion of that is dependent on All-Star appearances, playoff berths, etc.

They already know because it was the max he can sign for. Can only be organized one way as a result. 120% raise from the prior year or something like that and then like an 8% raise every year after that

I gotcha. I knew it could only be the 120% just didn’t realize it had to be backloaded like that. Makes sense

he's either going to easily outproduce that contract or doesn't come close because he couldn't stay healthy. i like betting on the former. great deal.

So Portland gave up a first with lottery protection and Jones Jr for Nance, seems like an overpay but I'm not completely familiar with Nance either, for those that are how is his defense?
