My wife is a therapist. She thinks there are a few questions she has for this women. She's dealt with several weird issues similar to this. It's not that she doesn't believe her. She kind of confused what kind of career she has after this. You just exposed a huge client. You probably should have got him some sort of help if this was a behavior you saw. A lot of questions to have to answered for this one on both sides.

Like even when Kyrie was there by himself, I don’t remember y’all looking like this.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Pack we’ve been a dumpster fire since Jordan retired for the second time, we finally get things together and the league loses its mind
For real though we’ve had Koby Atlman looking like the best exec in all sports for the last couple years. We haven’t had harmony between the front office and the talent on court for my whole life if feels and we now have some serious talent at both levels
The team culture, the whole junkyard dogs thing with the huge *** Cavs chain they give out after each win to whoever made the biggest impact, it’s just brought so much positivity around the team that even when we were in the finals every year I’ve never seen

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Wonder if Ime is starting to think he is better off suspended rather than inheriting this mess
Apparently that documentary contains elements that are viewed as antisemitic, but oddly enough lost in all this is how it is antisemitic. From what I can tell, the documentary is based on one of those black alternate history things. Like radical black conspiracy theories I think?
When asked about that in two (?) press conferences he has deflected. When asked outright whether he is antisemitic he has deflected.
I don't know about this. I also wonder if the NBAPA will object, but look I don't want to get into this too much but there are some things which people have zero chill with. Antisemitism is one of them, maybe the largest one. And many times it seems like if you say anything other than something glowingly positive its viewed as antisemitic. I don't always like it, last I'll comment on that aspect.
Kyrie brought this on himself for being stupid or shortsighted. Literally the week before you saw what happened to Kanye so why share that?
BUT, I don't like this move by the Nets. If he doesn't align with the organization or you feel he doesn't represent you, remove him from the team? Its kind of ridiculous to me that he is suspended because he didn't say "Sorry" when we all know it wouldn't be a genuine apology anyway.
Has there been another similar incident where a player was suspended or otherwise punished because the apology wasn't explicit enough?Comment

Its weird or silly. Kyrie shared a link to a documentary on his social media. As far as I know he provided no caption.

“Kyrie refuses to unequivocally say he has no antisemitic beliefs”.
Ok. But is that a contractual requirement for him to play ball?
Whoever worded that statement opened the team up for an easy lawsuit.
This season is an absolute mess.Last edited by bigeastbumrush; 11-03-2022, 10:14 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Nets had no choice but to suspend Kyrie. He forced their hand after being given numerous chances to apologize. Whether that apology was genuine or not is irrelevant. Professional sports is big business. You as an athlete represent the team. The game is the game.
Think you can kiss an immediate hiring of Udaka goodbye. Way too much heat on the organization at the moment.

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Thanks for the summary I had heard some of what happened so that helped.
Suspending someone for their personal beliefs/ opinions is something I don’t think I’ve ever heard of. If I’m understanding this correctlyRetro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
I feel like players from other teams are going to get asked questions about it and I’m not sure if I feel about it.
And I say that because I feel like it’s going to be slippery slope and players are going to feel like the Media is trying to catch players slipping based on their responses/non-responses.
I’ve been a dummy and following these on Twitter all day and to no surprise, it went exactly how one would expect it: Just ugly all around, with plenty of people telling on themselves.
I’ll say this though: IF(a big if because I don’t see it getting there)they were to try and suspend him for the rest of the year but allow Miles Bridges to come back and play this year…yikes, yikes, yikes.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Its not that he got suspended for beliefs or opinions. Thats not unheard of.
Its that his apology wasn't strong or explicit enough:
Kyrie Irving stopped short of formally apologizing Thursday for his controversial social media post about a book and movie that feature antisemitic tropes -- an apology many in the Nets' organization and the NBA league office were hoping to hear.
In typical Kyrie fashion when asked about having antisemitic beliefs he didn't give a simple answer. He was like "how could I with where I come from?"Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
The NBA, on the other hand, always seems to have something going on. There is serious drama like Miles Bridges and now Josh Primo and Kyrie stuff. But there is crazy funny intrigue like the DeAndre Jordan and Mavs situation years ago. I remember the world roasting "Wayoff P" and Clippers. The Raptors just melting under LeBron and the Cavs. The Zion fat jokes. I laugh and genuinely have fun with the NBA product. Whether its memes on Twitter, or the Inside the NBA crew, theres always something. It makes watching the games even more fun for me.
My best boy is a huge Westbrook fan. I put my phone on speaker sometimes and my wife and I just laugh at him almost every day ranting about how the Lakers and LeBron are scapegoating him. It's just always something and more often than not it's at least interesting and entertaining. On top of that, the actual NBA on court product is a good as it has ever been.

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
That statement that Primo's lawyer put out was complete garbage and unnecessary. No need whatsoever to take it there. The dude deserves his day in court and will get to tell his story but that was bull taking it there.
Honestly man, I dont care what happens to Kyrie. The Nets have to be at their wits end dealing with him at this point. He's a nonstop distraction and PR nightmare. The Nets already have the worst attendance in the league in freaking New York. Who knows what the sponsors are saying behind the scenes. If they just want him to go away because he is bad for business I totally understand. It's not like they're winning anyway, so why bother with the headache any longer.
