    Re: 2024 Offseason Thread

I don't think the Paul George situation drags out tomorrow. This will be a game of chicken. Paul George obviously wants the 4th year and Clips don't want to budge. For PG, it doesn't matter if Kawhi took a paycut or that LeBron might be willing to take a paycut. I don't blame him for wanting to secure the last big bag he can get. So, if Clips aren't budging off of 3 years, it'll be hard to pass up a guaranteed extra $60M. You only pass on that if he feels he can still play at an elite level at age 37.

        Bulls re-signing Patrick Williams,

        5 years, $90 million

Works out pretty well for the Bulls I think. They offered $16 mil a year last year during extension talks, P-Will was looking for more along the lines of $22 mil. So getting him back in the fold on $18 mil is a win. DeMar seems all but gone so him black holing the ball and allowing Pat to play at his natural position at the 3 should help him move along with his development… I hope

Hopefully JB can install a defensive game plan that works and their FO brings in some veterans to finally move this team forward. They'll probably strike out (a lot), but they need to take some big swings in free agency to add some worthwhile pieces.

Isn't Giddey likely to start at SF? I like Williams, but he's never consistently shown the on-ball skills to warrant moving him from PF/an off-ball role.

You're a fan of the Bulls, so you probably have better insight.

Right now, if they do move off DeMar & Zach I see the Bulls starting lineup as:

            PG: White
            SG: Ball (heavy minutes restriction)
            SF: Giddey
            PF: Williams
            C: Vucevic

They'll be seriously lacking in offensive production, so Williams could still conceivably get more opportunities without changing positions. I know Giddey is a swingman, but I think his best position is still SF.

It's really hard to project currently without knowing who will actually be on the roster in the next few weeks, especially since the talk the last couple days have been that they want to move Vooch too and Drummand is likely gone which leaves them with 0 centers. I don't count Ball into any projections until I actually see him on the court and playing at this point.

Williams just is not comfortable at that 4 spot. But you never know with Billy he may just continue running him out there cause they want to continue starting him. I could see them also putting Giddey at the 2, Pat at the 3 and Phillips at 4 if he takes a jump in his second year. Seems like they may be embracing a full youth movement at the moment.

Paul George wanted to join the Warriors, but the Clippers were not interested in sending him there, per
                @timkawakami

“The Warriors had agreed to give George a max, four-year extension upon arrival. They believed they had proposed several variations of a trade that the Clippers could and would accept. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were 100 percent on board. George gave strong indications he wanted to join the Warriors. But the Clippers never agreed to any version of a trade, and now George is a free agent and essentially beyond the Warriors’ reach.”

Clippers letting not wanting him to play in GS get in the way of taking a trade that could actually be better for their team?

Saying that assuming Wiggins returns to something close to what he was a couple years ago and not the dog **** he was last season.

So no PG trade and Klay bouncing? Damn.

I get Clips standing their ground on the 4th year(hell, I'm not comfortable giving him the full max as a Sixers fan), but it is wild to be petty about not helping the Warriors when you can help out your team. Wiggins, Kuminga, pick, and filler is better than to let him walk for nothing. A Kawhi-Harden led team isn't doing nothing, especially in the west

Chris Haynes says there’s “growing optimism” Philly will land Paul George.

Whatever the hell that means lol
