    Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***

So when Rip returns how does the lineup look? Ive heard rumors that Hamilton comes off the bench much like Manu does in San Antonio while keeping Stuckey and Iverson in the lineup, plausible I suppose but would rather not go this route. Ive heard a rumor of Iverson coming off the bench, this seems like a recipe for disaster so I dont want to see this either. I guess the best option is for Stuckey to provide the offensive spark off the bench until next year when he runs the point and we rid ourselves of Iverson and his fat contract (or atleast I hope).

I'm still in the camp to have Stuckey start at PG spot no matter what, then decide between Rip and AI on which player starts at SG and which one becomes the sixth man.

Correction: They have lost to the Bobcats.

I'm disgusted at the fact that MC is so bent on using the small lineup when it hasn't been nearly as productive as the conventional lineups. And then to stick with the small lineup during the closing minutes of the 4th quarter while the Pistons struggled mightily offensively. Just awful. The Pistons coud've pounded this Bobcats team on the offensive glass with another big man on the floor. Absolutely terrible decision to keep the small lineup on the floor during crunch time.

They went 6-2 with Rip missing and lost last night. Curry copped out and didn't bring Rip off the bench. He could have said he wanted Rip off the bench to ease him in after missing time with the injury. He had an easy out and blew it.

The bench scored 6 points total. Why put all your firepower on the floor at the same time and fight to give them touches while your bench doesnt' bring in any offense? Small ball didn't work before when they tried it. Heck, if Rip came off the bench his minutes wouldn't fall much and he might actually get more shots as he could be the offensive focal point as some starters rest.

Edit: Curry said he's sticking with small ball the next two games because all of those opponents had a hard time dealing with it. Afterwards he does plan on bringing Rip or AI off the bench.

"Curry said he's comfortable with the starting five -- especially against the Bobcats, Pacers and Thunder this week, all of who struggled against the Pistons' small lineup.
Still, Curry said either Hamilton or Iverson will be substituted early in most games when the Pistons use a bigger lineup.
"We want our best players on the court as much as possible," Curry said. "But for 32 minutes (of a game's 48 minutes) we need to be big. A lot of nights Allen or Rip will be subbed kind of early, but they'll come back at the start of the second quarter with (Will ) Bynum or Stuckey."
Curry wants to reduce Prince's minutes at the big forward spot, and incorporate Bynum into the lineup to limit Stuckey's minutes at point guard.
Both Hamilton and Iverson have been hesitant about being moving to the bench.
"I don't expect those guys to want to come off the bench, but if we're at the point we need to do that, we will," Curry said.
Said Iverson: "You always are supposed to do what the coach asks you to do. I'm not trying to be a distraction. Obviously it would be difficult for me. That's something I've never faced in my career, back to when I was a little kid. That's something I've never been through in my life."

Boy oh boy... MC has his work cut out for him now because the team played lazy and uninspired basketball against the Thunder for majority of the second half. Not to mentioned getting manhandled on the boards once again. Can anyone explain to me why Maxey or Kwame Brown hasn't been getting any playing time considering all the energy and rebounding issues this team has been having? I just don't get what the coaching staff is trying to accomplish sometimes with these questionable player rotations.

Now the Pistons will have to face a pissed off Hornets team tomorrow night. It might get ugly at The Palace if they don't play with an increased sense of urgency.

Curry doesn't have the faintest clue what he's doing.

                    Nice hire, Joe!

Pretty much. The small ball lineup has done nothing for them, but he insists on playing them all kinds of minutes. Even worse is that he plays small ball off of the bench as well. Whether its Amir, Maxiell or Kwame they play much better with a conventional lineup.

Well, the decision has finally been made. MC has officially announced today that AI will start and Rip will come off the bench as sixth man. Either Amir or Kwame will start as the other big man alongside Sheed depending on matchups.

Rip to come off the bench

Good Decision by MC. Rip can be like Vinnie Johnson back in the day and give instant offense off the bench.
