Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
Do the Pistons have any 1st round draft picks they got from other teams? I hope they can sign some big-name rookie this time because this team is heading rebuilt, in my opinion. I'm really disappointed with Prince - I thought this guy would become a franchise player or at least a leader at some point in his career, but he just doesn't have the mentality/skills, and he's not the defensive player he used to be 3-4 years ago. I still like him and want to keep him on this team but we need more from him.My Specs:

Melo is a 6'8" Iverson, in my opinion. I think the Pistons need someone like Andre Miller to run the offense. If Miller was in the Detroit, I'm sure they'd have 10-12 more wins by now.My Specs:

I thought everyone knew this would be a "rebuilding" year after another embarrassment int he playoffs last year. You had to know with or without Billups, the days of being the automatic 1-2 was over and that team was just not going to get it done in the playoffs anymore.
I'm with Psyblast on this, the best thing for the Pistons to do would be to bottom out and get a lottery pick. AI was a money moce, and a good one, so with him and Sheed coming off the books, they'll have enough cash to bring in good pieces around the new core of Stuckey, Rip and Tay. Just don't let one of those pieces be a Boozer.
I also have to say, I have been thoroughly disappointed with Curry.PS: You guys are great.

Allen Iverson to Miss Two Weeks with Sore Back
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Pistons announced today that guard Allen Iverson will miss the next two weeks due to a sore back at the request of doctors at Georgetown University. Iverson’s condition was evaluated at Georgetown today and it was recommended that he suspend basketball related activities for two weeks. He will not travel with the team to prevent stress on his back and will be re-evaluated again by the doctors at Georgetown following the conclusion of the two-week period. The doctors at Georgetown University have been in contact with the Pistons’ medical staff and Iverson will begin treatment for his sore back upon his return to Detroit on Thursday.NBAComment

Iverson will do 'whatever it takes'

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Allen Iverson says he will come off the bench if that's what's best for the Detroit Pistons.
Iverson
Iverson attended the team's practice on Thursday after visiting doctors at Georgetown University in Washington. He said in a statement that he's disappointed the soreness in his back will force him to miss two weeks, but doctors told him treatment and rest are best.
Iverson said his goal hasn't changed since arriving: to help the Pistons win a championship. He says he'll do "whatever it takes" -- "regardless if I'm starting or coming off the bench."
Iverson has missed three straight games. Detroit is six games under .500 with Iverson starting, which coach Michael Curry says Iverson won't do when his back is healthy enough for him to play.

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
Man, it's been a tough season to go through. It's obvious to see that this Pistons team has been in transition all season long due to roster lineup tweaks and changes in offensive and defensive strategies, and more changes are sure to come in the offseason. But what made things bad is the way this team gave away so many games early on that should've been easy wins. Now the club is paying the price for it with a .500 record since suffering the 8-game losing streak a few weeks ago. At least Will Bynum has been playing well since given the opportunity to play while AI has been out, and Arron Affalo has been showing flashes of offensive skills. I'm still very disappointed in Amir though. He hasn't stepped up his play at all. The Pistons may have to consider spending the 2010 first-round pick on a young frontline player to replace him.

Iverson said no matter what positive things he does, people always will look for the negative with him.
"If you can come up with a negative story about Allen Iverson, then everyone will want to listen," he said. "They don't want to hear nothing positive about me.
"Back in the day, that probably would have bothered me. But I understood where it was coming from."

So Pistons fans, if you'll excuse my pessimism and assume the season is over (don't worry, it will be very soon regardless)...I'm currently working on a piece for my blog, summarizing my thoughts of the last eight years, since it's apparent (to me anyway) that this era of Pistons basketball is ending, and I thought I'd see what other people had to say.
Other than the obvious (the championship win), what's been your favorite moment from the last eight seasons?Comment

This was my favorite moment.

I said at the time it was one of those plays that could have turned the series around. Didn't happen, of course, but, aside from wiping the floor with the Lakers, it's the moment that stands out for me.
The Pacers rivalry at its height was the best thing this town had seen since the Wings/Avs rivalry; that also comes to mind.
And, in hindsight, this era ended when Ben left.
