Yeah, but even if the Knicks upgrade their talent, how far are they going with a coach who doesn't even TEACH defense?

Well he's been to the conference finals in a loaded west. That is pretty far. Just because he didn't win a championship yet doesn't mean he can't or won't.

And the man is pretty well respected throughout the league. Outside of getting Phil Jackson, I don't know who we could bring in who would do a better job of attracting talent for next year.

Gallo with a huge game. 31 points. Had the banked in shot to go ahead, then he plays defense on Pierce forcing a turnover, and denies Ray Allen the ball, keeping them from getting a shot off.

That's more rebounds than Eddy Curry's had the past two years.

A Memphis player who Cal buried his time here. He was on the Heat when they won their title.

So there is no way the Knicks can keep Lee, right? He's been the only bright spot this decade.

It's always possible. But I don't see it happening, not if Walsh wants flexibility for next offseason (Melo perhaps?). And there'll be teams throwing all kinds of cash at him, I see him being overpayed.

I think that since the cap might be alittle higher than expected for next season, the Knicks probably have some extra space to throw around. So, personally, I hope that instead of trying to reel in just 2 max contracts guys. They reel in LeBron, a "second tier" guy, and resign David Lee. Personally, I think this provides the Knicks with a better team, since I think Lee is even more valuable to the Knicks than LeBron would be, if the Knicks are to sign him, since Lee provides a ton of rebounds and alot of points and is just a great all-around player who is tremendously underrated and under appreciated.

I wouldn't call David Lee 'great' - that's too much. Fans say that because he's the lone bright spot on a crap team. Can he learn how to play defense first?

Is Lee a Knick next season? I doubt it, because Walsh is not giving him max money, but some foolish GM will overpay.

And you younger Knick fans need to get real about LeBron James, otherwise you'll get your hearts broken. I've seen it too many times - these top FAs always talk NY to jack up their asking price. It's gone on for decades.

It's rare to see nowadays that somebody genuinely still thinks that LeBron is coming to NY. I dealt with that realization at the end of last year, it's just not happening.
