Say what you will about his ethics and his overall business plan i.e. bloodsucking fighters dry, But he was a master at putting great under cards together and I got to a point when buying his fights I didn't consider the under card because I knew they were good and recognizable. Ladies and gentlemen I present you Don King, never thought I'd miss him in the fight game.

I had a choice between seeing Mayweather/Mosley live or UFC 114 live in Vegas at the end of the month. I chose UFC 114. Based on the cost of tickets , the number of fights and the undercard...I think I made the right choice.
Yes, the undercard was crap. Both Golden Boy and Top Rank put on horrible undercards to major PPV shows.

Somebody could offer me a ride to a UFC event in a limo, complete with a full wet bar and front-row seats, and I'd pass it along to someone else. I don't care for UFC.

Absolutely. King ripped off his fighters blind, but he provided complete, exciting PPV cards for the fans.

Thinking out loud: Do you think Floyd Mayweather Jr. remains the cash cow of boxing pay per view if he loses, if his invulnerability is shattered?

Let's face it: The casual boxing fan does not appreciate Floyd's artistry. They want to see attacking action, blood, bruised faces, ferocious exchanges every round. They want to see Castillo-Corrales I; they want to see the 12th round of Froch-Kessler last weekend.

Yet Floyd continues to generate more PPV buys than any other fighter. Honestly, I think most of his appeal with casual fans is his undefeated record. Casual fans don't buy the PPV to see how Floyd will fight; they buy it to see if he will lose.

If he loses, will his next fight be a monster draw if it's not a rematch against the guy who beats him? I'm not so sure, because only hardcore boxing fans like me and others in this forum appreciate the guy's style and skill.

Seriously, though: I know most casual fans would have preferred an all-action fight. There's a reason why the Ward-Gatti trilogy is held in such high regard by fans even though technically it wasn't even in the same area code as the master class Floyd displayed last night.

Watching Floyd is like watching a pitcher's duel or a dude who hits only 275 yards off the tee but one-putts on nearly every green. It's subtle, elegant mastery of the craft. A velvet-covered scalpel, not a sledgehammer.
That was one of the most ignorant, dumb *** posts Ive ever seen here at OS and to think it comes from someone who has been here for as long as you have is shocking. Maybe next time, before you open your mouth and insert your foot, you could do some research so you actually know what the hell it is your talking about before you run your mouth again and make yourself look like a fool all over again. Tito beating the crap out of Jenna? Lets not mention that they both said it was blown out of proportion and nothing really happened. Finishing in a 69 because thats what ground maneuvers look like? How you can make comments in an obvious attempt to bait someone into an argument with absolutely zero repercussions is beyond me.

Ooooooh: Looks like my attempts at sarcastic humor -- did you notice the smiley face in the original post and the segue of "Seriously, though:" ? -- touched a nerve. I'm flooding my keyboard with crocodile tears.

Seriously, though: Lay off the Xenergy and lighten up.

Like I said before the fight wasn't worth $65. I'm a boxing fan. To me it looked like shane took a dive and took a nice retirement check with him. To me Mosley didn't come to fight.

Sure thing buddy, throwing a stupid *** smiling face on the end of your insults somehow covers up for the crap you said prior to it. I guess thats your way around getting in trouble, just throw a smiley face up there and claim you were joking. I dont take Xenergy and if I came in here throwing insults towards boxing and the athletes who do it Im pretty sure you would take offense as well so save the condescending remarks.

Did you see the Pacquiao-Clottey fight? Clottey was a guy who didn't come to fight. He stood with his gloves over his face the entire night.

At least Shane tried. He just had no answer for Floyd's speed, defense and counterpunching after the second round.

No, I would have seen the smiley face and "Seriously, though" and realized the sarcasm.

Seriously, I would have. I may have posted a snide remark in return, a sarcastic snipe. Definitely wouldn't have flipped out as if somebody stole the last bottle of baby formula from the orphanage.

If you were a regular poster or reader in the Boxing forum at OS, you'd realize that I'm not a fan of MMA even though I respect the athleticism and courage of its competitors. I've stated both of those opinions numerous times.

And even if I didn't put the smiley face or "Seriously, though" to indicate sarcasm, I don't consider an counterattack from you or anyone else to be getting into any kind of "trouble." If I can dish, I can take. It's the nature of Internet forums.

You may have the last pearl of wisdom. I'm done with you; back to talking about a more relevant topic -- boxing.

The fight to me was worth the $65. I love defensive fighters and Mayweather is up there with some of the greatest defensive fighters of all time.

As a lover of classic jazz from the 1950s and 60s and boxing, I DIG that line, man. I might use it as a new signature, if you don't mind!

IDK man comparing it to JAZZ IDK. I really appreciate great music. Jazz is one of my favorite genres and I'm not talking about smooth jazz. I'm talking about Chick Correa, Michael Camilo, Michael Brecker, Anthony jackson, Arturo Sandoval etc, which has great substance. This fight on the other hand was not that great, not even good. Mosley seemed like he didn't want to fight. Not throwing any punches at all after the second round. How is that a great fight? Only landing 92 punches in 12 rounds from Mosley? IDK I guess that's what many consider great fights, but I don't. IMO this fight seemed rigged. Lets not destroy mayweathers perfect record so the paquiao fight can have more value.
