What can be done to change it other than new mocap. I think its the only option.

A few things:

Return the back lunge to pre-patch effectiveness.

Slightly increase backwards movement. Currently if someone is pushing forward and throwing a 3 strike combo, he will be able to land all 3 strikes even if im doing nothing but moving backwards.

Maybe give strikes against an opponent who is using advancing strikes more stopping power. I havent completely thought this one through though.

The concern by a lot of people is that it will encourage running but I think thats BS. I'll never understand why people seem to find ultra aggressiveness OK but find someone who has a patient and maybe "boring" something that has to be prevented.

I found with the flick (small/short) lunges you have to commit to them.

If you make them miss with a flick lunge: you just barely get out of the way but still have space for a counter.

They have less vulnerability than advanced lunges (especially side to side), but appear and feel more risky because they cover so little distance imo.

I wouldn’t mind a slight boost to the distance covered by lunges (more in the case of flick lunges), just have the footwork stat mean more.

It would be interesting to test small lunges with fighter with high footwork stat vs low footwork stat. I might to that late today.

What about sideways movement.

I'm fine with making the sideways lunge more effective off the cage so that you can circle off the cage more effectively.

I would also like to see different animation than lunge it look weird to me.

It's impossible after these patches. IMO game was better at first place.

I didnt because it was useless. The new patch made it impossible to use the back lunge to create space. I'm dissapointed about what happened so I'm going to chill from playing online until movement is addressed in a way to make it possible to fight from the outside.

back lunging was the most effective way to punish sway spammers but now i cant even use it anymore

I only think it regressed this kind of gameplay (outside fighting). People seem happy with the other changes.

Dont get me wrong though. I'm upset about it. The game felt like it was going in a good direction with varied fighting styles but now its back to the way it was before. Inside fighting rules and there are alot of people who seem fine with that.
