Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread

Where are the slams out of sub attempts?? I mean I can't get them to do it for the life of me. I never get submitted. I have only been tapped once online, maybe once by the computer on a counter, and only a couple of times by other players head to head. I have no problem getting out of them but I WANT TO SLAM DAMNIT!! Lol but for real I played with only Rampage for a while and everytime I brute forced out he just pulled his arm away or pushed them off. So then I went with just using the stick and all he did was pull away or roll them over. I did it once with Chuck in the demo and haven't done it since.

I keep hearing people talk about slamming out of subs and I want to do the same. I have no problem getting out I want to punish people for even more for being foolish enough to try and sub me. So what am I missing??

lol, nice, yah, the CAF users are either pretty good or terrible, cus like you said, they know there strong points such as that kick so they will focus on that rather than there all around strength, but i'v met some that gives some woppins, cus they out strength you in everything almost and they over power majority of your moves, but in the end, skill tells it all.

I think it only happens when you are in the second stage of the sub. Like when they don't lock the armbar immediately, and you are standing with your arm between his legs.

well, it doesnt happen every time, it only happens once in awhile, cus i'v been there quite a few times and it didn't happen, but yah, thats a tricky issue lol

Yeah I figured that too. it thats maked sense seeing the postions that the guys are in but I took Rampage into practice mode and try it both ways from that second stage position and they same thing happend. He just pulled his arm away and he rolled him over once.

I mean I know it's in there. When you do a career with a guy that has wrestling when you get to level 2 or 3 it list all these sub counters to open guard as new learned tactics. So I mean if they list the sub moves individually those have to be the ones that the slam move is for. I just can't get them to do it. I got one more theory to try and see if that works. Back to practice mode with Rampage I go

Just to clarify, you have to button mash. I also think it is kind of a last resort thing. They have to be close to locking it in.

Cool. How do you fight with him? I love fighting with his style/strategy, but it seems his striking is so weak that a KO is hard to do. Ive lost in the third all three times ive fought with him online?

Ok. Then, how'd he get it that high? Dont you only have 30 ish fights in career mode before you retire? Btw, that wasnt his only strength, he was 90 in 1 or 2 other categories.

I try and do lots of kicks and mix them up between the head and lower body. Also he has 2 good "LB button" punches.

If you play on beginner you can beat the cpu badly in the sparring. So if you do that every time you spar, you can get lots of points. And if you dont get max reset and try again. I dont agree with it (i like fighters in the 85-92 range) but it can be done easy.

As for the above 100 thing. They max their stat to 100 and the bonus for your style boosts it. Like a boxer gets the 15% bonus in striking.

So what the game did is give you enough points so that you didnt have to max most of your sparring sessions to have a good fighter. But just like people drop online, people abuse the mistake of the game.

just fought a level 57 guy (I am 35) and I mounted him and he disconnected. Just pisses me off !!! I sent him a nice little message after wards like I normally do to quitters.

Is anybody able to reverse transitions with any type of regularity? I've done it like once. Do you pretty much have to guess in which direction he's trying to transition to and press the right stick in the opposite direction?

Yep, I'm pretty damn good at reversals (toot my own horn for a minute)... the easiest one by far is getting them when they pull their head up trying to go from close guard to open guard -- as soon as they pull their head back, flick the stick. It doesn't seem to matter which direction, but I generally flick it towards them (left or right on the stick). It's important to note that it truly is a FLICK, very similar to the step strikes... gotta do it very quickly and precisely.

The other easy one to see/perform is when they have you in side control going to mount (it's a nice long animation with a fairly large 'window' to flick the stick) -- I seem to get reversals in those two scenarios almost all the time if I'm trying for one. The best way to use reversals to your advantage is to transition block like crazy to lull them into thinking that you're just gonna lay and pray for the ref to stand it up and then totally lay off blocking randomly to bait them into transitioning and then nail them with the reversal as soon as they do.

I beat several Level 60+ guys Wednesday night primarily by reversing them. They generally were picking highly-rated guys and I normally don't, so it was easy for them to take me down with shoot takedowns and just transition block to hold me there while they ground and pound. However, I would basically bait them into taking me down by trying to be aggressive standing up, let them do it, and then go for the immediate reversal when they try to raise their head following the takedown. Even experienced players try to improve their position fairly quickly, so these guys are probably most ripe for reversals... and since they're very good at keeping a dominant position, it's really your only hope of getting out of trouble unless they screw up and stop transition blocking at some point (the really good players don't).

When it comes to breaking submissions, is it better to match technique with technique and brute with brute, or just play to the strengths of your fighter?
