    Re: AEW Discussion Thread

Moxley did an interview with Wade Keller this week and confirmed what I suspected about talent going off script.

Producers and writers get all the heat and are frequently fired when that happens, so basically the talent has to live with that as a side effect of not saying exactly what they are supposed to.

Think of the guy who was disciplined harshly when Bret brought up Vince's name at the HoF. He basically quit because of it.

I thought we agreed to believe the guy who said that’s not what happened versus the dirt sheet writer who wrote it?

We did indeed. But let’s not let that distract from the narrative.

Well it's actually what Sean Waltman said happened at the time, but I can't remember what we agreed happened. Either way, Vince gets pissed at dumb ****, and blames the producers and writers.

AEW Double or Nothing's Buy Rate numbers are about to come in and it is good news for everyone. According to The Wrestling Observer, the PPV is estimated to have done 98,000 buys, including traditional cable/satellite and Internet/streaming distribution. The previous record for a non WWE/WCW PPV was ECW Heatwave 1999, while All In did 55,000 buys last year.

            - 66% of the purchases came from the US, while the UK was the second biggest market for the show with Australia, Germany and Canada rounding things out.

With the SA show coming up this week, I do wonder if AEW will try have their own exclusive show somewhere. With the UK being the second biggest buyers for DON, and the Khan's family ties over there with the Jags playing games and all, maybe AEW could sign a 5/10 year deal to run an exclusive show in the UK and do what WWE should have done in the first place.

What should WWE done in the first place?

Sign a deal with any the UK or any other country that wasn't SA.

                    Exactly.

UK is such a good market for wrestling. Remember when TNA went there and even they had such big shows.

As long as AEW doesn't stay in one city for all events, and don't go to the Little Rocks,Fresnos,Des Moines of the world, they'll be fine.

If we could have events in Canada,UK and other places, that'd help alot.

Having a Canadian show where Jericho/Omega can be advertised and maybe bring back Bret for obvious name value(maybe he could even be a "guest enforcer", without even doing anything he'd still be advertised there).

UK show on a Saturday night would be afternoon over here. AEW has no problem with Saturday ppvs which is a great thing. Could easily have a UK show where fans all around the world can watch it live.

They already run shows in the UK and have for decades, including exclusive PPV.

Sign a deal with countries they already run shows in? Why would either side offer that deal? This makes no sense whatsoever.

Why doesn't NXT count? Main roster bad, NXT good. Remember?

Also, it'd be nice if people could let AEW exist to put on ****ing awesome shows and not have to bring up every possible subject as some counter to WWE. Let AEW be AEW. Damn.

Thats not really comparable. WWE signed a deal with the Saudi Arabian government. There are very few governments that wouldve been willing to do a deal that size. In fact, most wouldnt have been interested.

WWE earned 75 mil from SA last year. The UK government isnt going to offer that to run 2 stadium shows. Most governments wont.

Thank you. It’s starting to get annoying even on being the elite.

Honestly, I don't believe any democratic government would sign a deal with WWE strictly because they'll have to explain to the tax payers where their money is going to. I'd be ###### as heck if that was where my taxes were going to support.
