Cool to see another guy with same name recognition and history deciding to leave WWE.

I mean Braun is the new Big Show so it's not like WWE is missing much of anything. For all the talk of being the alternative to WWE, they sure like to sign anyone WWE doesn't re-sign.

If Wight doesn't turn heel his first night on AEW TV, I'll be disappointed.

I'm sure they'll do a parody of it on BTE, at least.

Who is semi - retired and way, way, way past his prime?!

This isn't 1999 and Big Show ain't moving the needle for AEW.

I am shocked he "left" after just being recently on WWE programming and his failed show was pretty WWE - centric.

Strange signing that I'm not sure who it helps, TBH.

The show oscillates from being good, average or boring. Not the "revolution" I was hoping for but an okay alternative to WWE.

The "opening the 'forbidden' (imaginary) door" (a possible AEW/NJPW/Impact partnership) storyline has a lot of potential, but not sure how it'll positively benefit all three promotions.

Impact has been made out to look like a joke so far and Tony Khan is a complete cornball.

Still I like the Acclaimed, some of the other younger talent & I'm looking forward to the Omega/Moxley exploding barbwired deathmatch thing on Sunday.

It's not 1999, but enough people remember and have nostalgia for that era to the point that Big Show still holds some value even in an auxiliary role. I mean, Edge is in the main event at WM. There are lapsed fans who might watch.

Its not about wanting to see Big Show vs Archer or anything like that, but a guy who seemed like a WWE lifer decides to go to AEW and now seemingly helping them off screen is the big story here. I'm sure his role won't simply just be "commentator and occasional wrestler" and that's it. There definitely has to be more he brings that we won't see on TV.

It would be like seeing a guy in sports who spent 20 years with a team, staying with them by taking some ambassador role, only to turn around and wind up as an assistant coach on a team in that same division. It's not some major game changing thing, but it's a shock to see, and you know he will be able to help them.

Edge still has a lot more left in the tank than Big Show. We can agree to disagree, but I doubt that those lapsed fans will be clamoring for the indy, stunt car driver style of wrestling AEW provides.

Big Show has left the company before but never signed with anyone else. He's seemed disgruntled and upset about his role there on multiple occasions.

I remember reading or watching something a while back where he called 'Big Show' his "slave name" (laughable comparison that that is), so I'm more surprised he waited this long to finally leave, leave (if that makes sense).

And like Mercury said, they have Braun Strowman who essentially plays the "modern" version of Big Show.

It’s just a job. He’s a retired wrestler who took a job with a company who will overvalue him.

Good job Show. Make that money.

Honestly, WWE could say the same thing. Like they've brought in these former WWE superstars like a big deal and all but most of them are in the same spot they were in when they were signed by WWE.

Shawn Spears? I think he's more known for being the guy who gets to go home to Peyton Royce every night.

FTR? Sure they were creatively misused on WWE's main roster and injuries didn't help but it seems they are just where they were before.

Dustin Rhodes? I think it's awesome he can still go in the ring and his match with Cody at Double or Nothing proved their feud in WWE could have been way more. But again, outside of that where does he fit in?

Jake Hager? Nothing of value loss here at all.

Jon Moxley? Let's be real, we wouldn't have had the Tribal Chief or Monday Night Messiah at all because we would be in the 500th Shield Reunion by now. He's a great guy in the ring but WWE has many guys like him.

Matt Hardy? You can only take the Broken Universe stuff so far, but most certainly "Money Matt" has a manager like he is in AEW would have been the best role for him in WWE.

Miro? The dude left WWE where he was in a terrible wedding angle to go to AEW and right into another wedding angle. He walked right into the same situation he left lol.

The only real missed opportunities of former WWE guys that are in AEW are doing nothing with Cody beyond Stardust, PAC, and better using the Revival creatively. AEW until this current run as AEW Champion, took Kenny Omega from the "Best Bout Machine" to just another guy on the roster, the same fears most fans had about him going to WWE.

He lost everything that made him so good in New Japan and the failure by AEW to not showcase it and make Omega the face of the company from the start was bad. Britt Baker could become a overnight star and face of the Women's Division if she was in NXT right now. AEW needs to find something to get them over the top and in the same conversation as WWE, they need their own John Cena and right now they don't have it.

Yea, I’ve been expecting more from AEW but at this point I don’t know if it’s the poor booking to blame or the talent wasn’t that talented in the first place? Everyone is essentially in the same spot. Maybe a heel Paul Wight on commentary will add some value but even the commentary team seems overcrowded for no reason…
