He has things he "didn't like" likely going back to his ECW days for all we know. There will always be things workers won't agree about their job(s).

I don't want to derail the thread so I'll keep my thoughts about the current product to myself.

Sure, I don't mean to say that they thought WWE was absolutely perfect circa 2009 (or whenever), but personally I notice more and more their obvious affinity for/influence from the product of more recent years. Basically I want them to be like current NJPW and WWF/WCW mid 90s, but they are more like modern WWE.

I feel like they're more like a bigger modern day indy promotion than anything else, for good and bad reasons.

Obviously it kind of is, but AEW is basically like a TEW save where you gave PWG 1 billion dollars per year, but couldn't use the name PWG.

On that note, I just read up on what an exploding barbed wire deathmatch is.

I hope they go all out for that! That could be one of the coolest most brutal matches we've seen in ages.

I'd like them to be more like PWG. But instead we get gender reveal segments. Idk.

It's on PPV, so all bets are off on what will happen lol.

Little things like that I dont mind, it doesn't take away from the show or anything.

The part I could do without is every match being some 10+ minute match with wrestlers doing the same flips and high spots in every match.

You don't have as many people with defining characters or personalities.

Something small, but that's what made the Acclaimed stand out. Just something like rapping to the ring makes them stand out more than most of that tag division and has me more invested in them than someone like TH2.

This I can totally agree with, Maj. The Acclaimed are two of the most interesting people they've signed. That is partly because they have a good look, don't do all the "flippy ****" & have an actual gimmick (even if it is biting off Cena circa 2006).

Why the **** isn't Wardlow given an actual character and pushed away from MJF by now?

They have a bunch of impressive looking guys that could totally be monster heels (which the company needs) but they're all mid - card fodder.

Anyway, how was this week's show besides J.R.'s commentary botch? I watched NXT instead and it was just okay, TBH.

Yeah, I already don't care much for Brandi, but that was a low point for me. That said, putting PWG on National TV was always gonna produce filler, we just gotta upgrade the filler.

They're mainly focusing on getting things set up for the PPV in a few weeks.

The Hangman/Hardy stuff was interesting, although the first quarter of 2021 stipulation just means the fallout lasts 3 weeks after the match?

And the main event was a good one, the highlight being the exploding barbed wire deathmatch announcement for the PPV.

I'm sure it might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm just not interested in FTR, Young Bucks, Gallows/Anderson. All they bring to the table imo are the moves they do in matches, but then if that's all most people bring to the table, does it make anyone special or stand out?

As great as many technical wrestlers of the past were, if the entire roster was filled with those same guys, would they have stood out so much?

You can wrestle like Eddie Guerrero but have the personality of Steve Blackman, that won't make you great.

Yeah, I never followed the Bucks in the indies, ROH, TNA/Impact or NJPW, so their current AEW run has no frame of reference for me. I'm definitely not seeing what was the big deal with them or made them the "greatest tag team in the world."

Other than all the "flippy ****," overly choreographed spots/moves and super kicks (which doesn't appeal to me anyway), they are boring as hell.

I'd take the Usos, FTR or New Day over them any day of the week. The Good Brothers best run is likely past them but Anderson is still really, really good (should become Impact World champ, IMO).

The whole NJPW/Impact/AEW crossover needs an end game or it'll wind up growing stale and fading quickly.

I'm watching a replay and the only stinker so far was the Omega/pre - school book reading segment. I'm shocked Stinger is cleared to take any bumps, TBH. I'm just praying he doesn't push himself too far and something catastrophic happens. [emoji1488]

As arrogant and egotistical as Triple H & Stephanie were/are not even they needed to have "gender reveal" segments for their three daughters. SMDH

Brandi is super hot, so I never get tired of seeing here, TBH. If she returns to an on - screen role than they need to just realign her with Cody.

Still loving AEW, but not gonna lie, I really hate this Sting thing (here's Tony, talking to Sting LIVE, for like the 10th week in a row) and want it over.

I also have to think all this Cody Rhodes buildup with the gender reveal, the longest entrance in wrestling, the most pyro, his shady wins as TNT champ, all have to pay off with a major insufferable heel turn (which I feel is his character as is) because this cocky face crap is so exhausting. It was what made the Brodie Lee (RIP) squash so amazing, and I was pissed when he got the strap back in the dog collar match.

Agree about not being super keen on the Bucks, but it's made worse as the tag division is so stacked. As for the crossover stuff, I'm entertained, but if we don't get Kenny winning the Impact strap (The Collector), or Okada and/or Ibushi coming from NJPW it's more novelty than anything else. Or go all in and bring in AAA from Mexico, Ring of Honor, and beyond.

I mean gender reveals weren't a big thing back then like they've become the past decade.

And they did announce Steph gave birth on Raw. I think it was on those wwe.com special live videos during commercial breaks.

And of all current teams in WWE or AEW, I'd definitely have New Day and Usos as the top 2. Theres a reason the Usos became real popular once they turned heel. They were usually just the face painted "when we say UCE, y'all say O!" guys. But once they went heel, everything changed, and even as a face team they're more entertaining compared to before.

Roode,Ziggler have the feel of a team you'd see in AEW. Guys you know can do stuff in the ring, but they're boring otherwise (which is sad to say about Roode since I loved him in TNA)

As much as I thought the gender reveal was a bit much, I would pretty much guarantee it was Tony Khan's idea and Cody/Brandy did not suggest it. And it came from a good place, not an ego trip demanding people care about them.
