I was really hoping that it would work out for you in Cleveland. Tough luck. Good luck with the Bums.

Thanks. At least this time I trained right during my stint with the Tribe. I have increased probably the two most important of all attributes in order to cut down on the number of hits that I allow. There could be a method to this madness after all.

One never knows what might happen as we travel through the RTTS. I might even make the team and then get traded. Stranger things can happen in the world of baseball.

              On the road again.....

The Dodgers are heading towards the spring home of the Houston Astros as I take my third turn of the spring. I usually get around six starts per spring so this is the halfway point of spring training.

My outing starts off great as I go 1-2-3 in the first on only 6 pitches. The hitters must be anxious because the advanced scouting report probably says that I tend to throw a lot of strikes. Three innings later, I leave with us in front 1-0 as I shut out the Astros for four innings allowing only 4 hits during that time. The Dodgers ended up winning the game (score unknown) and I pick up my second win of the spring. I also got my first strike out of the spring by striking out the opposing pitcher, Roy Oswalt.

              Code:
                             1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
              LA Dodgers 1 0 0 0 x x x x x - Dodgers won
              Houston 0 0 0 0 x x x x x - Astros lost

(I forgot to copy the rest of the line score)

Just can't wait to get on the road again......

It's my turn once again to take the mound and this time we are at the Florida Marlins' spring training home.

I went five innings today and gave up five hits. Unfortunately, I also gave up a run and left with us down 1-0. The Marlins ended up beating us 2-1. I also went 0-for-2 at the plate, a ground out and a foul out, and am now batting 1-for-5 with a sacrifice bunt. Things are looking up for me as I continue to go through simulated games and bullpen sessions with the pitching coach to work on my mechanics.

                Code:
                               1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

Homeward bound. I wish I was homeward bound......
(taken from Simon & Garfunkel's "Homeward Bound")

The Dodgers last night took a flight and headed to Arizona as we are somehow scheduled to take on the Kansas City Royals. I had left the night before because tonight is my scheduled start.

This was probably my best effort of the spring as I allow just two hits over 5 innings, striking out 3, and I left with 7-1 lead. The Dodgers eventually won the game, 10-6, and I received my third win of the spring, bringing my record to 3-1.

                  Code:

                    4/3/11

Today is the last day of spring training and I am taking the mound in front of our crowd for a change. Today's opponent is the Boston Red Sox. Their lineup starts off with Jacoby Ellsbury, Hanley Ramirez, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, J.D. Drew and Brian McCann and ends with Mike Lowell in the #8 slot before the pitcher's spot.

I went 0-for-2, striking out once and popping out, and on the mound I gave up a solo home run to Brian McCann in the second inning. That was it, however, as I scattered 6 hits in the 5 innings, striking out 4 and we touched up Josh Beckett for two runs in the third and fifth innings as the Dodgers won, 5-1, to finish the spring on a strong note.

                    Code:
                                   1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

                      Judgement Day

I went to the locker room to clean my stuff out when the manager and the general manager came up to me and I thanked them for the opportunity to tryout with the Dodgers this year. The manager told me that I did a tremendous job and the GM was here to officially offer me a contract. The contract is for 1-year, $175,000 to pitch out of the bullpen for their double-AA affiliate in Jacksonville. Glad to see that my mechanics workouts came up with great results, I asked if they could add another year to the contract but for $340,000 total for the two years instead and they agreed. I quickly signed the contract and headed to the training site of the Jacksonville Suns. They don't know me but at least they know the person that I was named after. He pitched for the Jacksonville Suns in 1967 and is a member of their Hall of Fame.

Hopefully, with the new and improved ratings, I can pitch in the minors now and work my way up to MLB and not get released.

Congratulations on finally getting another contract! You looked impressive in Spring Training, so I think you might have a chance at moving up to AAA by season's end, maybe even the majors.

And I am going through the same thing that Nolan Ryan did as well, as a middle reliever before becoming a starter. The only thing is that it's going to take me longer to get to the majors, if that ever happens.
