    7/31/12

    Another night, another appearance.

We continue our series against the Cubs and I am called upon in the bottom of the 7th with the bases empty, two outs and the score 4-1 Dodgers. I get the batter to fly out to end the inning and I am pinched hit for in the top of the 8th to end my night. We tacked on three more runs in the 8th and two more in the 9th and won the game, 9-2. This is my first career hold in the majors.

      8/1/12

Tonight is the last game of the series against the Cubs and, you guessed it, I am called into the game. Brad Penny started this mess tonight by giving up a run in the 1st and I am called upon in the bottom of the 2nd had surrendered five more runs this inning. The bases are now empty and there are two outs as I take the hill. This was probably one of my best efforts in the majors as I no-hit the Cubs in 2 1/3 perfect innings before being pinched hit for in the top of the 5th. We went on to lose the game, 7-3.

      Code:
                     1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

          8/2/12

We are now in our nation's capital as we are finishing our road trip in Washington, D.C. to face the Nationals.

This is my sixth appearance in six nights as I am summoned in the bottom of the 5th inning to start the inning with the score 6-1, Nationals. I give up a solo homer to Felipe Lopez, #100 for his career, in the 5th and then uncorked my first wild pitch in a Dodgers' uniform after allowing a single in the 6th. I got out of the early jam unscathed and left for a pinch hitter in the top of the 7th. We ended up losing, 8-5.

          Code:

We'll see how long my stay is this time. I expect that for this season and maybe the next (this is my last year of a 2-year contract) that I may be bouncing between the majors and triple-A.

I had told the Dodgers' organization that I would like to stay here and extend the contract but they were undecided as to what they were going to do and would wait until the end of year. The Dodgers are in a rebuilding mode and didn't do anything at the trade deadline.

My streak of appearances continues as I enter tonight's game in the bottom of the 9th in a mop up roll as the Dodgers had scored nine times in the top of the 9th to take a 10-1 lead. I allow only a single in my inning of work.

                8/5/12

After a well deserved, I think, night off, it's back to the hill for me in the conclusion of the four game series against the Nationals. Tomorrow is a scheduled day off so I will get another day off.

I am brought in to start the bottom of the 7th with Washington leading, 5-1. I only allowed 1 hit and struck out 2 before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the top of the 9th. The Dodgers lost, again, 5-3.

How can I do this to me?

I was brought into the game in the top of the 3rd inning and there's runners on 1st & 2nd with 1 out and 3 runs already in as I make my home debut. I immediately add more fuel to the fire as I allowed both runners to score plus one of my own before the end of the 3rd. I then allowed a single run in the 4th plus two more in the 5th as I continued to get my head handed to me by the Mets. The Dodgers tried to rally in the 9th but we lost, 11-8.

                  Code:
                                 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

It's back to the mound I go as I enter the top of the 7th inning of a 7-4 ballgame with one out and no one on. I allow one hit before ending the inning and then get the first batter out in the 8th before being lifted. The Dodgers held on to win, 7-4, to snap our losing streak.

The Dodgers' manager took me aside today after I was done working on my mechanics in the bullpen with the pitching coach. He told me that Hiroki Kuroda suffered broken ribs during last night's game and that I was going to replace him in the rotation until he returns. He told me that my first start in the majors will be against the Colorado Rockies in the first game of our series in Dodger Stadium.

If you are not nervous under these conditions, then you are not human. Since I am, the butterflies are batting their wings around big time and I have a glass of ginger ale in order to try and settle my stomach.

I end up pitching a 1-2-3 first inning with only 8 pitches and I don't give up a hit until after 1 out in the 2nd inning. After throwing six shutout innings, I give up a triple and a single to surrender the Rockies' first run of the game and I am relieved by Scott Proctor with the score 2-1 Dodgers. We get four more runs in the bottom half of the 8th inning and the LA bullpen allows a run in the 9th as we win the game, 6-2. MY FIRST MAJOR LEAGUE WIN!!!!!

Congratulations on your first win in the majors!!!

Hopefully, the Dodgers aren't overusing Lynn's arm. We wouldn't want any injuries!

You have pitched very well in the majors thus far. The Dodgers would be stupid to not sign you with all your young potential in my opinion, but we'll see I guess.

Are the Dodgers in position to head to the playoffs? If so, maybe you can log your first MLB playoff game!

Thanks to the current 6-game winning streak, the Dodgers have just moved up to 4th place in the NL West. They were in rebuilding mode for trading purposes but they didn't do anything.

We are on the road and in Flushing, NY to face the New York Mets as I take the hill for my second MLB start.

The offense spots me a 3-0 lead before I even throw a pitch. I give up a triple followed by a sac fly in the first and a couple of hits in the 3rd that gave the Mets another run. The lineup scored a run in the top of the 3rd and then added 3 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th as I am relieved in the bottom of the 7th with one out and the score 8-2 Dodgers. The bullpen gave up 3 runs in the 8th and we ended up winning the game, 8-5, for my second win of the season. I also went 1-for-3, with a sacrifice bunt, and uncorked my second wild pitch in my MLB career.
