Re: The career of a man named Lynn - RTTS

    6/14/12

It's the end of our series against the Beavers and I am called upon again. I enter the game at the start of the 7th inning with the 51s in front, 3-2. I give up a hit to the second hitter of the inning otherwise it's another shutout inning and I am out of there. We end up tacking another run on the board and we win 4-2. I get my first hold of the season.

      6/15/12

We are off to take on the Bees and I am entering the game in the bottom of the 6th with 2 out and a runner on second. This is now the fourth day in a row for me and my sixth appearance in the seven days that I have been back from my cup of coffee in the show.

I allow the man to score, making it 2-1 Salt Lake, then give up a run in the 7th and we go on to lose the game 3-1. It's another no decision for me, such the life of a middle reliever.

      Code:
                     1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
      Las Vegas 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 1 4 0

I better get back to running and increasing my stamina if this keeps up. The manager is running me ragged as I am called in again to pitch. I enter the game with 2 out and a man on first in the bottom of the 7th inning with us in front, 9-2. I get the first batter to end the inning then I give up one run in the bottom of the 8th as I finish the game for us as we won easily, 11-4.

        Code:

If the team is playing, then I must be pitching. We are in the bottom of the 8th with the score 4-2 Salt Lake with a runner on first with one out as I come in. I strike out the first batter and get the next batter to end the inning. We score three runs in the top of the 9th to take the lead but our closer allows two runs and the 51s lose, 6-5.

          Code:

That's some bad The Show AI that would allow you to used in five games especially when one is a blow out.

Even "Everyday Eddie" had days off. That's why I went back to getting more running in, to build up my stamina. Mike "Moonman" Marshall was used in over 100 games one year in the '70s. We'll just have to see what the AI's plans for me are.

                6/19/12

After getting a day off due to a scheduled off day, I am back on the mound as we start our homestand by hosting the Tacoma Rainiers.

Thanks to a bad performance by our starter, I enter the game in the top of the 3rd with two outs and runners at the corners and 4 runs already in. I struck out the first batter I faced to end the inning then lasted until one out in the 7th when I am pulled after allowing my 8th hit. I gave up a pair of runs in both the 5th and 7th innings so it really wasn't as good an outing although I went four innings for the team. We ended up getting beat, 8-5.

                  6/20/12

I guess that pitching the four innings last night didn't warrent a day off tonight as I am back on the mound in the top of the 6th with 2 outs and a runner on first with the score 6-3 Rainiers as they have scored three runs already this inning. I got out of the jam by getting the first hitter to ground out then pitched the 7th inning and allowed 1 hit and was done for the night. We went on to tie the game in the last half of the 7th but the 51s ended up losing again, 8-7.

I almost got tonight off but I am called into the game against Tacoma in the top of the 9th with 1 out and runners on the corners. Four runs are already in this inning as our closer falters after coming in with the lead, 3-2, and not holding it. I get the first batter to ground out into a double play and that ended the threat. We ended up not getting any runs in the bottom half of the 9th and lost, 6-3.

If there's a game, then I'm there. We are in Tucson to face the Sidewinders and my consecutive game run continues. I enter tonight's game in the bottom of the 7th with 1 out, nobody on and the score 3-1 as the Sidewinders tacked on a run before I walked to the mound. I hold Tucson scoreless and allowed 2 hits in my 1 2/3 innings as I am pinched hit for in the top of the 9th. We tied the game with solo runs in the 8th and 9th innings but to no avail as a 2-run walk off home run for Tucson caps a 3-run 11th inning and they win the game, 6-4.

After a couple of well deserved days off, I am back on the mound as we are finishing our series in Tucson. I entered the game in the bottom of the 8th inning with one out and a man on 1st with the Sidewinders winning, 8-0. I get the next two hitters out and that is it for me. Tucson's reliever pitched a scoreless 9th as we go down to defeat, 8-0.

The manager asked me to stay late in the locker room so that he could have a word with me. The manager told me that Eric Stults was being placed on the DL and asked me to fill in his #2 spot in the rotation while he is out.

Wow, you finally got a game off! By my count you pitched in 10 consecutive games. That has to be some kind of record.

At this rate you'll be near 200 innings pitched by the end of the season...and you're a reliever!
