      Rockies Bullpen Struggles!!!!!

Giants beat up Rockies bullpen, get win late.

It wasn't a crushing victory for the Giants, but they'll take it, as they beat the Rockies by a final count of 7-5 last night. Dan Ortmeier had a big home run and 2 RBI, making the most of his 1 for 1 day at the plate. Working in relief of Barry Zito, Keiichi Yabu came into a tie game and vultured his 3rd win of the season, pitching 1 inning and allowing no runs. Pitcher Jack Taschner had to leave early after getting injured (elbow tightness). As a result, he's day-to-day.

The two teams conclude their series this afternoon at AT & T park, with Jonathan Sanchez going for the Giants against Greg Reynolds and the Rockies.

Flirting with history? Trachsel/Bradford allow only one hit in O's 5-1 victory over Rays!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - The Orioles came in hoping to end the month of April on a high note and they did in dramatic fashion. Steve Trachsel was phenomenal in allowing only 1 hit in 7.1 IP. The lone hit coming off the bat of Johnny Gomes in the 2nd inning forced Trachsel from the game in the 8th after running out of steam. Chad Bradford came in to relive Trachsel and went the rest of the way without allowing any hits of his own. In total, the Rays only reached base on 4 occasions and never was any serious threat to the "Birds" tonight after the 1st inning. The O's offense, after being blanked 12 straight innings yesterday, came out with a mission and sent 10 batters to the plate in the opening stanza scoring 5 times. Melvin Mora began things with a solo shot off of Rays starter Andy Sonnanstine and the remaining 4 runs came with 2 outs in the inning as the next 7 O's that came to the plate reached successfully. The Orioles head into May in last place in the division, but only 7.0 behind the now front running Red Sox.

Thanks guys. Trachsel has pitched really well for me other than that one outing where he didn't make it out of the first. It's starting to come together a little bit. I'm getting the feeling of another Major League movie in the making. LOL!!! By the way, those transactions and standings are nuts. The Nats are already 16 games out of first!!!!!

Highheat, I seem to be going through what you was, I'm struggling to find a team, nobody was reading my Braves 'chise. So I polled and people voted for Pittsburgh. Wish me luck, but do you mind me copying you house rules over into my page, I'll give credit to ya.

                            Cardinals Drop Ace Right-Hander!!!!!

The Cardinals get the better of Johnny Cueto in win.

Last night at Busch Stadium the Cardinals scored a one-run victory (4-3) against the Reds, sending the crowd of 35,907 fans away from the stadium in a good mood. At least until they get into traffic, and then we can't promise anything. Rick Ankiel crushed a big home run -- his only hit in 4 at-bats -- and drove in 2 runs to kick-start the offense. Branden Looper worked only 5.2 innings, but he was able to get his 3rd win of the season, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits before the bullpen took over.

Following an off day today, the Cardinals will play host to the Cubs starting tomorrow night, with St. Louis going with Mike Parisi and Chicago turning to Jason Marquis.

O's rally late but come up short as Rays take series!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - Edwin Jackson earned his 2nd win of the year tonight in silencing the Orioles offense. Edwin delivered 8.0 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits in the process. He got help from 3 solo home runs throughout the game by Cliff Floyd, Carlos Pena, and Johnny Gomes. The Rays took a 4-0 lead to the 9th inning when they decided to pull Jackson and things almost fell apart. Reliever Trever Miller allowed the first two Orioles to reach base. Troy Percival then came on in relief with one out and allowed back to back singles by Ramon Hernandez and Nick Markakis to cut the lead in half. With the winning run at the plate in Jay Payton, Percival got Payton to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the ballgame and send the O's packing their bags as they prepare to head west without a day off to face the Angels tomorrow night.
