"Birds" soar over A's as fans stay late to witness a wild roller coaster ride in Oakland!!!!!

Oakland, CA - One thing is for sure, the Orioles may be in last place, but they have a team filled with hearts of a champion and are fun to watch this season. Tonight in Oakland was no exception. The Orioles got off to an early lead thanks to Aubrey Huff who singled in the 1st to score Brian Roberts and then hit his 5th home run of the year, a 2-run shot in the 3rd to give the O's a 3-0 lead. That lead wouldn't last long, as in the bottom half of the 3rd, the Athletics responded with 4 runs off of "Birds" starter Garrett Olson to take the lead. In the bottom of the 4th, the game looked to get out of hand for the Orioles as the Athletics managed to plate 3 runs without registering a hit in the inning due to 4 walks, a sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice. With the O's down 7-3 and 2 outs in the 8th, the rally caps came out in the form of Ramon Hernandez and Luke Scott who both hit clutch 2-run home runs in the inning to even things at 7-7. The game would carry into the 11th inning when Oakland would load the bases with 1 out, but reliever Jamie Walker would strikeout both Kurt Suzuki and Bobby Crosby to end Oakland's chance of a walk off. In the 12th, the Orioles got a lead off double from Alex Cintron and Nick Markakis would single with 2 outs to help the "Birds" come all the way back and regain the lead, leaving things to closer George Sherrill. Once again, the A's responded, Eric Chavez delivered the only triple of the game off the wall in right center field with 1 out and Chris Denorfia sacrificed him home with a fly out to left field to tie the game up at 8-8 after 12 innings. The Orioles would not hang their heads, as in the 13th, they got a single by Luke Scott, who then was substituted for Adam Jones who got to 3rd on a single by Ramon Hernandez to put runners at the corners with 1 out in the inning. Guillermo Quiroz picked a really great time to get his 1st RBI of the year, as he would hit a deep fly to right to plate Jones and once again turn the tables in the visitors favor. This time, George Sherrill slammed the door shut and gave Baltimore a much needed victory and hopefully one they will build on as the two teams finish the series tomorrow night.

Hey windseer, good to see you. Yeah, I've been thinking of adding it in. I probably will. I'll have to see where it looks good in the setup. If I decide not to, I'm still doing all the team stats every 20 games, so you guys will be able to check it out there.

          Ramirez Joins 500 HR Club!!!!!

Manny Ramirez clubs career long ball number 500, but team loses.

A home crowd of 40,586 fans witnessed the Tigers win a tight 9-8 decision with the Red Sox last night, giving the club a tough one-run victory. The club was helped by Brandon Inge, who drove in 1 run by going 1 for 1. Todd Jones ended up being the victor, eschewing his usual "S" for a "W," his 1st of the season.

The series continues tonight, as the Red Sox send ace Josh Beckett (4-1, 3.42) to the mound against Armando Galarraga (2-2, 6.95) and the Tigers.

Great pitching leads Orioles to series clincher over A's!!!!!

Oakland, CA - Jeremy Guthrie turned into the ace that the Orioles franchise saw in him tonight in Oakland. Jeremy delivered a solid 7.0 inning outing in earning his 3rd victory of 2008. The O's starter allowed only 1 run coming off the bat of Emil Brown, a solo home run to right, but that would be all the Athletics could muster against the visiting "Birds". George Sherrill threw only 6 pitches in the 9th inning to capture his 10th save in 11 opportunities on the year. Former Athletic, Ramon Hernandez provided an RBI in the 2nd and scored a run in the 5th to pace the offense. The win gave the Orioles the rubber match as they fly to Kansas City to begin a 4-game set against the Royals beginning tomorrow night.

                Orioles Earn Non-Divisional Win!!!!!

A nice day for the Orioles, as they defeat the Athletics.

The Orioles defeated the Athetics last night by the final score of 3-1, in front of 27,233 fans at McAfee Coliseum. Melvin Mora went 2 for 3 and knocked in 1 run for the winning club. It was a solid start for Jeremy Guthrie, who went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, to pick up his 3rd win of the season.

Tonight the Orioles are in Kansas City to begin a series with the Royals, Daniel Cabrera (4-2, 3.79) and Brett Tomko (2-2, 3.22) are the projected starters at Kauffman Stadium. Ross Gload looks to build on his 10-game hitting streak.

ever so slowly, you're crawling back to .500 I really think you're gonna make some noise in the division before its all said and done.
Hey Orion. Thanks again for coming back and leaving some posts and opinions. I was starting to believe this was getting a little stale with all of you, I hope not though. Thanks for the support, I think it's time my "Orioles" make some noise as well. I'm starting to play better and get a better feel to the pitching. We'll see, I guess.

I guess everyone who takes the time to do one of these things must always deal with a little doubt once in a while. The way I combat the doubt is I treat it like a journal,I can always go back to relive seasons past and if some other people pick up on it,all the better!

I have no doubt in posting my recaps. I love doing them. I just need to verify sometimes that you all are still following and enjoying it. If things are needed, etc....I added the stat leaders, which takes extra time to look up each game because it was a request. I want this thread to be the best it can be and for it to please your reading pleasure each time you come in.

I'm still following. This is still one of the best baseball dynasties around... love reading the recaps. About the stats updates... I didn't even consider it taking more time for you, and with everything else you have in your update, how long it must take for you to do recaps. If the stats leaders are too much, I'm good with the every 20 days (I think you said 20 days... can't remember) stat updates you do. I just kinda wanted to see who was doing well at that moment. Anyway, keep up the great work!

Thanks man. I really don't mind doing the stats updates. I just wish I could find a way to present them better. I really don't like the way it's set up currently, but that's the best the website I use has. I'll have to do some searching around some more and see what I can come up with. Maybe it's just where I have them placed.
