Re: Highheat's Orioles (MLB "The Show" '08) Final Attempt!!!!
I am still following as well, just haven't been posting.
I think that once a week (game time wise) after the game on Sunday would be good enough for the stats leaders.
There's no need for you to go overboard a little, like me, as far as the O's stats are concerned. Mine are more comprehensive and almost in the same format as Sports Weekly. If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.Comment

The Butler Did It!!!!! Royals walk off in dramatic fashion!!!!!
Kansas City, MO - Kansas City jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 4th inning against Orioles' starter Daniel Cabrera. Jose Guillen drove in his 33rd RBI of the season with a double down the line in left field to plate Mark Grudzielanek and then later scored on a wild pitch by Cabrera. The third run of the inning then came on a 2 out RBI single by David DeJesus that drove in Ross Gload. The Royals couldn't hold the 3-0 advantage as the O's stormed back in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings to capture the lead with clutch 2-out hitting. Despite the "Birds" pounding out 17 hits on the evening, fate would not be on Baltimore's side when the Royals got an unlikely hero in the form Billy Butler. With one out in the 9th and Ross Gload at 1st, Butler took an 0-1 fastball from O's closer George Sherrill over the fence in left field to set off pandemonium at Kauffman Stadium and giving the Royals a dramatic 5-4 victory over the Orioles. Both teams resume the series tomorrow night.

Boston Pulls Off Late Rally!!!!!
Tigers can't hold late lead, lose to Red Sox.
Last night the Red Sox and Tigers logged some overtime, as the Red Sox finally won 8-5 in 10 innings, with a crowd of 39,896 on hand at Comerica Park. Manny Ramirez was clutch for the club, going 2 for 2 and driving in 1 run. It was a "quality start" for Daisuke Matsuzaka, who allowed 3 runs in 6 innings, but it was also a no-decision for him, as he was long gone when the game was decided. Jonathan Papelbon ended up being the victor, eschewing his usual "S" for a "W," his 1st of the season.
Tonight the Red Sox are in Minnesota opening the series with Tim Wakefield (4-1, 3.64) opposing Glen Perkins (2-3, 3.81) and the Twins.

Orioles' offense provides a "Royal" performance to even series!!!!!
Kansas City, MO - Something had to give tonight in Kansas City as both starters came into the game with a combined record of 0-8 on the season. The Orioles set the pace in the top of the 2nd inning. Freddie Bynum, who is becoming the everyday starting center fielder for the Orioles delivered a single to left field to score Nick Markakis to begin the scoring tonight. Brian Roberts then out hustled a potential inning ending double play ball to allow the second run of the inning to cross and give the O's an early 2-0 lead. After the Royals cut the lead in half in the bottom of the 2nd, the "Birds" would put together a huge 4-run 3rd inning that chased Royals' starter Gil Meche from the ballgame, eventually leading to his 4th loss of the season. In the inning, the O's got RBI's from Nick Markakis and Kevin Millar, then a 2 out double down the line in left from Freddie Bynum again, who would then score the final run of the inning off a single from Alex Cintron to put the O's out to a commanding 6-1 lead. With the O's leading 6-2, Bynum would sacrifice home Kevin Millar to put a cap on the scoreboard for the evening. Brian Burres finally picked up his 1st win of the season with a perfomance fit for a king. Brian went 8.2 innings and came within one out of delivering a complete game. Jamie Walker came in to get Alex Gordon to pop out to Melvin Mora to end the game and tying the series at one game each. The series will continue tomorrow night as the O's send veteran Steve Trachsel to the hill.

3000 K's For Smoltz!!!!!
John Smoltz and his teammates can't prevail, but he picks up career whif number 3000 in loss.
The Pirates won a close contest with the Braves last night -- the final score was 2-1 -- before a crowd of 28,267 at PNC Park. Giving the offense a mild boost was Zach Duke, who went 2 for 3 on the day. Zach Duke pitched a solid 7 frames, giving up 1 run and 5 hits to earn a quality start, his 3rd of the season, but he was unable to get the win. Franquelis Osoria needed only 1 inning of work to get the win, his 2nd of the season, in relief of starter Zach Duke.
Game 2 of the series is tonight, as Tom Gorzelanny (4-1, 4.90) will go for the Pirates against the Braves' Tim Hudson (4-1, 2.62). Yunel Escobar hopes to add to his 11-game hitting streak.

Orioles staff delivers shutout as offense continues to feast on Royals pitching!!!!!
Kansas City, MO - The Orioles jumped out of the gate early tonight against Royals' starter Brian Bannister and put on another great offensive display to capture their 4th win in 5 games to get them back to .500 for the month of May. It didn't take long for Luke Scott to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, as Luke started the scoring in the very 1st inning. With 2 outs, Scott delivered his 9th home run of the season over the wall in right center field to score Aubrey Huff and push the "Birds" out to a 2-0 lead. The very next inning, Freddie Bynum continued to show why he has secured the center field starting role by delivering an RBI single to left field. That was then followed by a 1 out 2 RBI single by Brian Roberts after a wild pitch got Millar and Bynum onto 2nd and 3rd. Brian then added one more RBI in the 9th inning to complete the scoring for the night as Steve Trachsel delivered a masterpiece by going 8.2 IP without allowing a run. Steve had the opportunity to secure a complete game shutout before Mike Moustakas delivered a 2 out single in the 9th that pushed Steve to his limit. Greg Aquino then came in and got the final out of the night to give the Orioles a dominating 6-0 win and guarantee at least a split in the series that ends tomorrow night before an off day for the "Birds".

Blue Jays Win Tight Game!!!!!
Blue Jays edge Indians in nail-biter.
The victorious Blue Jays tallied just enough runs, winning 6-4 to secure a road victory against the Indians yesterday. Shannon Stewart went 4 for 5 and drove in 1 run to spur the club to victory. Dustin McGowan was effective enough to earn his 3rd win of the season, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits over 6.2 innings.
The series continues with a day game this afternoon, as the visiting Blue Jays give the ball to Shaun Marcum (3-2, 4.32), who will be opposed by the Indians' Fausto Carmona (1-0, 1.97).
