As for the draft picks, I'm leaning towards getting a big -- insurance for Embiid. Okafor won't be cheap for much longer and big extensions loom for all your 1st round talent ... grabbing Bol to serve as Embiid's relief and a super-sixth man makes sense to me on paper.
I want Simmons to average more assist per game next year as once again he was only around 4 this year. So I am thinking about starting him officially at PG next year as for the most part its been PF this year. If I do that I will definitely need more depth at PF/C then guard as I will have Sexton, T.J and Allen off the bench at Guard.

I may look into trading Saric this offseason as he is just kind of average and Holmes I have locked up for more years. Like you said Okafor and Saric will both want big money soon so I might have to part with one of them this offseason.

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"

      Rookie Sexton is a Keeper

When Collin Sexton was drafted with the 12th pick you knew he wasn’t going to get a ton of minutes with all the depth of the 76ers. Just like all rookies in the past he got hurt and missed a big chunk of the season. The injury did hurt his ability to improve and get better still he has shown he is going to be a keeper and should be given more minutes next year.

He ended the year with 10.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.4 assist, 0.9 steals and 1.5 turnovers per game. His shooting was better then expected with .39% from 3, 86 % from the free throw line and 44% from the field. All of this was done in 21 minutes per game and his per 36 stats would be 16.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.6 assist. If you compare his numbers to Fultz last year they aren’t that far off.

Trevor Duval the PG drafted just ahead of Sexton was of course traded to the Grizzles in the Mike Conley trade. He has a little better stats and has improved his overall, which was expected as he got more minutes then Sexton did. It’s nice to see that both players appear to be living up to expections as late lottery picks.

We don’t expect Sexton to start next year as the combo of Ingles and Covington was a big reason why the 76ers got the #1 seed in the East. In the end we expect Sexton will stay in the 6th man and only start if there is a injury. He also needs to improve his defense, which is coming along and up to a C+. His athleticism, play making ability and good enough 3 point shooting is a nice pair with the star players and shooters the 76ers have.

        Playoff Preview

        Warriors vs Timberwolves
        Injuries (out for series) None
Analysis - The good news the Timberwolves sneak into the playoffs as the Lakers faulted down the stretch. The bad news the Warriors look unbeatable after winning near 70 games and have everyone healthy. The bench looks better then ever with improvements from Bell, Damian Jones and McGraw.

        Spurs vs Trailblazers
Injuries (out for series) Pau Gasol (spurs) & Derrick Rose (trailblazer)
Analysis The Vucevic trade looks to be the best thing to happen to the spurs in years as they was the hottest team in the league after the break. Since Gasol is hurt it looks even better and the Spurs should advance here.

        Rockets vs Clippers
Injuries (out for series) Ryan Anderson (Rockets)
Analysis - Its hard to imagine the Rockets losing here as the Clippers have yet to really make any moves the last 2 years. A first round exit should call for something different to happen. The Rockets just need to keep everyone healthy as they don't have much depth.

        Thunder vs Pelicans
Injuries (out for series) Pierre Jackson (pelicans)
Analysis - This one should be a good series as the Pelicans are better around the big 2 with the addition of Bazmore and Bojan Bogdanovic. We predict the thunder in 6, but wouldn't be shocked if we see a upset.

        ------------------

        76ers vs Nets
Injuries (out for series) - None
Analysis - This will be a fun series with 2 new up and coming teams and a very good draw for the 76ers as they avoid veteran teams like the Wizards and Raptors who almost got the 8th seed. The 76ers should win this one in 5 or 6 games just to much depth for them to lose.

        Pistons vs Wizards
Injuries (out for series) Jon Leuer (pistons) & Bradley Beal (-4 ovr) and Markieff Morris
Analysis - The Pistons play old school defense basketball and are loaded with front court players in Drummond, Faried, Rookie Jackson, Boban Marjanovic and Henry Ellenson. The other side the Wizards are playing small ball with Morris hurt and 2 below average Centers in Robin Lopez and Gortat. The Pistons chocked in the first round last year and we say they do it again and the Wizards win in 7.

        Bucks vs Celtics
Injuries (out for series) Tony Snell (bucks) -& Al Horford, Jaylen Brown, Kyrie Irving (Celtics)
Analysis - No team in the league except maybe the Grizzles got hurt more with injuries then the Celtics. If they can hang onto the Grizzles pick next year could be there year. I just don't see how you can beat a good team with 3 players injured. They still have Bosh, Tatum, Heyward, Smart and Bambo still the Bucks have a big advantage in the backcourt and we say the bucks in 5.

        Cavs vs Raptors
Injuries (out for series) Cedi Osman & Jason Richardson (cavs)
Analysis - This is a tough draw for Lebron in the first round who is going to have to start at SG for the rest of the playoffs. I think the Raptors keep it close and fall in 6.

            Nets Game 1

It would not take the crowd long to get into the game as Philly started out on a 7-0 run with 3 pointers by Embiid and Ingles. The 76ers would stay hot and with 6:11 to go in the first quarter up 20 to 9. The defense was paving the way with 3 steals and 7 fast break points. The Nets would come back and cut the lead to 2 points at the end of 1. Even after just 1 quarter it was obvious the Nets big men wasn’t going to be able to slow down Embiid and the others from scoring in the paint. The 76ers had 24 of there 35 points in the paint.

The Nets was hanging tough though And at halftime was actually up 1 point. Thy Nets had taken 24 3 pointers at half and hit 11 of them. For the 76ers not only did Embiid have 17 points and 10 rebounds Okafor also matched him with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

The Nets had no choice in the 2nd half they had to start double teaming Embiid. When they did it set up a lot of open looks for Ingles who went 4 for 9 from 3 and scored 23 on the night. It was a close game, but in the end the 76er hung on to a 5-point victory.

We knew going into the series that it would be hard for the Nets to win the series and after game 1 it could be a sweep. If the Nets can't win a game when they shoot 47% from 3, how are they going to win ? They are going to have to get more from Julius Randal who had just 2 points and 4 shot attempts in 30 minutes. When Embiid plays like this it allows ben to be the do everything player and open up easy looks for the shooters. Tonight Ingles was the guy that took advantage of the open looks as Covington only had 5 shot attempts.

Okafor has 17 1st half points

Good win, close competition from the Nets. Big bench production from Okafor ... definitely going to be expensive to retain the offseason.

Okafor is so good to have as insurance incase Embiid gets hurt or is in foul trouble there per 36 minutes are pretty much identical. I might have made a mistake when I didn't see him to a extension this year as he was asking for 17 million per year.

I have adjusted the sliders for both sides in theory make the offense score less

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"

                    Nets Game 3

Joel Embiid got off to a blazing hot start and with 4:26 seconds to go in the first quarter he had 11 points and 5 rebounds. The 76ers was up 24 to 14 at the time and would hang on to a double-digit lead at the end of the 1st quarter. There isn’t a whole lot to say about this game as it was never in doubt. The Nets didn't get blown out just the lead never got into single digits and it always seemed like the 76ers was in control.

The 76ers would go on to win 125 to 111 to take a commanding 3-0 lead. They 76ers played the starters a little more then usual as they starting 5 all played well. Simmons was just 2 rebounds shy of a triple double and both Ingles and Covington scored over 20. Embiid was a monster once again with 17 and 17 while Okafor didn't do much in 14 minutes. Fultz took a back seat and only took 6 shots in the game.

The 76ers changed defense strategy in this one and instead of putting the best defense on Deangelo Russell in Covington they let there worst wing defender guard him in Fultz. Basically what they was doing is saying "Russell can score 40 if he wants just Carroll and Crabbe aren't going to beat us" That move really paid off as Crabbe and Carroll went 13 for 37 (35%) and Fultz is still a good enough defender and kept Russell under 30.

Not in the house of Embiid

                          Nets Game 4

The offenses got off to a bit of a slow start and in the mid 2nd quarter it was only 38 to 25 with the 76ers lead. Once again the 76ers was doing the damage by the way of big men Okafor and Embiid. Then disaster happened Covington came down on his wrist broke it and will miss the rest of the playoffs. It was now the 3rd quarter and Embiid could not be stopped though the Nets was hanging around within striking distance. With Simmons and Embiid resting at the same time Saric and Sexton stepped up to maintain the lead while the stars rested.

It was now the start of the 4th quarter and the 76ers had a 84 to 79 lead. Embiid would hit a jumper to keep the lead at 5 with 9:21 seconds to go and that was 30 on the night for him. With the injury to Covington down the stretch the 76ers would go with Simmons, Fultz, Ingles, Okafor and Embiid to try and sweep the Nets. Alan Crabbe for the Nets would tie the game with a jump shot with 5:45 to go in the 4th. Fultz who is having a quiet series still hadn’t scored in the game. That would finally change with 5:05 to go and it was a tie game.

Okafor has played great this series and back-to-back baskets put the 76ers back up 1 with 3 minutes to go. The nets keep on scoring though and a Ingles 3 would tie the game with 2:10 to go. Joel Embiid had 5 fouls and it goes without saying he needs to be in the game in crunch time. He would avoid a foul and block the shot and what looked like it was a foul. Fultz got the ball and with only 1 minute and 1 second to go not only hits a layup to go up 1. He was fouled and would then hit the FT in a huge change of events. Fultz hot 4th would continue with a wide open 3 pointer that would break the tie with 29 seconds to go. Crabbe would miss his wide-open 3 and a Embiid rebound would seal the game.

Its a big series win for the 76ers to come out and take care of business and get the sweep. The Nets just didn't have a answer down low and it showed again with Embiid getting 32 and 17 and Okafor 25. Ben was 1 assist shy of a triple double now its time to go home and see who wins game 7 Wizards or Pistons.

Fultz big and 1 down the stretch

Big loss of Covington, your bench has enough parts to step up in his absence ... but the question is who gets those minutes? Allen? Anderson? Holmes? Going to be very interesting to see.

Also, the Nets fought hard -- that team is not a joke. Bright future for them if guys continue to develop.

I am about to start working on a article about what I do with those minutes should have up before I leave work. With who I am playing in round 2 It makes for a interesting decision.

The Nets are team on the rise and should be back in the playoffs next year or atleast in contention. They will have two draft picks in the teens (got the lakers for taking on deng). The problem is they wont be able to land a impact player with them and the cap space will be taken up with resigning of Randall and Deangelo.

Were I the Nets, I'd think about unloading Carroll with one of those draft picks to some team (the Hawks maybe?) and, with the free cap space make some under-the-radar signings.

Their cap sheet will be ugly for the next two years, but Brooklyn has no issue paying for stuff. Unloading Carroll isn't necessary, and, frankly, I'd be fine paying through the nose for the next two years (and taking on two developmental rookies in this draft), then watching that cap space come free when Mosgov, Deng, and Carroll come off the books.
