Tovarich: Another surprisingly easy win over the Cajuns, not as easy as the one at their place, but that's supposed to be the second or third best team in the conference and they've really had two duds against us.

Reporter: All your big guys struggled to score from point blank range

Tovarich: Yeah, luckily we rebounded well, not that it helped. I think we missed 4 in a row on one possession from right under the basket. Luckily we did a good job on 3's.

Reporter: Why do you match up so well with the Cajuns as opposed to some other teams like FIU?

Tovarich: I have no idea. There's only one new coach in the league in the last 3 years, so we all know each other's tendencies pretty well. They play a lot like we do I guess, but we have better athletes. Not a good matchup for them. It's still surprising though. They're an older team, better team unity than us, but we're still unranked, so I'm not sure we can be beaten.

Reporter: Were you worried about looking ahead to your new nemesis Florida International?

Tovarich: Not at all. The Cajuns are too good for that. Our last 3 home games here were against the top 3 teams on paper. Hopefully New Orleans doesn't play like North Texas in our one road game.

Reporter: You've clinched a tie for the regular season championship. Is that something to celebrate or did you have that banner made before the season too?

Tovarich: It's a recurring order with Amazon every year. It auto-ships each new season.

Tovarich: Hideous game. Luckily it was equally hideous by both teams. It was obvious from the get-go that rebounding was going to be awful. We did a good job getting back in the stats in that aspect. That was worse than -8 for a while. No one seemingly could shoot. Big guys all struggled again. I think they got 3 blocks in one possession on us lol. Should've just held it for 35 more seconds each time.

Reporter: Did you get the revenge on FIU you wanted?

Tovarich: Winning the game will have to do. Giving them another loss is nice. They were in a 5-way tie with 6 losses.

Reporter: How do you feel about the bench today?

Tovarich: Well, Jordan, like most people couldn't hit a shot. They were in the zone against him, something they did not do at all the first game. It's like they were baiting us to shoot 3's because we were open, knowing we wouldn't make many. Psychics they must be. There were no stoppages for such a long time in the second half I didn't get a chance to sub in the B team, and by the time they did, I felt like running some clock was wisest the way the game was going, so in fairness to them, they couldn't do much because we didn't give them much of a chance, but they didn't do anything that gave me any faith they would tonight either.

Reporter: Are you dreading the poll coming out Monday?

Tovarich: We're very close to being ranked. I'm a little worried.

Reporter: The first bracketology shows you as a 7 seed. Is that what you expect?

Tovarich: Hopefully we've got 5 games left and can move up a little. We aren't likely to get out of the 1st round if we're in a 7-10 game.

Reporter: You clinched the regular season outright the other day when FIU lost to South Alabama. Did you celebrate?

Tovarich: Absolutely not. Focused on FIU.

What has happened to Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, and Kentucky? None of them at the top of their conferences.

Tovarich: Nice easy road win, don't get many of those. Luckily we shot well, because so did they, except for Camper. Trying to get him going, and just can't seem to. I know he's a freshman but still struggling mightily. I've used quite a few pep talks on him. I don't know what else to do. Can't get him any layups, he usually gets blocked. Can't hit an outside shot though.

Reporter: Are your big men coming out of their slump?

Tovarich: I guess so, they didn't get pushed around like they did the last few games. Still lost rebounding, which is rough against a 5-22 team though.

Reporter: Can you get by Arkansas State while ranked, and is it being ranked, or is specifically being ranked 24?

Tovarich: Yeah, that's the only spot we seem to end up until we lose. Maybe 24 is the bad number. I'm ready to exercise the demons on that one. We need to up our seed here and finish strong. Nothing we're doing right now makes me think we could beat a power school in the first round.

Duke is actually on a 3-game win streak to improve to 4-9 in the ACC...North Carolina's 1 game ahead at 5-8. I specifically scheduled North Carolina because they won the national championship last year. Must have been a SR heavy team. Kentucky was ranked when I played them, but they're 16-10 now. Kansas is so-so, up to 8-5 in the Big 12. They finished 12th one year, not sure what's up with them.

Tovarich: Nice relatively low stress win. We've finally managed to go 2-0 in conference when ranked. It's a Christmas miracle!

                    Reporter: It's March coach.

                    Tovarich: Whatever.

Reporter: There's a chance you'll see Denver of FIU in Mobile. Which do you prefer?

Tovarich: I'll take Denver any day.

Reporter: Suotamo hit a 3. What happened there?

Tovarich: Crazy. That was purely accidental. Galbreath I think was driving it in, and he surely assumed Lewis or Li was over there and it happened to be Suotamo. We were all a little stunned. He'll hopefully retire shooting 100% in his life because I don't think he could do that again.

Reporter: You haven't won the Sun Belt tournament the last 2 years. Is that important?

Tovarich: Usually not really, no. But this year it would probably drop us down to a 7 seed, and we can't afford that if we at least want to make the 2nd round.

Tovarich: A great joy to end Denver's season, probably that coach's career hopefully.

Reporter: Do you really want him fired or don't you really want him to come back so you have more motivation to embarrass him?

Tovarich: You're right. Maybe the AD likes that he's 59-92 in 5 years.

Reporter: You mixed and matched a lot more instead of just A team and B team. Is that more the plan now?

Tovarich: We have great depth, so everyone can contribute. Li had a rough night. Jordan missed multiple layups. But we have options always. It may not keep everyone happy all the time, but it's a great problem to have, if you can call it that.

Reporter: FIU tomorrow, what do you expect?

Tovarich: Just the two teams I wanted to eliminate. It's perfect. We'll see if we get down 7-0 like we did against them the other day, and like we did against Denver tonight. Hopefully for the fan's sake we don't put on a 62-56 brickfest but any win will do to end their season. I don't even care who we'd see in the final. These are the two I want to personally eliminate.

Tovarich: Love the result, polar opposite of our game with them the other day. Both teams shot very well. We cooled off considerably in the second half. 22 turnovers might be the most I've ever seen. They were so intent on getting out in transition that we picked off a lot of their passes because they were so long. We got in a real dry spell there in the second half and they hit a bunch of 3's there. Eh well. We got to 100, the players were pretty excited to rub it in their face.

Reporter: No one had a really off night shooting. Can you keep that up for another game?

Tovarich: Yeah, that's a first. There's always someone who's like 1-7. We couldn't do much wrong there for 3/4 of the game before we went cold. That was just a fluke I expect. Someone will be off in the final surely.

Reporter: Cajuns in the final. You had two easy games with them. Does that bode well for this one?

Tovarich: Irrelevant. Our 3 games with FIU all went completely differently.

Reporter: You got outrebounded by 9, is that a concern?

Tovarich: Always. But when you get 22 turnovers, they can have 9 extra rebounds. I assume the Cajuns will take better care of the ball than that. I've never seen such bad pass attempts as what I just saw. They were trying too hard for transition that wasn't there.

Tovarich: Another shockingly easy win over them. Nice to win this thing for the first time in 3 years.

Reporter: Why do you match up so well with the Cajuns?

Tovarich: They lack height down low for sure. And the big guys shot how they should almost always shoot against smaller guys. That said, I can probably point to 88 games in my career where we constantly got dominated defensively, offensively, rebounding by small guys. Then obviously they lack depth. Only 8 guys play and the one just got in for a quick minute. We have great depth. I didn't even press them at any point or they'd really have been exhausted. It's an experienced starting 5 for sure, but they need more depth and they need more height. Very athletic team, but we can usually take advantage of them.

Reporter: Joe Lunardi has you as a 5 seed. Is that what you expect?

Tovarich: Maybe we'll get lucky and move up to a 4. Big difference between playing these Memphis and Air Force type 12 seeds and maybe getting a Hofstra or a Long Island or a Boston U. Enormous difference. We'll need some luck.
