    ?? for my "veteran's committee"

I did not import the entire history of the players, which would have included those who played and ended their career before 1901. The following players would have been there and would have made the Hall of Fame based on their stats:

    Position Players
    Adrian "Cap" Anson
    Roger Connor

    Pitchers
    John Clarkson
    Jim "Pud" Galvin
    Tim Keefe
    Charles "Old Hoss" Radbourn
    Mickey Welsh

Should I/we induct them into our hall?
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.

Go Willie Keeler!!! I played in a historical strat-o-matic league a couple of years ago and he was a beast for me.

I love the team nickname changes. Does the game do that automatically or do you have to do that? As always, great job.

As what seems to be commonplace now, these players are leaving way too early. Keeler's actual career ended in 1909 but here he finished in 1907. Cy Young's retirement came way too early as well but it was the back spasms that forced it. There are a few people whose career lengthened. Most of them are the 1 or 2 year players that lasted another year but Billy Hamilton had his career lengthened by seven years. He actually retired after the 1901 season in real life.

I have the game set up so that it does the nickname, as well as the ballpark, changes automatically. That makes it easier for me. I do, however, have a list of all of the name and ballpark changes so that I can post them when the time comes. I also have it set up so that the league expansions will happen automatically and I will hold the expansion draft. The first expansion won't happen until 1961, which is a heck of a long time from now.

1911 - MLB Year In Review

Fate frowned upon the Giants at the beginning of 1911 as on April 14th, their home ballpark, the Polo Grounds, caught fire. The Highlanders helped out their intra-city rivals by allowing the Giants to play their home games in Hilltop Park until the Polo Grounds could be rebuilt. The Giants just could not recover from that and although they moved back to the now rebuilt Polo Grounds in September, faltered their way to a seventh place finish, 33 games behind the amazing Chicago Cubs. Chicago raced to the lead and on September 1st, the Cubs were leading second place St.Louis by 12 and 1/2 games. The Cardinals, behind the bats of Shoeless Joe Jackson and Beals Becker, rallied and only trailed Chicago by 7.5 games with ten games to go. The Cubs held their ground and cruised to the pennant, winning by seven games.
The Cubs victory could once again be found in Three Finger Brown, who continued his dominance over the NL by winning 28 games and finishing second in ERA with 2.23. They were also led by the bats of Eddie Collins and Honus Wagner, who was playing in the last year of his current contract.
The American League race was a two-team affair as the defending champion Chicago White Sox did battle with the Washington Senators. These two teams just took off and on September 1st, Washington was in first place, 7 games ahead of Chicago. The White Sox caught fire during the month and trailed by only 2 games with ten games to go. On the last day of the regular season, Chicago was only 1/2 game back and then went out and won their game to end in a tie with the Senators for first place. Both teams had a full week to prepare for their game while the National League finished up their schedule and Washington, behind the pitching of Kid Speer, won the game 8 to 1. Washington was headed by the strong hitting of Nap Lajoie and Ed Konetchy as well as on the mound by Babe Adams and Jack Coombs. The Chicago attack was once again spearheaded by Ty Cobb, who followed his great 1910 season with another great year. Ty Cobb won his second straight batting title by hitting .376 plus he hit 8 home runs and drove in 68 runs as he repeated as the AL's Outstanding Hitter award winner.
Washington took an early 2 games to none advantage behind the arms of Reisling and Adams. The Cubs came right back and took both games 3 and 4 to tie the series at 2 games apiece then the Senators took the next two games to win the World Series as Reisling and Adams both won their second games of the series.

                            Re: up-to-date records

1912 is in the books except for the first-year player draft, which includes Babe Ruth. There was also, once again, a bazillion retirements that included two players heading for the hall.

1912 - MLB Year In Review

The Boston Red Sox, who finished third in 1911 and 15.5 games behind, opened a brand new ballpark, Fenway Park, and entering September, they were in first place, a game ahead of the Chicago White Sox. No other team was within ten games of them. By the end of the month, the White Sox pulled ahead by a game but Boston tied them a few days later. Both teams were neck and neck and had to go to an extra game to decide the AL title. Unfortunately for the Beantowners, that was the day that Ty Cobb came back from his latest injury and he led Chicago to victory by driving a couple of runs. The defending AL title holders, Washington, fell apart in mid August after an injury to star second baseman Nap Lajoie and finished 12.5 games behind Chicago.
In the National League, the Cincinnati Reds opened up a new ballpark themselves, Crosley Field, and were in front by two games over the 5-time defending NL champion Chicago Cubs by the time September rolled around. Chicago, behind the arms of Three Finger Brown and rookie Doc Crandall, caught the Reds in mid September and never looked back, finishing in first place by four games over the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies to win their seventh straight NL title. Cincinnati continued to fall and finished in third place, 5 games behind the Cubs, a great bounce back after finishing in the cellar in 1911.
The World Series was a rematch between the Chicago teams as they were in the 1910 series. The two teams went back and forth trading games and ended up going to a seventh game, the first time that this has happened in World Series history. The White Sox, behind the pitching of Cy Falkenberg, scored two runs in the third inning against the Cubs' Doc Crandall, and held on to win by a score of 4 to 1 and won their second world's championship.
