Yes, it was a very nice game. This should be an interesting season. My offense is one of the better offenses in the country, but my defense is...well...terrible. So if my defense steps up and plays decent - like they did against Buffalo - I could snag a few wins over superior teams. I could possibly even win six or seven games if all the right pieces fall into place, or I could lose the rest of my games. We shall see. Losing Callahan is going to suck though.

Defense Exposed in Embarrassing 41 Point Loss

BOSTON, MA - After last week's performance by Boston's defense when they allowed only eight points to Buffalo, some people thought that Boston's defense may not have been as bad as previously thought. Those ideas were slaughtered today, however, as the Florida Atlantic Owls put a thorough beatdown on the Colonials right from the opening kickoff.

The Owls exposed the Boston defense for the horrible defense it is. Florida Atlantic gained 584 yards of total offense, 230 rushing yards, and 354 passing yards in the 62-21 rout of Boston. Owls quarterback Robert Koger threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Lorenzo Lewis also put on quite a show as he gained 182 yards and a trio of touchdowns on only 21 carries.

"Simply put," Coach Frizzell commented, "our defense sucked. That's all there is to it. We sucked. We put on a miserable performance out there. If we do that against a good team like West Virginia or Louisville, they may spot 100 points on us!"

However, the Boston offense was still quite lethal. Chad Kemp threw for 318 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the game as he had his second game in a row with over 300 yards passing, even without Eric Callahan. Sure-handed Khalif Fitzhugh caught 11 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown in the win as he caught just about every ball thrown his way. Unfortunately, the Colonials never got much of a rushing attack going as they only picked up 40 yards on 22 carries.

The Colonials will look to rebound next week against the Boise State Broncos, but it won't be easy as the Broncos are one of the better teams in the nation and far and away better than Buffalo and Florida Atlantic. It could get ugly in Boise next week.

It is going to be a long year for both of us. I am going to start my season 1-4, and you suffered that terrible lost to a Sun-Belt team. Keep it up though.

Yes, they got some momentum and just steamrolled over us in the last game. Our defense was pathetic, as it should be (D- Rating). I was wondering if I needed some slider changes after my blowout win over Buffalo, but I don't think so after my last game.

              Here are my team's ratings:

              Overall: D+
Offense: C+ (though I have an excellent passing game)
              Defense: D-

              Ouch at the defensive rating.

Broncos Spot 91 Points on Lousy, Pathetic Colonials Defense

BOISE, ID - Okay, quite honestly, I have nothing to say about this game other than OUR DEFENSE SUCKS AND HAS NO SPEED. This was a miserable game to play. I swear that you could put a high school squad up against our defense and even he they would get 300 yards passing. Yuck...

Oh, and I know I scored 42 points and had 499 yards of total offense, but most of that was when Boise State had their second team defense in the game.

Oh, also starting halfback Billy Sims was injured in the second quarter and will miss two weeks.

                    William & Mary (FCS) @ Boston (1-2)

                    Embarrassment to the Fullest Extent

BOSTON, MA - And Boston fans thought it couldn't get any worse.

It may be embarrassing to allow 91 points to a talented Boise State squad, but it is even more embarrassing to allow an FCS team to score 50 points on you and to get beaten by 30 points.

"I'll just put it out there right now. Our defense sucks," explained Coach Frizzell. "I am trying to be nice, but I can't any longer. This defense is terrible. We might as well go recruit some high school defense in Boston to play for us. They'd do a better job than the guys we have now."

Though Boston outgained William & Mary 379-324, the Tribe too advantage of six Boston turnovers while not committing a single turnover of their own in their triple-option attack. The Tribe rushed for 208 yards on the day.

Boston uncharacteristically struggled on the offensive side of the ball. Boston's quarterback's threw a duo of pick sixes. Starter Chad Kemp only completed 37% of his passes and threw a pick six of his own. Boston had to resort to the running game since their passing game was not very good. Thus, the Colonials rushed for a season-high 124 yards. Steven Harris rusjed for 83 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

The lone star of the offense was Joe Harley, who had his second spectacular game in a row. He caught five passes for 125 yards and a touchdown to follow up last week's 222 yard performance.

The Colonials better prepare to be slaughtered next week as they travel to Chestnut Hill to take on Matt Ryan and the Boston College Eagles in their annual rivalry game.

LOL, thanks! The result of the next game is shocking, though, in a good way. It just goes to show that if the defense shows up for this team we are good. However, the defense rarely shows up...

                            Shocking Upset at Chestnut Hill

BOSTON, NY - The sides have been drawn in the first edition of this new rivalry between Boston and Boston College. The fuel for the rivalry has been lit as the Boston Colonials pulled off the shocking upset of the Boston College Eagles to send them to a disappointing 1-4 record.

Boston College was only 1-3 coming into the game, but after seeing Boston give up 91 points to Boise State and 50 points to William & Mary, most people chalked this up as an easy win for the Eagles. They were wrong.

Boston's defense was on fire in the first half as they held Boston College scoreless as the Colonials walked into the locker room up 23-0 while the crowd was in shock over the score. Matt Ryan was having a horrid day while Boston was running a balanced attack on offense.

However, Boston College seized the momentum off a 77 yard run by Coleman just 13 seconds into the second half as the Eagles stormed back to score 27 third quarter points and take a 27-23 lead heading into the final quarter.

However, Chad Kemp delivered a 38 yard touchdown pass to Joe Harley with five minutes remaining to go up 30-27. It looked like the upset might really happen.

Boston drove down the field once again after a Boston College fumble, but Chad Kemp was drilled on an incompletion inside the 10 yard line. He suffered a pinched nerve and will be out for four weeks. However, sophomore quarterback Marques Prater filled in to deliver a seven yard strike to Joe Harley to go up 37-27 with three and a half minutes remaining. The crowd went silent.

However, Matt Ryan led the Eagles down the field again and threw a 32 yard touchdown pass to bring the Eagles within three. However, they decided to not attempt and onside kick. Boston was able to burn out the clock and Marques Prater took a knee as the Boston Colonials pulled off their biggest win in school history and their first win over a BCS conference school!

The main difference maker to day was turnovers. Boston College had three fumbles by various receivers in the first half which put them behind. The Eagles ended with five turnovers compared to two Colonials turnovers.

The Colonials begin conference play next week at home against the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Pittsburgh took advantage of Boston's slow defense and coasted to an easy 48-21 victory in Boston. Both Joe Walker and Patrick Davis rushed for over 100 yards for Pitt as the slow Boston defense simply could not keep up.

Tyler Palko also had a nice day as the senior threw for 253 yards and a touchdown to complement Walker and Davis' combined 288 rushing yards.

Prater was impressive, but had some troubles during the first half as he tossed three first half picks, including a pick-six to end the half. The sophomore ended with 425 yards passing, a touchdown, and an interception. He also rushed for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Billy Sims returned from his injury and rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
