Griffey Jr. traded
ESPN reports that Ken Griffey Jr. has been traded to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies, who have had a disappointing year after a big free agent summer, were desperately trying to climb back into the pennant race and the addition of Griffey greatly increases their chances. The deal works out like this:
Ken Griffey Jr., Ruben Mateo, and Robin Jennings are off to the Phillies for Marlon Byrd and Vicente Padilla. The Reds get 2 up and coming players in Byrd and Padilla and hope to be competitive while reducing payroll...Comment

Re: Yankees series games 2 and 3
28 BP signing for Tejada seems like a steal. I'm not sure what I am going to do with him. I also have an A's franchise and I am about almost 60 games in. I want to resign him but I won't be able to do much in the offseason after resigning him.
I see that you traded for Josh Phelps. I tried to do that as well but it didn't work out....but coincidentally R. Hernandez went on a tear and is hitting well above .300. I don't need Phelps now.
How is Phelps doing for you now? And what does your budget look like now after resigning Tejada.
Do teams know that Tejada is sort of available and will the CPU look to offer more trades towards the trading deadline for him knowing that I haven't resigned him yet?Comment

Phelps is doing really well - he has 24 HR and 60 RBI's in 71 games so far and is a real dangerous hitter in my lineup. As for my budget, it looks pretty good. After all the trades I made - see my whole franchise thread - my payroll is at 262 and my projected income is 339 so even after I resigned Tejada, I know I will have some room in the off season. I also resigned Phelps and Wells to long term deals too. If your team does well throughout the season, you will get more money and thus, be able to sign more players. That's the strategy I am using, since there will be a lot of good free agents after the season is over. I don't know about the teams offering trades for lame duck players, but if you can, resign him now - he's a bargain for an MVP playerComment

Re: Yankees series games 2 and 3
I know its premature...but who do you have your eye on after the season is over? And is Scott Hatteberg interested in negotiating with you. He doesn't want to re-sign for me. What 1B are out there that I can get by trading Hatteberg...?Comment
