    Yeah, I was shocked. When I offered just Bradford, the Angels wanted 9 BP as well and I said no so I then searched my roster for a position which I had depth in (1B) and offered McCarthy (the weakest) as well as Bradford and they accepted. Bradford does have the same rating as K-Rod so that might be why the trade could go through. Still, one of my better trades so far...

      The A's start off their road trip by beating the lowly Tigers 3-1. Frankie Rodriguez, in his debut with the A's, pitched an inning in relief of a solid Ted Lilly outing to get the win. Vernon Wells got out of an 0-15 slump with a solo home run...

      ESPN reports that Tony Batista and Lance Berkman have been named AL and NL players of the week. ESPN also reports that Oakland had turned down a trade offer from Detroit. Detroit had offered Higginson, Van Hetten, and German for Barry Zito. Oakland GM Billy Beane stated that Zito is untouchable and wants to assure fans that the team is committed to winning, not having fire sales...

Chavez is named player of the game and is becoming a serious contender for AL MVP early in the season...

      Oakland completes the 3 game sweep of the Tigers by posting another good win. Barry Zito rebounded from a loss against the Yanks to pitch another fine game fanning 7 in 7 innings of work to earn player of the game honors. Frankie Rodriguez came in the 9th to earn his first career save The A's now travel to Cleveland to take on the Indians in a weekend series.

          ESPN has confirmed a trade between the Rangers and the Braves. The Rangers have acquired outfielder Gary Sheffield from Atlanta in exchange for Juan Gonzalez and Esteban Yan. Rangers management has been upset at the team's performance so far this season and felt that a change was necessary to shake things up. In Sheffield, the Rangers get a younger player with offensive power to protect A-Rod further, something which the team needs as the Rangers have fallen to the AL West basement and would like to make up some ground on the A's...

                          Minnesota's offense ate up Dewon Brazelton as he struggled mightily, giving up 5 runs in a third of an inning. Torii Hunter hit a three run homer to lead the attack and despite homers by Eric Chavez and Miguel Tejada, the A's were not able to come back. Hunter was named player of the game and the A's drop to 31-14 on the season.

                              ESPN Blockbuster Trade

                              ESPN reports a blockbuster trade between the A's and the Cubs. The Cubs have traded Kerry Wood to the A's for Keith Foulke. According to A's GM Billy Beane, Foulke was expendable after the acquisition of Frankie Rodriguez and was going to be a free agent at the end of the season so the A's wanted to get something for him now before losing him with no compensation. Wood was thrilled with the deal saying that he is happy to play for a contending team as well as join a strong rotation that includes the likes of Zito and Mulder. When asked if he had any more blockbuster trades, Beane replied that he was satisfied with the A's but would not hesitate in continuing to improve the team...The Cubs were also thrilled as they were able to obtain a closer for their struggling bullpen. The Cubs also signed Todd Stottlemyre to replace Wood in the rotation...

                              In other news, the A's have also signed 18 year old pitching prospect Chet Morman to a 4 year deal. Billy Beane noted that Morman has excellent upside and will be a future star with the club....
