Yeah it's always tough when you got 2 great players.. I am afraid it could be one of those years where each player takes enough votes away from the other that neither win..

South Carolina has former Auburn QB recruit Deuce Knight (90 Ovr) off to a great start and Oklahoma has a 5* CPU created recruit who last year as a True Freshman threw for 3207 yds with 34 TD and 6 INT and rushed for 454 yds with 12 TD now this year as a SO has already throwing for 1235 yds with 13 TD and 1 INT and has 172 yds rushing and 5 TD's. So both are pushing them for votes.

Yeah after the game I adjusted sliders some but I still scored 66 against Texas State in my next game and I just scored 52 against UCLA in my last game so I think it's time to make some more adjustments.. My team is pretty loaded though. Even my 3rd string QB and RB are mid 80's Overall and my WR room is stacked.. My biggest weakness right now is my O-Line.

He is a absolute stud. Will be interesting to watch his career IRL.. I am curious if he sticks at OSU and becomes a NFL QB someday.. In the game he has all the tools and the size at 6'4 230. He is a 94 Overall, 93 Speed, 91 ACC, 91 AG 90 COD, 76 STR, 88 AWR, 93 CAR, 99 BVC 80 BTK, 78 TRK 90 Juke, . He would be a amazing RB, but he also has a cannon of a arm with 99 THP, 86 SAC, 86 MAC , 83 DAC and 90 Break Sack. I never head of the kid until he had BSU #1 on the transfer portal

          BOISE STATE WINS AGAIN!!
          GAME RECAP

Boise State continues to dominate on both sides of the ball as they win their Pac-12 opener @ UCLA showcasing their high power offense yet again. The Broncos scored 7 touchdowns racking up a Total of 742 yards of Offense with 346 yds and 5 scores coming from their rushing attack once led by Seniors Sire Gaines and Dylan Riley.

Gaines added to his Heisman campaign #'s with a huge first half in which he carried the ball 22 times for 124 yds and 3 touchdowns.. Gaines is well on his way to a 3rd straight 1000 yd season with 549 yds in the first 4 games. The 3 TD's gives Gaines 11 on the season matching his 2027 total and once again puts him target to smash his own record of 28 TD's and Ashton Jeanty's record of 29 as he continues to work his way toward more National and Boise State record books.

Gaines though was the only Senior to have a great day.. His fellow Recruiting Classmate, Dylan Riley had a career day rushing for 150 yds on just 8 carries as Riley scores on runs of 73 yds and 57 yds. Riley was also huge in the receiving game with 3 rec for 54 yds as he total's over 200 yds of Offense on the day.

QB Tavien St Clair showed he can run and throw as the Juniors rushes 7 times for 69 yds well also throwing for 396 yds with 2 TD and 2 INT.

St Clair found another huge target in the passing game as USC Transfer TE Joey Olsen (82 Ovr) catches a career high 6 balls for 132 yds including a 38 yd TD.
          FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-52 UCLA-31

          UP NEXT

Boise will return home to Boise for just their 2nd home game of the season as they host (3-1) Arizona in Week 5.. The Wildcats started their season 3-0 with wins over Nebraska (34-31) and Colorado State (34-28) but lost this past week in Week 4 vs Utah (35-30).

          INJURY UPDATE

SR WR Cameron Bates will return to action this week but the Boise State Defense was dealt a huge blow as SR DE Ephraim Asiata (81 ovr) will miss the next 3 weeks with a Pulled Groin.. Asiata was leading the Broncos with 12 TFL and 6.5 sacks through the first 4 games and was on his way to his best season yet.

          RECRUITING NEWS

Coach Miller will officially host a handful of recruits this week including 4* Athlete Devaunte Zaron (#33 Overall/#1 ATH) a 6'4 304lb lineman who can play both sides of the ball, 4* DE George Durbin (#45 Overall/#1 HI/#5 DE) the Gatorade POY from Honolulu HI, and 4* WR Antonio Miranda (#79 Overall) the #2 player from Honolulu.

          Coach Miller
"We have always had a great relationship with players from the Big Island. Last year we had Coach Chang who grew up on the Island and was huge in helping us build a pipeline to the Islands. Even though he is gone it's important that we keep going after the top talent their and helping them view Boise State as a preferred destination"

This season Gooch already has passed for 1235 yds with 13 TD and just 1 INT well rushing for 172 yds with 5 TD leading the Sooners to a 4-0 start.

              NO GAINES NO PROBLEM
              GAME RECAP

Star RB Sire Gaines would carry the ball only 8 times for 31 yds before leaving the game with a injury but that didn't stop Boise State from almost matching their season high scoring record of 86 points as the Broncos dominated Arizona for their 5th win of the season.

With Gaines on the sidelines, JR QB Tavien St Clair took over with both his feet and his arm.. St Clair would rush for a career high 150 yds and score 2 TD's on the ground and passed for a career high 539 yds (NEW BSU RECORD) and 6 TD's despite not even playing most of of the 4th Quarter.

BSU jumped out to a early (21-7) lead in the 1st Quarter that included a Team Safety with 4:35 to play after failing to convert a touchdown from 4th and 1. Boise State would extend the lead to (46-14) at the half that included a career long FG of 53 yds by Diego Gutierrez.

SR WR Cameron Bates had a nice return to the starting lineup that included (2) 3rd Quarter TD grabs from St Clair as he finished with 7 rec for 83 yds. SO WR Kelian Bettis continued his strong season leading the team with 9 rec for 163 yds and 2 scores and TE Joey Olsen had another huge game with 7 rec for 79 yds and 1 TD

However the biggest play of the night game from backup TE Chase Loftin, as the former Florida State Seminole caught the biggest play of the season taking a pass over the middle from his former FSU teammate Tanner Applewhite running over 3 defenders as he broke free for a 95 yd touchdown. Applewhite and Loftin were not done though as the duo combined for 5 rec for 176 yds on the night. Applewhite would finish the game 8/10 passing.

St Clair wasn't the only player to make up for Gaines on the ground though, as transfer Bo Jackson puts together a huge game with 21 carries for 131 yds and 2 scores and Dylan Riley fresh off his 200 yd performance against UCLA added 48 yds on 8 carries and another 52 yds on 3 rec finishing with 100 yd game.

              FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-84 ARIZONA-27

              UP NEXT

Week 6 is the showdown for the Pac-12 North as #6 (5-0) Boise State takes on #21 (5-0) Oregon.

The Ducks defeated Utah State (31-17) in Week 1 before taking on Portland State (FCS) in Week 2 (35-13). Oregon the beat Baylor (30-10) before beating instate rival Oregon State (38-17) in Week 3.. They had a Week 4 "Bye" before returning for a (37-13) win over San Diego State as they move to 2-0 in Pac-12 play.

              INJURY REPORT

RB Sire Gaines is not on the injury report this week but could be limited with carries as he deals with some (Wear and Tear) issues.

The Ducks did a pretty good job with their coverage getting 4 INT"s in the 1st half as you will see in my next game but still managed to pull off a much needed win to keep my playoff streak alive.

                    BRONCOS PULL OFF COMEBACK!!!

                    GAME RECAP

Boise State pulled off a 2nd half comeback against #22 (4-0) Oregon in Week 6 to not only take a commanding lead in the Pac-12 North Division and a repeat trip to the Pac-12 Championship, but the Bronco's also made a huge impression on the Top-25 ranking voters as they jump to #4 with the victory..

BSU trailed at the end of the 1st Quarter (17-10) and at the end of the 1st half (27-13) as the Broncos once again played without Star RB Sire Gaines and backup RB Bo Jackson forcing the Bronco starting QB Tavien St Clair to throw 47 times leading to a season/career high 4 INT"s in the 1st half (1 was a hail marry with 18 seconds to play as I was trailing hoping to get a last second score)

Already missing Sire Gaines, backup Bobby Jackson was forced from the game after 8 carries for 34 yds early in the 2nd Quarter leading to a career high in carries by fellow RS SR Dylan Riley..

Riley however would also go down midway through the 3rd Quarter leaving just 1 healthy RB on the active roster in JR RB Greg Ard.. Ard would play well though with a career high 12 carries for 69 yds and QB Tavien St Clair would show off his ability to run as he carries the ball 12 times as well for 82 yds including a 3rd Quarter score that gave BSU the lead (30-27) going into the 4th.

Coach Matt Miller would use his ability to allow "Redshirting Freshman" 4 games of PT as he activated 6'1 209lb Tyler Fry in the 4th. Fry would respond with a 30 yd run on his first career carry and would finish the 4th Quarter with 9 carries for 58 yds..

Boise State would score twice in the 4th Quarter as St Clair finds Kelian Bettis for his 2nd touchdown of the game. The 28 yd catch was Bettis's 10th of the game and put him over 100 yds on the day joining SR WR Cameron Bates (7 rec 110 yds) in the 100 yd gang.

Dylan Riley returned late in the 4th Quarter to and would break a 21 yd touchdown run to give Boise State a 10 point lead with 1:18 to play but Oregon wasted little time as RS FR Santiago Vargas (82 Ovr) throws his 4th TD on the day completing a 55 yd bomb to RS FR Floyd Bettis (no relation to Kelian) to pull the Ducks within 3 points with still a minute to play in the game. For Bettis it was his 10th reception on the day as he goes over 200 yds (212).

Oregon would attempt the onside kick but BSU would recover but still armed with all 3 of their timeouts, Oregon would force BSU to punt with 27 seconds to play after failing to covert a 3rd and 2..

Vargas however was out of last second heroics as he throws a INT to SR LB Devonta Cushenberry

Boise state will have a "Bye" in Week 7 before returning to action as they host (3-3) BYU in Week 8. I will be posting a Week 7 Team Report.

                    INJURY NEWS
I am not sure what's going on because I don't actually have any injuries on my Team page but right now Gaines is unable to play because of what I assume is Wear and Tear issue and Jackson left early in the game and couldn't return.. I am probably going to try and adjust the Wear and Tear sliders to see if they can play or hope the Week 7 "Bye" week heals them.

                      WEEK 7 TEAM REPORT

                      HEISMAN REPORT
With Sire Gaines missing the past 2 game with injury (??) and with St Clair's 4 INT performance both Broncos have fallen out of the Heisman talks going into Week 8.

Gaines despite not playing the past 2 games still has 580 yds on 100 carries (5.8 avg) with 11 TD well St Clair has thrown for 2118 yds completing 61% of his passes well throwing 19 TD and 17 INT.. With Gaines out of action, St Clair has stepped up rushing the ball and now is 2nd on the team with 58 carries for 443 yds and 5 TD.

                      DYLAN RILEY
With Sire Gaines sidelined and backup Bobby Jackson also missing time, Fellow Redshirt Senior Dylan Riley has excelled as RB1. Riley is setting career highs with 52 carries for 368 yds (7.1 avg) and has 5 rushing TD's. RIley also has shown the ability to catch the ball with 13 rec for 153 yds and 1 TD.

                      KEILAN BETTIS
Last season Bettis set new Boise State records in both receptions and touchdowns in a season as a Redshirt Freshman well also recording over 1200 yds receiving (1279 to be exact).. Bettis is well on his way to shattering those records as he has 52 rec for 704 yds and 9 TD's already this season in just 6 games.
                      OLSEN/LOFTON
When Matt Lauter graduated after the end of the 2025 season Matt Wagner stepped up as TE1 but with Wagner's graduation last season, the door was opened yet again and so far USC Transfer Joey Olsen (26 rec 399 yds 2 TD) and Florida State transfer Chase Loftin (14 rec 322 yds 2 TD) have filled that role better then expected combing for 40 rec for 721 yds and 4 TD's in the first 6 games.

                      OFFENSE AND DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
BSU is off to a their best start in 4 seasons going into Week 8 with a undefeated season (6-0). Well it's pretty easy to think their #1 Offense (4451 yds) is the reason for it. BSU leads the nation in scoring at 61.7 PPG (Maryland is 2nd at 48.5 and Tennessee is 3rd at 47.7) and the BSU lead the nation in passing yards (2617) and rushing yards (1834) we can't forget about the amazing play by the Defense as well.

BSU has record 23 sacks in the first 6 games including a team high 6.5 by SR Ephraim Asiata who has missed the past 2 games. The Broncos also have recorded 6 INT including a season/career high 3 by JR CB Kyle Marks.

Another huge reason for the Broncos success has been that of PK Diego Gutierrez.. Last season Gutty made 22/25 FG attempts and this season the Sophomore is at it again connecting on 11/13 well setting a new career long of 53 yds.. The other is FR Punter Mitch Lauderdale who actually helps by not playing.. Lauderdale has kicked just 17 punts in the Broncos first 6 games...

                      RECRUITING
Coach Matt Miller and Coach Danielson before him have struggled with in-season recruiting but have managed to both do well with the Off-season and Transfer Portal landing Top-30 class's the past 4 years. Well this season is off to a very similar start. Going into Week 8 Boise State has yet to secure a commitment and 20+ available scholarships

In fact this past week BSU lost 2 of it's top targets on their 25 Player Big Board.

4* TE Jason Kircus (#118 Overall/#12 CA/#4 TE) has signed with Clemson after taking a Week 7 visit to Boise
4* WR Antonio Miranda (#79 Overall/#2 HI/#16 WR) has also committed signing with USC after a Week 7 visit with the Trojans following his Week 5 visit with BSU.

BSU currently has 16 players left on the Big Board were the Broncos are still in the Top-3 including 5* OT Jonathan Daniels and 5* WR Jeron Singletary.. However Singletary a Lanccaster PA native appears very close to signing with either Notre Dame or Penn State, but is scheduled for a Week 8 visit with the Broncos.

                        BOISE STATE MOVES TO 7-0!!
                        GAME RECAP
Boise State extended it's winning streak to 7-0 with a victory over BYU in Week 8. BSU is now also a perfect 4-0 in Pac-12 play as well as the Broncos look to make a repeat run at a Pac-12 Championship and a 5th straight year at making the College Football Playoffs.

Star RB Sire Gaines returned to action coming off the Week 7 "Bye" Week but would carry the ball just 4 times for 19 yds scoring 2 touchdowns to give BSU a (14-7) lead in the 1st Quarter. The Broncos and Cougars both score twice more in the 2nd Quarter to make it (28-21) with less then a minute to play but a 44 yd FG by Diego Guiterrez would extend the lead to (31-21) at the half.

Boise State opened up the 2nd half with 9 play scoring drive as QB Tavien St Clair throws his 3rd touchdown on the day finding Cameron Bates on a 43 yd bomb. BYU would answer back with a score of their own but BSU quickly answered back as backup RB Bo Jackson breaks free on a 23 yd run for a score to make it (45-28) going into the 4th.

BSU would extend the lead to (52-28) as Jackson scores his 2nd TD of the day filling in for Gaines but BYU again answers back with another score to make it (52-35). With the lead 17 point lead Coach Miller decided to pull his 1st team offense but instead of turning to Tanner Applewhite at QB, Senior Brian Ridge would enter the game still with over 5 minutes to play in the game. Ridge would complete 3/5 pass attempts including a 23 yd touchdown to TE Joey Olsen for yet another Bronco score. (59-35)

BYU kept fighting though and would score 1 more time as RS SO Kentrell Cherry (74 Ovr) throws his 3rd TD of the game. but after forcing a 3 and out on the next series, Cherry would throw a INT to Kyle Marks as Boise State seals the victory with a few run plays to close out the game.

Cherry would end up 27/45 (60%) throwing for 360 yds with the 3 TD and 1 INT

                        INJURY NEWS

I can't keep Sire Gaines healthy. His Wear and Tear recovery bar is completely gone.. At this point I think I am going to turn off Wear/Tear in hopes he can actually play. I might still limit his # of carries though to make it realistic but it just sucks to basically get him for less then 5 carries every game..

GAINES MAKES HISTORY AS BRONCOS WIN #8

                          GAME RECAP
Sire Gaines started the year off with a bang with 3 straight games over 100 yds including a 152 yd 5 TD performance against Ole Miss in the season opener. However the past 4 weeks Gaines has been battling injuries limiting him to just 12 carries for 60 yds and 2 scores going into the Broncos Week 9 matchup with Utah..

Gaines however came out on fire with back to back runs of 10+ yds well leading Boise State on a 13 play 80 yd drive ending with a 4 yd TD run for his 14th TD of the season as Boise State takes a (10-0) lead into the 2nd Quarter.

Gaines wasn't done though as he breaks free with a 25 yd TD run midway through the 2nd Quarter to give Boise State a (17-14) lead well going over 100 yds in the first half. BSU wasn't done though either as QB Tavien St Clair finds TE Joey Olsen on what would be the first of 4 TD's on the day to extend Boise State's lead to (24-14) going into the half.

Gaines continued to play well in the 3rd Quarter raking up another 50 yds helping set up another Bronco touchdown as St Clair hits Olsen again to make it (31-20) going into the 4th.. Gaines would add 22 more yds early in the 4th before departing as he sets a season high 177 yds on the ground. For Gaines it was more then just a big game after a month of injuries. The 177 yds and 2 TD's not only gave Gaines 776 yds and 15 TD's on the season but it gave Gaines a career total of 4498 yards as sets a new school record held by Cedric Mentor a record that has held for 48 years despite a very talented group of RB's that have played at Boise State that includes the likes of Chris Thomas Brock Forsey, Ian Johnson, Doug Martin, Jay Ajayi, Jeremy McNichols, Alexander Mattison, George Holani, and Aston Jeanty as well as many others like Jeremy Avery, DJ Harper,

Despite the 11 point lead, St Clair wasn't done throwing though either as he throws a pair of 4th Quarter touchdowns to extend the lead to (45-20).. With both St Clair and Gaines on the sidelines it was Dylan Riley's turn for the final score as the Senior RB takes in his 6th TD of the season...

                          RECRUITING RECAP
It was a tough week in recruiting as Boise State and Coach Miller lost out on several players including 3 of their Top-5 targets on their Big Board.

5* WR Jeron Singletary (#7 Overall/#1 PA/#2 WR) has signed with Notre Dame.
4* ATH Devaunte Zaron (#33 Overall/#4 CA/#1 ATH) has signed with Cal
4* DT Adrian Incognito (#68 Overall/#9 CA/#4 DT) has signed with Arizona State
4* QB Sam Nauta (#126 Overall/#13 CA/#11 QB) has signed with Arizona State
4* DE Carolos Cantrell (#130 Overall/#1 NV/#9 DE) has locked out BSU with Cal and USC as his Top-2

Nauta was my only high school recruit I was trying to sign.. I landed a RS FR last year in the Portal from USC and if I can keep him from rejoining the Portal he will likely be my starting QB next year unless I can convince Applewhite or St Clair to return for their Senior seasons. Singletary isn't a huge loss as my WR core is pretty solid but anytime you have a 5* Recruit with your school in his Top-5 to start the year I figure you recruit them not matter what position and depth you have. Incognito hurts.. My DT depth is lacking and my 2 rotating starters are both Seniors.. I will have to hit the Portal for some instant starters and depth.

                            #25 (6-2) Kansas

Only 3 times in the Top-25 with 3 loss's and only 1 team in the Top-17, should make for some very interesting battles of the Final 5 weeks.

**There is actually 6 teams still undefeated but (8-0) Arkansas State is only 24 in the Coaches Poll and is unranked in the CFP Rankings and the Media.

                                GAME RECAP
Boise State honored their 17 Seniors before today's game as the Bronco's played their final home game of the season (not counting a possible 1st round hosting of the playoffs).

Sticking with tradition, all Seniors got a chance to start or play major minutes including backup QB Brian Ridge. Ridge a transfer from San Jose State where he threw for over 4000 yds as a Sophomore hasn't seen much PT in Boise but he has provided Coach Miller a solid backup option to starter Tavien St Clair and Ridge played a solid 1st Quarter leading the Broncos to a (7-0) lead but a INT would give another scoring opportunity as BSU and Colorado went into the 2nd Quarter tied .

Ridge would exit the game having completed 12/16 (75%) for 97 yds with the INT. St Clair would take over in the 2nd Quarter and help Boise State take a (24-17) lead into the locker room setting up Senior RB Sire Gaines for a career day.

Gaines scored twice in the 1st half finishing with over 100 yds on the day and kept things going in the 3rd Quarter scoring 3 more touchdowns as he carries the ball 22 times for 177 yds and 5 TD's before exiting early in the 4th Quarter. Gaines 5 TD's tied him with Jay Ajayi single game record set in 2014.

St Clair also would take a seat with a (45-24) lead as backup QB Tanner Applewhite finished out the game. Applewhite would throw the only passing TD of the day as he hit SR WR Cameron Bates on a 20 yd scoring strike.. Applewhite would finish the game 8/15 (53%) throwing for 112 yds with 1 TD and 1 INT.
