5 weeksGame Notes This week the Broncos go on the road again, this time to face the team that injured Zac Piper two weeks ago. A win here would be huge, as a sweep of the Bolts would put Denver 2 games up on San Diego and squarely into the driver's seat in the AFC West. But with a mess at QB and a struggling running game, it may be a tall order. Unsatisfied with Jake Locker's performance against the Jets last week despite the W, John Fox has decided to give the start to Tyler Bray. It was Bray, and not Locker, who helped the Broncos hold down the fort for the win after Piper went down in the last meeting.
QB Comparison
Tyler Bray - 54.0 rating, 27/50 (54.0%), 304 YDS, 1 TD, 3 INT
Wade Hancock - 114/224 (50.8%), 1308 YDS, 7 TD, 8 INT

Re: Denver A.M.
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox did not want to see Jake Locker on the field in this week’s rematch with the San Diego Chargers- until Tyler Bray was 9-for-20 for 101 yards and an interception with the Broncos trailing 19-3 late in the third quarter. Locker’s entry into the game did not alter its outcome (or did it?) and with him throwing away a potential comeback, it was Matt Scott who finished the game for under center for Denver, which succumbed to a 26-17 defeat. Both teams are now 5-4.
Montee Ball got 22 of his 47 yards on the game’s first two plays from scrimmage with runs of 13 and 9, but three plays later the Broncos were in a 4th and 1. Denver went for it and a Bray sneak was stuffed for a turnover on downs at the Bronco 43. The Bolts failed to move the sticks, netting only 4 yards in their first three plays, and Blair Walsh missed a 56 yard field goal attempt. On the following play Bray’s first pass was thrown deep intended for Virgil Green. Eric Weddle wrestled the ball away from Green for a pick at the San Diego 15. After an exchange of punts the Bolts were at their 49. Catches of 15 and 17 yards by Kenny Britt converted a 3rd and 12 and a 3rd and 6 but on a 3rd and 1 play Taylor Mays stopped DeMarco Murray for no gain and the Chargers had to settle for drawing first blood with Walsh’s 26 yard field goal. At the first half’s two minute warning the score was still 3-0, with San Diego in a 2nd and 20 at the Denver 35 after a delay of game penalty and a Tyronne Randall sack. The Bolts converted on the next play with Wade Hancock’s pass to Josh Gordon, then Hancock found Santonio Holmes for a 12 yard touchdown and a 10-0 San Diego lead. Bray converted a 3rd and 10 at the Denver 22 with an 11 yard pass to Andre Wallace, and after his fifth consecutive completion time out was called with the Broncos in a 2nd and 1 at the Charger 13 with 20 ticks remaining in the half. Following Green’s recovery of a Bray fumble caused by a Melvin Ingram sack, Bray’s pass to Mohamed Sanu left the Broncos in a 4th and 1 and the half ended with Matt Prater breaking the goose egg with a 29 yard kick.
The third quarter was all San Diego with Walsh booting three more field goals to extend the Bolts’ lead to 19-3. Locker’s first series yielded what eventually proved to be Denver’s only offensive touchdown of the game, a 6 yard pass to Sanu with 11:31 to go. Locker also found Sanu for the 2 point conversion that got the Broncos within 8 points. After DT Immanuel Kirce recorded a sack on the first play after the kickoff Mays picked off Hancok and went to the house. On the try for two that would have tied the game at 19, Locker hit Justin Hunter a yard short of the goal line and Hunter couldn’t fight his way into the end zone. The Denver defense then forced abut, but two plays later Locker threw a pick-six to Sean Lee. Marc Marinai’s kickoff return put the ball at the San Diego 49, but Locker was intercepted in the end zone by Weddle with 4:42 left. Scott came in after San Diego punted and went 3-for-3 before the Broncos ran out of time.

I like how it's difficult for you to win without a strong QB. Hopefully someone else can step up in Piper's absence (I'm looking at you Montee), I mean no one wants to lose to the Raiders. My Dynasties

Re: Denver A.M.
How bad can the Denver Broncos be without a reliable backup quarterback? Bad enough to lose to a 3-win Oakland Raiders team. At home. On Monday Night Football. In the throwbacks. The Broncos went into the second quarter with a 7-3 lead, but two Dan Carpenter field goals later, they were behind and would never lead again, ultimately falling to 5-5 in a 29-21 defeat.
After Carpenter closed the opening series with a 49 yard kick, the Broncos went three and out when Montee Ball was stuffed for no gain on 3rd and 1. Two plays after the punt, Kayvon Webster picked off Willie Duckett at the Denver 45. Reaching 5-for-5 for 48 yards, Tyler Bray concluded the drive with a 15 yard touchdown pass to rookie running back Andre Wallace. That was Bray at his peak. After a three and out with three incomplete passes, he was 2-of-8 since completing his first 5 throws. That 3 and out was followed by Carpenter’s third field goal of the second quarter, which gave the Raiders a 12-7 halftime lead.
In the first series of the second half, which began with Matt Scott under center for the Broncos, Ball was de-cleated by Casey Hayward, losing a fumble that was recovered by Vontaze Burfict. The turnover was converted into the Raiders’ first touchdown, a 7 yard pass from Duckett to no. 3 tight end Marc Brock. Scott was then sacked twice in a row before throwing a pick that led to another 7 yard TD catch by Brock, giving Oakland its biggest lead of the night at 26-7. Denver then drove to Scott’s 1 yard sneak for a touchdown, but lost Virgil Green to a broken collarbone sustained on a 28 yard catch and run. With the score still 26-14, the fourth quarter opened with Webster’s second interception, which he returned 21 yards to the Oakland 34, but the Broncos failed to convert when Scott was picked off in the end zone. After the Raiders went three and out, Bray was back in at QB because he hadn’t turned turned the ball over in the first half, but then he was intercepted by Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, leading to another Oakland field goal. Denver’s QB carousel took another turn, not to the banished Jake Locker, but back to Scott, who then directed a drive to his 6 yard TD toss to Mohamed Sanu. It was now an 8 point game with 1:01 to go and the Bronco defense turned in a three and out, but Scott was sacked and then intercepted on third down after an incomplete pass, leaving the Raiders to end the game with a Duckett kneel-down.

3 weeksGame Notes A pair of teams without their starting QB's meet in a game that only their fans care about. The Broncos showed last week that they cn lose to just about anybody, so the struggling Pats may offer further embarrassment rather than relief.
With new head coach Doug Marrone overhauling New England's defense into a 4-3 scheme, Luis Ruiz, the 5th overall pick of the 2016 draft, has been relegated from starting at OLB to being a backup DE. Thanks to a thumb injury to Raiyel Ryland, Ruiz will be making his first start since last year.
