      Russell's Road Show

While the Kansas City Chiefs’ defense was able to keep the Seattle Seahawks’ potent rushing attack mostly in check, with NFL rushing leader Marshawn Lynch held to just 3.1 yards per carry, that proved to be only a minor hindrance, as the Hawks still managed to roll to a 36-17 victory, thanks to Russell Wilson having his best game of the season. Russell compiled a passer rating of 128.3 with 28 completions in 35 attempts (80%), for 358 yards and 2 touchdowns, with zero picks. DangerRuss also rushed for 2 scores, thus accounting for all four Seahawk touchdowns. The difference between this contest and the first 9 games of the season was that Seattle’s less-than-stellar wideouts finally stepped up with significant contributions. Doug Baldwin grabbed 5 balls for 75 yards (15.0) and a score, and rookie Paul Richardson made 4 catches for 77 yards (19.2).

The Seahawks jumped on top with a first quarter field goal and then expanded their lead to 6-0 after a Bobby Wagner interception deep in KC territory, but fell behind by surrendering the game’s first touchdown, a 16 yard scramble by Alex Smith. But from that point on, Seattle out-pointed Kansas City 30-10, including Wilson’s 2 touchdown passes in the final two minutes of the first half.

With 10:28 left in the game, the Chiefs got within 6 on Smith’s 27 yard screen pass to Jamaal Charles, but the Seahawks responded with a touchdown drive capped by Wilson’s 4 yard run, and after KC’s second consecutive turnover on downs, Wilson turned what was intended to be a clock-killing keeper into a 30 yard score.

                        Hawks Hold Off Cards

After Russell Wilson’s 11 yard TD pass gave the Seattle Seahawks a commanding 24-6 lead over the host Arizona Cardinals with 13:54 left in the game, the Cards mounted a rally that ran out of time before it could alter the outcome. Arizona pulled to within 8 points, getting its only touchdown of the game on a 34 yard strike from Carson Palmer to Ted Ginn Jr. with only a minute and a half remaining. But following a failed onside kickoff, Seattle was able to put the game away by running out the clock.

Wilson's Turnover Puts The “Sudden" In Sudden Death

Not many teams have had trouble with the surprisingly struggling San Francisco 49ers this season, but the Seattle Seahawks did in the NFC West rivals’ first meeting of 2014. The game was tied at the end of the first and second quarters, and going into the 4th the favored Seahawks were down 20-17 on the third’s only score, a 27 yard Phil Dawson field goal. A field goal was also the lone score of the fourth, with Steven Hauschka’s easy 22-yarder knotting the score at 20 with 6:23 left in regulation. With neither team able to break the deadlock in the remainder of regulation, the game went into extra time. After an exchange of punts, Seattle was driving toward a potential game-winning score when a scrambling Russell Wilson coughed up the ball. The bouncing pigskin was alertly scooped up by safety Craig Dahl, who raced 62 yards to the end zone to bring the game to a dramatic conclusion that dropped the Hawks to 8-4 and a NFC West first place tie with St. Lois.

Had to sim the Eagles game instead of getting to play it because I'd been away from the game long enough to forget that you can't play your game if you advance and save before playing the current game.
