    GAME RECAP

This was game was a defensive battle yet neither team came away with a turnover.. Both teams would combine for 5 FG's in the 1st half with the first touchdown not coming until there was less then 20 seconds to play in the half as Ohio State's Freshman RB Fredrick Tam punches in a 1 yd run to make it (16-6) at the half.

Ohio State would make a change at QB for the 2nd half as Junior David Ledford takes over for Vince Redziniak, and the West Virginia transfer once again out plays the V.R. opening the door for maybe his first start next week.

Ledford would lead the Buckeyes on 2 scoring drives in the 3rd Quarter as Jones and Tam both punch in short runs to extend the lead to (30-6) going into the 4th..

Texas would battle back in the 4th Quarter scoring 3 times as SR QB Ramon Hernandez (81) throws for 2 TD's and runs for another but the comeback bid falls short as JR RB Dave Jones has a career day on the ground finishing with 17 carries for 138 yds and 2 scores including a 4th quarter TD with under 2 minutes to play.

Hernandez finished the game 26/39 (66%) for 281 yds with 2 TD and rushed 8 times for 27 yds and 1 TD.

        GAME RECAP

Tied (7-7) at the end of the 1st Quater, Ohio State would explode for 3 touchdowns in the 2nd Quarter including a 61 yd bomb from Redziniak to Alexander with less then 10 seconds on the clock to give Ohio State the (28-14) lead at the half.

Ohio State would extend their lead to (42-14) in the early in the 3rd Quarter with a pair of touchdown runs by JR RB Dave Jones who has found his footing as the Buckeyes RB1 pairing well with RS FR Fredrick Tam as the duo combined for another 150 yds and 5 TD's on the day.

Nebraska however would battle back as the Defense picks off Redziniak twice in the final 12 minutes and SR QB Alonzo Momah and JR WR Joey Robledo would hook up 2 more times to give each player 4 TD's on the day as the Cornhuskers battle back to make it (42-34) with just under 2 minutes to play..

Nebraska would decide to leave the offense on the field after the final score by Robledo, I am assuming hoping to maybe convert the 2 pt play so that if they could get the ball back they could try and win the game in regulation, but Momah's pass falls short as the Buckeyes hold onto the 8 point lead. Despite trailing by 8 and with just 1:52 to play Nebraska then made the bold decision to skip the onside kick attempt and would instead kickoff but FR Cameron McCracken comes up big with a 15 yd run that sets up a 1st down as the Buckeyes run out the clock.

Momah finished the day 18/32 (56%0 for 349 yds with 4 TD. Robledo had 5 rec for 192 yds and all 4 TD's.

            GAME RECAP

It was a slow start for the Ohio State Offense as West Virginia transfer David Ledford made his first start of the season. OSU settled for a pair of FG's early as Stanford would actually lead (7-6) with with under 5 minutes to play in the half, but the Buckeyes Offense would catch fire scoring 4 times including 3 times in the final 3 minutes of the half including a pair of long touchdowns thrown by Ledford. (70 yd to Nick Tull and 52 yds to Gill Alexander) as Ohio State takes a (34-7) lead into the half.

Ledford's first INT of the season would kill a scoring opportunity early in the 3rd Quarter but the Buckeye Defense continued to play well shutting down the Cardinal Offense as Stanford completes just 3/13 3rd down conversions on the day as they are forced to punt 7 times..

Ledford learning from his earlier mistake when facing a 3rd and goal late in the 3rd Quarter scrambles to his first rushing touchdown of the season to extend OSU's lead to (41-7).

Stanford would score a early 4th Quarter touchdown to make it (41-14) but the Buckeyes were not done as Fredrick Tam punches in a 4 yd TD run for his 7th touchdown of the season and Monty Carty would come on for a 32 yd FG with 37 seconds to play to finish the game how it started with 3 points for the Buckeyes.

Stanford SO QB Emanuel Thrasher (75) finished 18/37 for 233 yds with 1 INT.

Stanford did run the ball well as SR RB Kam Engler (81) finished with 105 yds on 12 carries.

              MILLER LANDS TOP-TARGET!!!

With Multiple Recruits on the sidelines for Ohio State's big Week 4 win over Stanford, Coach Matt Miller came away with the Buckeyes first Verbal of the season and hit was a big one.

After missing out on landing 5* QB Courtland Coffey last year to Texas, Ohio State went into the season with a QB Battle that still is going on as RS SO Vince Redziniak (835 yds 4 TD 2 INT) and JR transfer David Ledford (703 yds 5 TD 1 INT, 1 rushing TD) have so far split time.. Miller might not have to worry about a 2 QB system for long as Miller lands the commitment of 5* Nick De La Roasa..

Listed at 6'4 222lbs from Angleton Texas, De La Rosa was ranked the #10 Overall Recruit in this year's class, the #2 Recruit from Texas and the #2 QB in the class. He had scholarship offers from Alabama, Texas A&M and Arizona State..

              Coach Miller
"We are extremely excited.. When Nick told me after the game, the first thing I did was called a meeting with all of the current QB's on our roster.. I explained what had just happened but I also let them know after landing Nick, that I was pulling all other scholarship offers made to other QB's in this class. Nick will be our only 1 and just like this year.. Next Spring it will be a open competition for any players who remain on our roster at the end of the season. I know there are some hurt feelings and I am sure we will probably have multiple guy's enter the portal, but Nick is a generational type talent I believe he could be be the type of QB who leads this school to multiple National Championships before become a NFL QB one day"

De La Rosa isn't the only 5* Recruit Ohio State is after this season. With somewhere between 20-25 scholarships available, Coach Miller and his staff have targeted 25 other players this year including 13 other 5* Recruits in what could be a record breaking year.... Here is a look at the rest of the Top-25.

                WEEK 4 TEAM UPDATE

                INJURY UPDATE

RS SO Tim Trindad rushed 15 times for 98 yds with 4 TD's in the Panthers Week 0 win over UCF. He then missed the next 3 games but will return for FIU's matchup with Miami in Week 5.

FIU however will be without 2 players for the game and for several more.

Starting Center Quincy Stokes (88 ovr) will miss the next 2 weeks with a Dislocated Elbow and FR CB Barry Maddox (79 ovr) will miss the next 7 weeks with a Dislocated Ankle..

Maddox was the teams #3CB registering 7 Tackles this season and was working on Special teams as a return man (3 KR 65 yds 21.7 avg).

                COXIE MAKING PLAYS

Oklahoma transfer Taylor Coxie is currently #2 in the nation in rushing yards with 470 (Tulane's A. Sweet has 521, OSU's Dave Jones has 450). He has 59 carries (8.0) avg with 2 TD's.. He is also currently 4th on the team with 10 receptions for 77 yds and 1 TD as a receiver.

                THE NEXT GREAT ONE

Well Emari Boenzi is putting together a Heisman type season and will most likely be a 1st round pick in next year's NFL Draft, RS FR Devin Kennedy is showing he can be the next man up.. Kennedy also a former 5* Recruit currently is 2nd on the team with 15 receptions for 27 yds (18.2 avg) with 2 TD's.

                KING OF THE CITY

FIU and Miami have added another Trophy to go along with the King's Crown.. The schools will now also exchange a large Golden Key given to the MVP of the game by the Mayor of Miami.

"We are excited to join in on the rivalry giving the MVP of the game the "Key's to the City" Will it be Legend Coffee, Kevin Pounds, Ray Flowers, Taylor Coxie, Dillon Yancy or Emari Boenzi or will someone else setup??"
                RECRUITING UPDATE

FIU has yet to land a recruit in this year's class, and well that typically doesn't worry Coach Valdez and the staff, the fact that USF (9 recruits, 5-3*, 4-2*) is currently be labeled with the #1 Class and Miami (5 Recruits, 1-5*, 3-4*, 1-3*) sitting at #2 does bother OC Clayton Dees

"Since Coach Miller arrived at FIU it has always been our goal to keep local talent here in Florida but also to win our state. We have a great Top-25 board this year (7-5*, 16-4*, 2-3*) but it would be we are also in a recruiting battle with not just Coach Miller and Ohio State on alot of our top guy's but Miami, Florida and Tennessee as well.. With several Top tier players expected to be on the sidelines for this Week's game vs the Canes it's my hope that a few of them will give us their verbal"

Time to bring in one of those 5* WRs to give De La Rosa a go to target for his career.

Both teams are off to great starts. Kind of concerning FIU hasn't made ground in recruiting, but that just means they'll likely have to fill in with 3/4*s rather than the 5* florida guys

Thanks. He is a Field General. He has 95 THP, 89 SA, 83 MA, 81 DA, 82 Awareness and 81 Speed.. Size wise he is similar to Justin Fields and Dwayne Haskins... If he ends up with a similar career I would be very happy..

For sure. Personally I am hoping to get both.. Riggs is 5'10 and a straight deep threat.. Ahlers is 6'5 and the Physical guy, 4* Hakim I think would make for a nice slot guy, but I also would still have Tandy (redshirting because of the injury) who should have 3 years still plus Tull my current #4 who has will likely be my next slot WR plus a trio of 4* guy's I redshirted last year who all are solid (75/76) who could jump with some training.. So I feel like we got a pretty good WR room for the next 3-4 years already on the roster.

Right now if I had to guess, I think FIU will probably win the battle for at least 3-4 5*, but I am having a hard time figuring out why the 4* guy's are not signing. I don't understand how or why so many instate 4* guy's sign with Miami in the first 2-3 weeks of every season. It's crazy.. They are a Top-5 class every year and its because they sign 20-25 4* guy's.

With Ohio State I am hoping to land #1 again. I unlooked Elite Recruiter landing the #1 Class last year after landing the #5 well at FIU.. So that is helping.

Coach Dees is attribute is Tactician but I am pretty much dumping all my points earned into his recruiting right now. I got all the Offensive positions maxed out and working on DB's and LB's right now.

Valdez is a Program Builder, so you would think his Abilities would help more..

Neither school is losing much.. FIU has 10 Seniors but they still got only 75 players so I have scholarships available to still go after a 20 player class, but If I only come away with 15, it's fine.. I only have 14 Juniors as well but I have a feeling 1 or 2 might leave early.

OSU also only has 75 players and 11 Seniors so we too have 21 scholarships available but I also think of the 9 Juniors 1 or 2 could leave early and we also think I will probably cut at least 2 QB's and probably a couple Defensive DB's off the roster so I am thinking we could go for a 25 man class pretty easy..

                          GAME RECAP

*I played this game at like 1 am, and forgot to write down the scoring summary.. Ohio State and Notre Dame have played some pretty amazing games over years and today was no different...

OSU opened the game with the ball, with Ledford getting his 2nd straight start under Center (he has more mobility and speed the Redziniak and seems to be completing his pass's at a higher %) and the Buckeyes open up the game with a 71 yd bomb from Ledford to Jabu Gayton to get things going (7-0).

Still (7-0) entering the 2nd quarter, Notre Dame would tie the game as SR QB Nyles Witt (82) to SO Terrelle Boger (86) with a 42 yd score.. (7-7). Ledford and Gayton would hook up again with a 24 yd score to retake the lead (14-7) midway through the 2nd Quarter, and the Buckeye Defense steps up to hold the Irish to a FG to close out the first half with a (14-10) lead.

The Irish opened up the 2nd half with the ball and quickly took the lead as Witt connects with SO WR Nick Killings on a 30 yd scoring strike to give the Irish the (17-14) lead.

Notre Dame did a great job all day holding Dave Jones to just a 2.0 avg but the truth is the Buckeyes had 3 runs called back with holding penalties that just killed the rushing attack..

Still trailing (17-14) entering the 4th, Ledford would give OSU the lead as caps a 11 play drive with a 3 yd TD run to make it (21-17).

Notre Dame would lose starting QB Nyles Witt on their opening drive of the 4th Quarter and backup RS SO Bruce Louis (88) would throw a INT on his first pass attempt as he is picked off by JR CB Faitele Nauta.. OSU then got a huge play as Gayton takes a Jet Sweep handoff 52 yds to the house for his 3rd TD of the day to extend Ohio State's lead (28-17)..

It looked like the Buckeyes were going to move to 5-0 on the season with under 5 minutes to play after forcing the Irish to settle for a 42 yd FG attempt to make it (28-20) but facing a 3rd and 5, Ledford looks for Pappoe on a slant play for the 1st down and the ball hits off the Seniors hands and into the hands of a Irish Defender as Notre Dame takes over with 2 minutes to play.

Louis however brings some backup magic or something as he hits Boger for a 41 yd score to make it (28-26).. The Irish would then convert the 2pt play to tie the game (28-28) with under a minute to play.

OSU still had a chance to win the game in regulation after Ledford hits Tull with a 25 yd pass, he finds Alexander on a a 14 yd strike on a corner route as the Senior steps out of bounds to setup a 51 yd FG attempt with 7 seconds to play.. Carty's kick was long enough but the ball sails left as we are headed to OT.

OSU opened up the OT with the ball and would have to settle for a Carty FG, but the Defense steps up and forces the Irish to do the same making it (31-31).. Louis however steps up huge again in OT as he hits Killings with his 2nd TD of the day.. The Irish would then convert the 2pt play again as Ohio State takes the field needing to do the same.

With the ground game still struggling, Ledford goes to the air driving the ball down to the 7 yd line but the Irish stepped up forcing a 4th and goal, Ledford is sacked to end the game..

With the loss, Ohio drops to (4-1) on the year and drops to #5 in the Top-25 rankings.

The Buckeyes will hit the road for Week 6 with a trip to East Lansing as they take on the (2-3) Michigan State Spartans before a much needed Week 7 "Bye" Week.

                          RECRUITING UPDATE

The loss was a "Double Whammy" as several top prospects were on the sidelines for the game...

5* TE Kevin Lucien (#26 Overall/#3 PA/#2 TE) was one of those players and he ends up heading to the visiting locker room to give his commitment to the Irish..

5* RB Tim Chosen (#21 Overall/#2 NJ/#3 RB) was one of the players on the sidelines for last week's game but after the game Coach Miller got a call letting him know Chosen had chosen elsewhere as he commits to Penn State.

Ohio State still has a pair of 5* Athletes (Lee Dubois and Viliami Te'o) who could could still sign with the Buckeyes giving them a deadly duo in the backfield with De la Rosa..

                            GAME RECAP

*Also forgot to write down the scoring summary*..

After back to back seasons losing the "King's Crown" FIU has won the reclaimed the crown proving they are the best team in Miami..

FIU took a early (10-0) lead in the 1st Quarter as Pounds connects with RS FR Devin Kennedy on a 25 yd score to open the game but Miami tied the game (10-10) midway through the 2nd Quarter as Coffee and Yancey hook up for a 28 yd score before the Panthers score 3 straight touchdowns to close out the 1st half, as Kevin Pounds and Emari Boenzi hook up 3 times including a 69 yd bomb with 3 seconds on the clock to make it (31-10)..

                            Coach Dees
"K.P. and E.B. were in a zone.... They have a beautiful relationship with each other.. E.B. came here as one the first 5* Recruits FIU signed but had a rough start as he came in sorta cocky and not willing to put in the work (Busted Gem) but after a redshirt season, he came out and proved to everyone why he was still ranked the #10 player in his class and the best WR in the country.. It's fun to watch"
FIU would extend their lead to (38-10) midway through the 3rd Quarter as backup RB Anfernee Rasmussen caps off a 9 play drive with a 8 yd TD run.

Miami opened up the 4th Quarter scoring as Coffee hits JR Andre Draft (90 ovr) with a 22 yd strike to cut the lead to (38-17) but FIU wasn't done scoring as Pounds adds on to rushing touchdowns in the final 4 minutes of the game finishing with 6 TD's on the day and earning the Player of the Game and the newly created award.."The Key's to the City" given out by the Miami Mayor..

                            RECRUITING NEWS

FIU landed it's first 2 commitments of the year signing a pair of 4* Recruits.

4* Athlete Akeem Armah (#62 Overall/#1 CT/#5 QB). Listed at 6'0 203lbs from Danbury CT where he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year. .Well Armah is listed as a scrambling QB.. There is a chance he could follow Anfernee Simmons route and potentially end up at RB next season as FIU will have at least 1 more season of Kevin Pounds under center.. Armah had scholarships offers from Boston College and Miami of Ohio as well.

4* FS John Poujade (#75 Overall/#11 FL/#5 FS).. Listed at 6'0 199lbs from Palm Beach Gardens FL, Poujade was being heavily recruiting by Oregon and Kentucky, so it was nice to keep this kid instate.

Welling landing Armah and Poujade is a great start, FIU did get some not so good news this week as 5* OLB Richard Lorenz (#15 Overall/#3 FL/#1 OLB) signs with the Gators.

                              GAME RECAP

Coming off a disappointing loss to Notre Dame, the Ohio State Buckeyes set off to once again prove to the country they are the best team.

After 2 straight weeks as the fulltime starter we saw a change at QB for the Buckeyes as JR David Ledford is replaced by RS SO Vince Redziniak..

Redziniak played a great 1st Quarter as he throws a pair of touchdowns to give OSU the (14-0) lead.

Michigan State opened up the 2nd half with a FG, but the Buckeyes answer right back with a FG of their own to make it (17-3) then with 1:45 to play in the half Redziniak would throw his 3rd TD of the half hitting Jabu Gayton on a scoring strike to make it (24-3).

After forcing a quick 3 and out FIU would extend their lead to (27-3) as Carty hits a 50 yd FG but leaving 19 seconds on the clock, Michigan State wasn't ready to just give up and go to the locker room quietly, as the Spartans manage to tack on a 27 yd FG as time expires to make it (27-6).

Ohio State opened up the 2nd half scoring as Fredrick Tam scores his 2nd rushing TD of the day to extend the lead to (34-6).

Redziniak's Day was not perfect, the QB would turn the ball over twice as the fumbles the ball well getting drilled by the Spartan Defense which led to 2 scores by the Spartans but he would add a 4th TD in between hitting Alexander on a 21 yd score to make it (45-20) early in the 4th.

The OSU Defense would come up big in the 4th picking off MSU SR QB Emmett Washington twice as Ohio State closes out the game with Tam's 3rd TD of the day earning him the Hat trick, and a 80 yd TD run by Dave Jones as the JR RB goes over 200 yds on the day giving him a new career high.FINAL SCORE OHIO STATE-59 MICHIGAN STATE-20

Washington finished the day 17/27 (62%) for 238 yds with 2 TD and 2 INT. He led the Spartans with 9 carries for 58 yds on the ground as well.
